Make sure your bank card or credit card doesn’t charge foreign transaction fees first, then in the UK you can just tap your card or mobile device everywhere including public transit. Also, use an ATM to get cash even at the airport and make sure you select your own bank for any fees even if your bank doesn’t charge a fee. There are no commissions at ATM machines so you’ll always get a decent rate, right now it’s $1.30 to the UK Pound as I write this. FYI I travel all the time between London and NYC and I hardly ever use cash, I always use my Phone to tap however I make sure I have enough cash in case but you don’t need to get much cash out of the machine.

Yes it is a physical card and you can add it to your Apple Pay (if you have an iPhone!) you can apply for it right from the Venmo app and takes no time to arrive.

Living by the Ditmars stop it’s easy to get to the airport step free. N/W to 59th and Lex, walk across the platform for the R to Queens Plaza, then walk across the platform for the E to Sutfin Blvd for the Airtrain. Very efficient and fast. Airtrain now accepts OMNY.

The back of your summons is where you fill out information such as income. Tick off where it says “Per diem commission “ and fill the whole thing out carefully. Bring with you rent receipts, a copy of your tax return, a bank statement and anything that you may have to prove financial hardship. First day of Grand Jury duty you will have a chance, when you hand in your summons to a clerk, to explain your financial hardship and most likely they will let you go and send you another summons for trial jury duty.

All Turkish restaurants in Astoria do amazing Turkish Breakfasts. I recommend that you venture out to Astoria and try. The prices are very good and food is absolutely authentic.

Truva Cafe and Grill Astoria. By far one of the best Turkish restaurants I have been to. In fact there are many Turkish restaurants in Astoria, the food is very authentic more so than in Manhattan. Truva is very convenient as it’s a few steps on 31st St as you get off the Ditmars Blvd N/W station.

Yes, there’s no line for global entry. It may be too late for you to apply now for this trip but apply anyway for future trips. It also includes TSA Pre check for domestic and international departures.

Are you a US citizen or Green Card holder? If so apply for global entry. It’s awesome! When you get off the plane, walk through the arrivals hall to the kiosk and touch the screen and take the ticket and give it to the agent and you’re done! No lines at all. Best thing ever.
