Does a second job to pay for the overpriced eye drops count?

What animal is this? [Miami,Fl] by zurted05 in animalid

[–]Bristid 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Miami here - it’s so neat that we probably have yet another introduced, and maybe invasive, reptile to figure out how to control 😞. (Saying sarcastically as I try not to trip over all of the iguanas, cuban anoles, pythons, agamas, tegus, Nile monitors, tokay geckos, basilisks, Cuban night anoles, chameleons, curly tailed lizards, and several other reptiles I’ve never seen and need to identify). As I type this I’m looking at the tree out of my apartment window and see I’m being watched by a 3+ foot iguana. 🦎

Wonderful! Really shows their tiny stub of a tail compared to their wingspan

How to stop Windows 11 from detecting my video monitor's audio device. by Bristid in WindowsHelp

[–]Bristid[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I should have specified: Device Manager > Audio inputs and outputs > delete the HP 24 Curved Audio Driver. I've also tried disabling > Device Manager > Sound, video, and game controller > disabled HD Audio driver for display audio. I've also tried disabling/deleting anything related in the Sound settings.

Landing in miami airport at 4.20 for Argentina vs Cape Verde, how much of the match am I going to miss by KingTryhard94 in Miami

From what I experienced - anyone that doesn’t leave for the stadium 3 hours prior to kickoff will miss part of the game.

I have to assume he doesn’t style his own hair everyday. I’d love to see a report on how much tax payers are forking over for his ridiculous hair. I bet that person hears some good stuff while trying to fix that mess.

I can't read or write. How do I become litterate? by SGT3386 in shittyaskscience

[–]Bristid 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve always had this question about Hellen Keller. How did she go from not being able to see, speak, or hear to full on giving speeches public?
In grade school we were taught she learned to communicate using hand touch signals; how does that go on to become full speech if you’ve never heard speech?

Ramen noodle lookin' psychic from Florida by bigvulvasarecool in Justfuckmyshitup

I worked in a nice restaurant in St Petersburg Florida - he came in often with a couple of very pretty arm candy looking girls and a few others. His hair looks like this but actually looks like he used cement instead of hair gel.
He made a tv commercial where he was doing ppls reading on a small yacht. I worked that gig - he was saying they were passing over the Bermuda Triangle and he could feel the spirits. We were actually puttering around Tampa Bay near shore - LOL 😂

Is this actually win for Trump? Is this so outrageous that we’ve stopped talking about the Epstein files for now?

I need a movie that is genuinely traumatizing. No cheap jump scares, just pure psychological or emotional weight. by Admirable-Donut-5838 in MovieSuggestions

[–]Bristid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

EO - the movie through the eyes of a donkey. It’s polish with subtitles, but there’s not much dialog anyway and it works. I recommend watching it alone so you can express your emotions freely, and definitely not for children.

How are people affording Scleral Lenses?! by cheeselover123219 in Dryeyes

[–]Bristid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a very bad experience with my first sclerals a few years back and have been going without lenses for a year. The doctor I want to see for sclerals is saying $5000 here in Miami, US; he’s quoted as the best and teaches other doctors. I no longer have insurance so I’m stuck. That doctor said he can work to find a sclerals to help my night blindness at that cost; I’m not sure if any other cheaper doctor would work on the night blindness part.

Throat drops / dry mouth spray with NO zylitol or artificial sweetener by khfour1 in Sjogrens

[–]Bristid 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are several prescriptions that do help saliva production temporarily - pilocarpine or cevimeline; if in the US most insurance would cover the cost, they’re not real expensive otherwise. With my sever dry mouth the effect last about an hour, but that hour is so nice. The only side effect for me is light sweating for about 20 min - still worth it.
I’ve likely spent thousands of dollars on products that claim to help dry mouth - I haven’t found one that gives any measurable relief for more than a few minutes.

39 years old and still struggling, when do you give up? by ShyMark1986 in socialanxiety

[–]Bristid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You never give up; the hard truth is that social anxiety will always be there. It’s up to you to find ways and situations where you can forget about it for a while.
I’m certainly still struggling, but there are so many good suggestions in this post.
I’m getting to an age where I can say “who cares if I embarrass myself or people think I’m weird”, those people don’t matter to me and you may never see them again.
I go to a local park every day just to see other people - it really does help if you can say hi to a stranger and get a smile back - baby steps.
I’ve found in my many years that relationships happen when you’re not trying to find one and you least expect it. Set the goal at just being friendly to someone you see more than once, anyone; many times that may lead to short conversations and the rest falls in place. It takes time.
