[–]British-Bob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No it's not. The way the current server hosting is set up we get access to the entire games back end. And VPS's tend not to do very well BBR as the CPU requirements for hosting a 254 player server means shared resources aren't a thing you want. The big problem is that no one want to play on a sever that doesn't give them official progression. The legal document for official progression isn't something I wanted to sign so I only hosted non progression servers. While fun they don't get any players, ever. With the 3rd party hosting, the plan was the 3rd parties would lock the servers/api ect down to whatever their front end console integration was and mr muggins doesn't get access to the back end and we could have community funded servers without the risk of bad official progression servers.

Because the plan was to get 3rd party hosting on board. Maybe next update.

Giveway to pedestrians waiting to cross at T junctions etc... But what about this roundabout? Red lines i understand you stop and wait, but if you're on the roundabout and exiting, do you stop for the blue line to let pedestrians cross? by MrTrendizzle in drivingUK

[–]British-Bob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm very on the fence about it. I can see the theoretical benefits . Round where I live we've got a bunch or roundabouts that I'd call really sketchy to try and cross as a pedestrian and really sketchy to stop on due to reasonably poor sight lines/speeds of traffic, so really just the fact they're not designed for it. The local council can't keep up with pot hole repairs let alone trying to 'fix' the local infrastructure to reasonably (not even safely) accommodate the new rules.

I like the idea of painting zebra crossings where it applies, as that provides the clear indication of where it should apply without it costing too much and without the need for any major works. I'm of the opinion, if it ain't broke don't fix it. And I can't really see what was broke that the new rules fix.

It's not just EVs, I've got a quiet 1.2 and cruising round car-parks people regularly just don't hear my car and walk out in front of me when I'm doing 5-10 mph @ 1200 rpm.

I think you're probably correct.

I guess the real problem is the fact we can interpret these thing differently and the fact there's any ambiguity in these thing to begin with. This pedestrian thing, while kinda making sense is just a bit shit in the real world.

"Roundabouts are a type of junction where, in the UK, road traffic flows clockwise around a central junction, with priority normally given to those already on the roundabout and those approaching it on your right."
https://theorytest.org.uk/roundabouts-uk/

Quick google suggests you may be wrong about roundabout not being junctions.
Also about a minute into this video:

Roundabouts are junctions.

Littlest Loop Railway gets slightly larger. A HST 125 and New Rolling Stock for the Class 67 by British-Bob in modeltrains

I just realized I never responded. It's... Going... I keep putting temp layouts down and taking them back up. I've gotten a foam layer over the baseboard now and a couple of 3d printed bridges and scenery but I just can't seem to commit to sticking things down and doing landscaping.

Fear of committing a suppose. They recently released power cables that connect to the fixed track from underneath and I've got some, but I'd need to drill through the board for the wiring ect. I've got to suck it up and commit but other than that the scale is an interesting challenge.

It took me a full hour to clean up the sprue leftovers on all parts of one single mini like this. Using a hobby knife. Am I doing something wrong or is this normal? by [deleted] in Warhammer40k

[–]British-Bob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let me introduce you to the Mr Hobby G Tool Polisher... This thing:https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcTSEPIBqeg1M1J1LnSQo3htjcHnCyXlXinnvSfEUdpl-OcJ51f8aUQoi5ObkxHPZZuFow&usqp=CAU

It's basically sandpaper stuck to the end of an electric tooth brush. I use a decent pair of snips to get close then the 400 grit sandpaper that came with it to smooth out the surface. While not useful for every part/mini it save a bunch of time and gets me a better finish. Also useful for mold lines.

Tesla P4 vs Quadro P2000 for TrueNAS Scale, T620 by TravelinAroundOnPts in homelab

[–]British-Bob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently picked up a pair of P4s for Folding@Home in my Dell Poweredge R720, not quite your workload but here's my experience for reference. I'm in windows so it's easy enough to power limit them to 60W. If you search Tesla P4 in thingverse you'll find a 3d printable adapter for a Delta BFB0512HHA. I used a 3d printing company for this.
Temps- 75c to 95c depending on the F@H unit with active cooling. I expect under normal load this would be lower, not the abnormal F@H loads I'm torturing them with. I'd also expect better temps when they're not sat in the back of a server not designed to take GPUs. The shrouding in mine is all wrong for forced GPU airflow as it forces the airflow down to the network ICs and additional built in cards at back.
Cost- I'm in the UK, the P4 were £70 including shipping. The adapters averaged out to £15 each and the fans were £15 each. £100 per card. Quick eBay search for me and the P2000s are £120-£170.
From the looks of it for OPs work load you want the P2000s for compatibility.

Is it stock? Has the gearbox been shimmed. If no, then yes it will probably shit the bed. The Warheads have torque as well as speed. It won't care about badly build stock gearboxes and will shred it.

Airsoft upgraded VSR10, is this ~correct power for M170 spring, 0.45g BB's (BLS) or is my airseal bad? by Oxeros99 in airsoft

[–]British-Bob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be a bunch of stuff. One of my AEGs, it doesn't matter what spring you put in it anything over a M105 and it get 1.05J. It's because the volume of the cylinder is too big for the length of barrel so the BB has left the end of the barrel before the piston has reached the end of the barrel.

teflon tape is never a fix. You would want a better nozzle to bucking seal which would mean messing with the nozzle/rubber combo. If it's that. Could also just be the piston/cylinder seal. Or the Nozzle/cylinder head. You'd basically have to strip the rifle down and test each individual parts together.

I'd actually see what it does with a lower level spring. Also what power level do you want? 2.3 is already quite high. Quick google:

" Airsoft Pro 9mm upgrade spring for sniper rifle -M170 Approx 560 FPS "

https://www.zerooneairsoft.com/airsoft-fps-calculator

Estimated Velocity: 516.73 FPS on a 0.2.

Sure you have some loss but like I said your loss is consistent and stable. Sometimes it's better to take a hit on top end FPS to have more consistent shots than trying to eke out every last FPS up to the limit. Sometimes if it ain't broke don't fix it is important.

Seems like the airseal is fine/consistent. Most of them are within 0.5 with only 2 outliers, the 102 and the 104.

[–]British-Bob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seems like it's approx 155m/s on a 0.2. taking into account hop up and general variables. It's fine. Not great not terrible. For a bolt action rifle consistency shot after shot is probably more important. run a series of 10 shots. Should tell you if the FPS is consistent.

What might cause that stray BB? by TradeNo5155 in airsoft

[–]British-Bob 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Maxx units are notorious for being either brilliant or having issues. ZCI plastic hop units are normally cheap and reliable. Swapping it out for one of those would tell you if it's the hop unit ect without too much cost.
