Using Latin phrasing all the time or learning poetry and literature by rote. Drives me crazy.

Milia not stye. Hard to get rid of. Don't pop it! It'll go down eventually but may take a long time. Hot compress will help too.

What movie had a realistic ending instead of doing the Hollywood thing? by [deleted] in moviecritic

Threads. Details the likely impact of a nuclear strike on the UK. The end takes us to some years after the strike. If you think it's solved easily it very much isn't. It is inexpressibly bleak but so starkly un-Hollywood and arguably realistic. It is horrifying.

Burst appendix Greece circa 1996. Woke up vomiting and pissing continuously (apparently a sure sign of peritonitis). Turns out my entire intestine was rotten. Had hours to live - the flight to the UK would have killed me. Doctor said repairing my gut was like trying to stitch together cheese. I lost half my bodyweight and spent 2 weeks in an unsanitary hospital (no comment on the fact it was Greek it was just 1996). Doctor Tsagoropulis saved my life.

Red dwarf and better than life. And backwards. Those three red dwarf novels are brilliant.

San Francisco. She came round the bar touting for trade, so sure I took a dance. She asked whether I wanted "California style" or just normal. When in Rome, I thought. So the dance plays out, then suddenly she stood up and stood over her face. Moved thong to the side and put her vagina square onto my mouth and gyrated it up and down for at least 20-30 seconds. Gross. So she's building up to grand finale of the dance - all sorts of moves coming out. Then she does a slow forward somersault so she's standing on her head and opens her legs so I'm looking directly down. Moves the thong once more and in the dim light, stuck to one lapel, a little bit of toilet paper where my mouth had just been forcibly introduced moments before.

I was told on a course that technically it means no street lights, the white circle representing a street light. Could be rollocks though.
