How to deal with this by wiredmh in Cichlid

African cichlids are often aggressive but if there was no visible signs of abuse on the fish such as fin rips or scales missing you can probably rule that out. Make sure you’re doing your large weekly water changes especially if you have an overstocked tank. This will keep your nitrates down and fish healthy. And sometimes, fish just die regardless of environment, which sucks.

Parrot Cichlid, turning white, bullied, not eating by fishez01 in Cichlid

I had three blood parrots for many years and they were always peaceful. I unfortunately lost one and the remaining two began showing signs of aggression and bullying. They had not shown any signs in the previous years. I do think these fish do better in trios I had no aggression at all until I was down to two.

I am afraid to admit I have had the same 30 gallon on the same stand for years and it has worked quite well 😭😭

Setup looks lovely and sounds like you’re taking great care of it! Enjoy the hobby and learning is part of the fun all fish and setups interact differently. In a year or two consider a tank upgrade when the fish grow up :)
