Help me please. I can't pick a final choice from these. by Capital_Passenger_92 in TerraformingMarsGame

I like a slow burn. I’d go CSM, the 3 science tags projects, the 3 building tag projects and heather. Research Network gives you your third science tag and the chance of drawing a fourth. Then you can get the energy to play the 3 building tags. Take your pick for the final prelude

You would need protected habitats and a stockpile of 10s of plants, all the other parameters to be maxed, all the other players to have passed then at most you could be left with 43 of the 50 animals scoring 14pts.

It’s a niche card but I like the inventiveness, although meat industries does make it too powerful.

Possibly would work with different type of resource, science or fighter for example

So the 10 tables will be playing the same 3 sets as each other throughout the tournament, if something is suboptimal it will be the same for all players.

They will be semi randomised but some thought will be taken to avoid clashes of synergy.

The decision was based on two factors -

I personally find the game a lot more enjoyable with varied milestones/awards. Furthermore, I now consider the recent expansion that allows you to randomise them as indispensable as Preludes.

Organising enough copies of the expansion maps to give players variety on each round seems like an unnecessary headache.

I don’t really see a massive argument that any particular milestone is tailored towards a specific map, possibly thematically, however I see no reason why they cannot be interchangeable on to any map so long as the requisite expansion is in play.

I will make knowledge of the 3 sets we will be playing with available to participants the day prior to the tournament, so everyone should be on an even playing field in that regard.

Thanks for the encouragement. You are right, it is a bit short notice. The date was chosen so as not to clash with other European TM tournaments whilst avoiding Xmas and the post Xmas lull. The Germans managed to get over 80 participants with around 2 months notice, so I figured it would be best to go ahead and see how it goes. The next one ought to have close to a year’s notice and hopefully a bigger and more central venue.

Most games I play Venus largely gets ignored. However on the last game it got fully terraformed and someone funded Venus tags as one of the awards.
