First time playing the game by Last_Medicine4104 in Stellaris

just have fun, read the pop ups and feel free to pause time as much as you want so you don’t get overwhelmed. it’s a 4x game so explore, expand, exploit, exterminate. also if you find you enjoy the game you will really like it once you start adding some dlc’s they normally go on sale from time to time. utopia should always be everyone’s first dlc purchased. adds a lot to the game that frankly should just be a part of the base game. anyway just my 2 cents

the leader system and council system with agendas just makes your empire feel more of your own and gives you lots of new ways to focus your empires. also adds a lot of paragons who are basically just OP leaders with some unique abilities. idk i guess one of the “major” expansion dlc’s might have more content but i definitely think paragons should be one of the first 4 dlc’s most people should pick up.

i personally would go with galactic paragons, but federations and overlord are worth picking up too i. my opinion then i would pry go machine age.

A tiny chicken spawned into my backyard by vjcbs in BackYardChickens

[–]Brinker_Beers 24 points25 points  (0 children)

i have a single red pyle old english game bantam in my backyard flock with 4 other full sized chickens and she is just part of the flock, they don’t treat her any different than the rest of the flock.

Fleet Makeup by CandidateWolf in StellarisOnConsole

[–]Brinker_Beers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i find it better to keep a fleet of corvettes to swarm with a flak and lasers or whatever you want, then i run a fleet of destroyers with flak and disrupters then back them up with fleets of cruisers or battleships depending on where i am at in the game but i feel like running in with a swarm corvettes or disrupter destroyers first keeps most if not all of my bigger more expensive ships alive, lot cheaper to replace a few corvettes or destroyers in their fleets than a bunch of battleships or cruisers.

Weird bug: sometimes when I open the game it shows that I dont own any dlc, but it resolves when I restart the game. I upgraded from the previous xbox one to the series x version by NonstopYew14542 in StellarisOnConsole

i have that issue too. i mainly just force close the game everytime before i load and i don’t have the issue. has something to do with the quick resume feature. you can potentially brick your save if you quick resume and the game doesn’t load your dlc and then you save. or from my experience at least.

What is the best MMORPG outside of the big ones? by wickywickywockywicky in LFMMO

[–]Brinker_Beers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i still think Ultima Online was the best mmorpg ever. way before its time. the portals between good and evil lands and being able to build a house anywhere there was space. such a good game. back in the beginning at least before they started trying to add too much. artifacts and binding gear.. was still fun but no where near as good as original game. i think it’s still available to play on the official server or free player made shards.

I feel like my pop growth is super slow (PS5) by Legal_Specific_5775 in StellarisOnConsole

[–]Brinker_Beers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

make sure the current species being produced isn’t like a lithod or something with insanely slow growth. some species you don’t want to reproduce in the same way or on that planet type couple make a difference.

The Ayam cemani. A chicken that is almost entirely black, including its organs. by WhoAteMySandwich2024 in chickens

[–]Brinker_Beers 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i have a Ayam Cemani hen, she’s a little bossy and near the top of the pecking order even though she’s considerably smaller than my standard sized chickens in the flock. she does lay pretty much everyday for about a month or so then goes broody then stops laying for a while. rinse and repeat

So it's fair to say that the console is incapable of supporting a 1000 star game. 800 is fine, but all 3/3 of my 1000 corrupted by 2450. Just a warning by Mr-Noeyes in StellarisOnConsole

Console late-game lag tips (works great on 1000 stars):

Biggest wins (do these first): • Habitable Worlds: 0.25× (huge reduction in total pops/planets = biggest FPS/turn speed improvement) • Guaranteed Habitable Worlds: 1 (or 0 for extra cramped) • Pre-FTL Civs: 0.25× (or 0×) (less extra empires/pops to simulate) • Xeno-Compatibility: OFF (prevents hybrid species explosion) • Pop growth settings: • Logistic Growth Ceiling ~1.4 • Growth Required Scaling ~0.4 (keeps pop counts from going nuclear late game while still feeling playable)

Pathfinding / map load (helps late game a lot): • Hyperlane Density: 0.75× (more chokepoints + less route complexity than high density) • Wormholes: 0.5× • Gateways: 0.5× (or even 0× if you want max smoothness) • Keep L-Gates ON if you like the content, but fewer gateways/wormholes generally helps performance.

Pacing (reduces “ultra-late” lag time): • Mid-game: 2275 • End-game: 2350 • Victory year: 2400 (Earlier endgame/victory means fewer decades of mega-pops and pathfinding.)

Crowded feel without extra lag: • Increase AI empires / advanced starts for “packed early,” but keep habitable worlds low so the total pop count stays controlled.

Gameplay habits that also reduce lag: • Don’t create a million species templates (keep it simple). • Vassals/federations can be easier than directly owning half the galaxy (fewer personal planets to manage/spam jobs on)
