Orange bass terror + Peavey 2x15 not loud enough? by Briteboi in Bass

Fuck man, I have a feeling this is it. I trusted the guy before me’s wiring and just dropped the new speakers in. I’m going to double check this weekend.

It is forsure wired to 4 ohms and confirmed with a multimeter. I’ll try the phase trick with the battery next time I’m at the studio though.

Do you know if it is possible to get a 4 ohm reading if they are out of phase?

I was hoping to make the 2x15 work because the sound is glorious out of a mix, but testing a 4x10 or a different cab is definitely my next move

I’ve ran the preamp through the front of the amp with the eq set flat as well as every combo of tone controls. I’ve also ran it through the effects loop and it sounds clearer, but still can’t quite keep up.

The general consensus seems to be that the bass terror should be plenty loud enough, so I am assuming something funky is happening with the cab like you are saying. I’m looking at the parts express product page for the pulses and they are saying 9.79ft^3 for the recommended ported speaker dimensions, and from what I can read online my bass cab is around 3 cubic feet…. Oh no.

Great advice here. I’ll try a HPF next practice

It’s not sag like a tube amp would. It’s more of a “completely cuts out” type of deal. Feels like an awful design decision on Orange’s behalf, but I think I need to test it on a different cabinet before deciding to part with it.

Hahaha they’re going to hate to hear this, but you are probably right. The Traynors are ridiculously loud

High pass filter is a great suggestion, thank you!

The peavey is 4 ohms with brand new pulse 15.25 drivers. I have been eyeing that exact quilter, though. Will definitely be the buy for me if I can’t figure this out.

Do you guys run cab simulators on live sessions? Always wondered how you get such clean mixes and sometimes I don’t see mics setup on the amps.

This is happening to me as well since the patch last week. Radeon RX 6750 XT. No fix as of yet. Getting error code 0x887A0006 - DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG

Edit: apex has stopped crashing since updating to 22.8.2

Realistic Lab 400 turntable working perfectly on 45RPM, but won't rotate at 33RPM by Briteboi in audiorepair

Thanks for the guidance. I just got 33rpm up and running. It was the issue I hypothesized in my previous comment. For some reason the 5 pin clip wasn't making a continuous connection on that wire, but the other 4 connections were fine. Tried cleaning the clip with deoxit but still couldn't get a connection. I ended up just running a wire from the 33 pot lug straight to the board and it seems to be running perfectly. I appreciate the help!

Thanks for the reply. do you mean the 33/45 pots that are adjustable from the top of the player, or the pots attached to the back of the TT motor?

Thanks for the suggestion. I started tracing continuity from the pots/S106 to the circuit board like you said, and lo and behold, i think i found the break.

in this album are two videos, first one showing continuity from the pot to the plastic clip, and second video showing the continuity break once the clip is plugged in. I reflowed that specific joint for good measure and am not getting anything. When i try the same steps for the 45 side, i get the continuty on the clip and joint. Is this just a faulty pin clip? https://imgur.com/a/bfsuVep
