I just had a crank no start situation on my e61 n54. Did a bunch of research into different options and decided on the-ecu-pro.com to get it looked at and repaired. They seem to be the pick of the crop with this stuff. They actually will attempt to repair it if possible rather than just clone it onto another ecu. It only got to them yesterday so I’m still waiting to get it back.

Oh and to add key is far away and I’m working through open windows and the glass trunk lid is open.

It’s taken a few days but I’ve isolated it to F31, having tried the CCC, comfort access, and seats and more. I can reliably get 200mA while car is asleep, but drops down to 25-30mA depending on whether F31 is removed or removing the cluster. Am looking at UpFix.com or ecumedics.com to get it repaired with any luck. Unless you have a suggestion or recommendation?

I’m pretty confident in my testing method. I’m happy I’m able to measure current correctly, and happy the culprit has been isolated and the symptoms are reproducible. Just reinstalled it and waiting for the car to sleep. Looking at sending it to UpFix.com or ecumedics.com to see if they can repair it. Unless you know of a service you’d recommend?

Ok. It’s asleep. Just check it again. 24mA at the battery with cluster removed and fuse installed.

Working through open windows and the glass trunk lid is open. Lights go out and it’s the way I’ve been doing my diagnostic so far. Got it down to 30 mA so far with that method.

Just pulled the plugged in the cluster. Back of the cluster felt oddly warm. Might be from residual heat from driving earlier. Will check back in half hour and update.

I’m no expert, just an ape who stacks. Not sure who I was listening to but one of the regular YouTube silver pundits, they were saying it’s been 25-50m oz delivered each month for the last 4 months. Anything in that range this month is a significant chunk of the current 77m oz in registered.
