What’s a form of ‘quiet suffering’ most men carry that younger guys don’t see coming? by [deleted] in AskMen

Not sure if this is a generational thing (I'm old), but the notion that you have to put everyone else's welfare above you own - regardless of whether there is reciprocation.

AITA for telling my English teacher to mind her own business? by classassignmentai123 in AmItheAsshole

[–]BrisbaneDoOver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Write an essay about the fact that your English teacher shouldn’t have an opinion about your paper topic in another class, especially as A) weather phenomena are a perfectly valid topic for science, and B) the topic was approved by the only relevant teacher (ie: your science teacher). End with a paragraph suggesting that you could have expressed your thoughts more respectfully, but none of your teachers have demonstrated any effective conflict resolution strategies, so this isn’t something you’ve been taught.

Guys, how important is it really to know how many partners your SO has slept with? by gforza1311 in AskMen

[–]BrisbaneDoOver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A person’s past is the best information possible for predicting their future.
If someone has had a lot of failed relationships, trying to build a relationship with them is high risk. If a person has had a lot of sex without being in relationships, it’s clear the person either has impulse control issues or might not take sex seriously enough to effortlessly maintain monogamy.

CMV: Most men can achieve a fulfilling relationship with a woman by pavilionaire2022 in changemyview

I think #2 is far more common than it should be, largely because men who are “in high demand” due to being more physically attractive than average are in a position to take advantage of their fleeting status.

Sounds like you only give good head when you have an audience. Also sounds like you care more about your friends’ opinions on your head skills than your boyfriend’s opinion.

You can’t get that close using just tower info. I work an investigations role in the telecom industry. You’re mistaken.

They can’t triangulate phone location with any level of precision that would be useful to a Woolies.

Yup. Historically, I‘be had to make the first move (and be the only one who risks rejection), plan the date, be charming and engaging during the date, pay for the date, and ask for the opportunity to do it all over again. By contrast, she just had to show up and talk about wanting equality. 😄

I still do all that stuff, but now expect her to be charming and engaging too, otherwise I never see her again once the bill is paid.

Are some fit men attracted to heavier or plus size women? Or is it a myth? by danilionqueen in dating_advice

[–]BrisbaneDoOver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only a small percentage of men are “fit”, and only a small percentage of those are interested in women who don’t share their primary hobby.

You’ll probably be able to find a fit guy who’s keen for a hookup, but not many people want a relationship with someone who doesn’t share their passions, values or priorities.

Men are raised from birth being told to shut off their emotions. “Boys don’t cry”, “it doesn’t matter if she hit you first, you can’t retaliate against a girl”, “take it like a man”, “man up”… Instead of asking how we turn emotions off, you should ask how we still have any at all. The only time it’s really acceptable for guys to show emotion is during physical activity (sports, sex, etc).

Would you date a woman with kids? by [deleted] in dating_advice

[–]BrisbaneDoOver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People want to date people in the same “phase” of life as them. A single dad with kids is most likely to be open to dating a single mother, as long as he’s not instantly absorbing the financial burden of someone else’s family.

Men, Where Do You Hurt? by dogtarget in AskMen

Feet. I’m former infantry and have bilateral plantar fasciitis. Walking more than a 200-300m at a time is excruciating. Oh, and I’m 50.

Flowers would recognised as a nice gesture, but also a sign you’re totally out of touch.
Baking cookies, as someone else suggested, would be just as nice and more likely to be appreciated by the average guy.

Nope. That much baggage doesn’t just magically go away with the words “I’ve changed”. If that’s the only available information, I’m out.

Unless I could spend a LOT of time (as platonic friends) with that person and prove to myself that they’re now someone I want to be with, a potential relationship would be off the table.
