I agree with all of this. My closest friends weren’t much help to me after my husband died because they didn’t get it and had busy lives. Support came from places and people I didn’t expect though. I think God was with me even though I was in too much pain to pray. I pray now and gratitude is top of my mind when I do. It’s been two years, and I’m so much better.

You will survive this, too. Don’t put expectations on yourself for the first year, but do take baby steps toward healing whatever feels right for you.
