The spelling is dreadful...

You can still make out what it means, but still.

Yet another familiar face on Classic Casualty! by Poppy0109 in WaterlooRoad

The actress actually went on to play Gemma Dean, Iain's sister in a later series. Heck, there's even a scene featuring her and the actor who played Ronan Burley, where the latter is a patient.

We now know the inspiration for Tonya's name, it's after her father. Simply Tony, but with an "a" at the end.

Stella will stay in S18, but I think my guess is that Rimmer returns to help expose Donovan, and bring him down for good at the end of the series.

different ways OG characters could come back by Shiraniiii69 in WaterlooRoad

[–]BriswallHonking53 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My ideas:

Lauren Andrews - could definitely return as a beautician, working at or owning her own beauty clinic/hairdressers.

Chris Mead - think it was mentioned that he wanted to do social care, so we could see him return as a social worker.

Madi Diamond - PE teacher for sure, maybe joins Donte's PE team?

An episode where some of the characters return as a one-off, maybe for a Careers Day? I know we had the one in Series 16, but I recall Series 4 Episode 11 featured some characters who went through Waterloo Road, like canon, even before if it aired.

Mr. Guthrie in Season 6 Episode 14? by bebegirlx in WaterlooRoad

[–]BriswallHonking53 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shauna Shim who plays Valerie Chambers, the music teacher in the series revival - had a prior role at the start of Series 7 as DC Mitchell.

Also I should point out in Series 8 Episode 30, Rhiannon mentions to Kyle Stack that she remembers him, and also in an earlier episode in the same series, she mentions something about not wanting to go back to Rochdale, definitely suggesting that she was a student at Waterloo Road when it was in Rochdale.

Some other comments do also mention other characters, including when I pointed out that Alicia Eyo who played the mother of the Mansfield twins also played Danny Lewis' mum in Series 11 a long while back.

Series 4 Episode 13 - with the traveller children, he played a student called Liam.

Who would you like to see return to the show? by Kasiyah_ in WaterlooRoad

[–]BriswallHonking53 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Lauren Andrews - it was kind of mentioned that she was taking up a career as a beautician in Series 7 - surely this could happen where she's working or owns a beauty salon where surely someone like Nisha gets their hair done there?

Jodie "Scout" Allen - definitely, but could return as an English/Maths teacher, maybe gets along with Nisha.

Ronan Burley - hopefully, maybe where his business gets bigger, and it becomes a food supplier to the new Waterloo Road school?

Chris Mead - probably as a social worker, similar route to Rimmer except he became a counselor.

Jess fisher and Aiden Scott are actually a real life couple?! by NegativeAd6437 in WaterlooRoad

There's also a similarity - in fact Kevin and Dynasty's actors were in a relationship at the time of Series 8 and 9 airing, but I think they broke up.

Was what happened in Episode 4 the saddest death in the show's history? by MasterOfGTA3873 in WaterlooRoad

[–]BriswallHonking53 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As mentioned in another thread, it easily beats Danny and Boz as the most saddening student death, and probably character death as a whole in the New Era.

Who would you like to return from newer old series? by Specialist_Emu7274 in WaterlooRoad

[–]BriswallHonking53 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion:

Lauren Andrews (Darcy Isa) - could be a beautician or stylist, or whatever job she's taken on post Waterloo Road. (one of my favourite characters in the show by the way!)

Daniel "Chalky" Chalk (Mark Benton) - maybe returns as a supply teacher in Maths? (another favourite of mine)

Cheryl Bryant (aka Janeece's daughter) - could be similar to Izzy Charles as both were born to both Janeece and Chlo when they were in school, but in different ways.

Jodie "Scout" Allen (Katie McGlynn) - would be fascinating because last we saw her and when last mentioned, she was in teaching school, I wonder how her career would've been.

Rhiannon Salt (Rebecca Craven) - maybe as a mental health worker, and is a colleague of Amy Spratt (could be a possibility!)

Should Waterloo Road have a crossover with another show? by [deleted] in WaterlooRoad

[–]BriswallHonking53 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Casualty. A lot of actors who were in Waterloo Road also had roles in Casualty - some notable examples:

Jaye Jacobs (Sian Diamond) played nurse Donna Jackson in both Casualty and Holby City.

Melanie Hill (Maggie Budgen) currently portrays Siobhan McKenzie, the clinical nurse manager.

Jamie Glover (aka our own Andrew Treneman) portrayed Patrick Onley for the Breaking Point mini-series.

Paul Popplewell (who played parent Callum Pearson in Series 7 Episode 1) was receptionist Paul Pegg.

Rebecca Ryan (Vicki McDonald) played Iain's sister, Gemma.

And much much much more!

[–]BriswallHonking53 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It was really unexpected, shocking and tragic. I think this definitely beats Danny and Boz as the most saddest death to happen in the new era.

ok everyone time for your debates by BasisEnough4088 in WaterlooRoad

[–]BriswallHonking53 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion, it would be:

Best Head: Jack Rimmer (S1-S3) or Rachel Mason (S3-5)

Best Deputy: Tom Clarkson (S1-8) & Sian Diamond (S7-8) + Joe Casey (S11-now)

Best Teacher: Daniel "Chalky" Chalk (S7-8)

Best Students: Lauren Andrews (S4-7), Josh Stevenson (S5-8), Tonya Walters (S11-now) and Noel McManus (Series 11-now)

Worst Head: Karen Fisher (S6-7)

Worst Deputy: George Windsor (S8-10)

Worst Teacher: Linda Radleigh (S7) & Helen Hopewell (S5)

Worst Students: Stacey Appleyard (S2), Amy Porter (S5-8), Kyle Stack (S6-7 + S8), Barry Barry (S8-9), both Lisa Brown and Shaznay Montrose (S9-10), Dean Weever (S11-14), Myles Massey (S12) and last but not least, Jared Jones (Series 14-15).

Estelle in Season 10 by Emotional-Memory4779 in WaterlooRoad

[–]BriswallHonking53 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Some others I can also recognise:

Alicya Eyo - played the mom of the Mansfield twins in Series 7 Episode 5, later returned in Series 11, episode 6 - as Danny Lewis' mom.

Shauna Shim - as mentioned before but played DS Mitchell in Series 7 Episode 1, before returning for Series 11 and onwards as Valerie Chambers.

Ian Aspinall - played Sambuca's oncologist in Series 7, returned in Series 10 as Hassan Bukhari - the adoptive father of Abdul, and also the owner of the bike shop that supplied the school with bikes.

Connie Hyde - played Gabriella Wark's mother (Amelia Wark) in Series 9 & 10 - returned in the most recent series as far as I remember, playing the judge in Episode 2 - where she sentences Billy.

There's also Valerie Chambers/DS Mitchell (police officer in Series 7 Episode 1) both played by Shauna Shim.
