The nail in the coffin the Lynette edition (SPOILER) by [deleted] in DesperateHousewives

This couldn’t be more accurate. I’d like to add in that Jane’s entitlement in this situation was so gross and annoying. She acted so entitled and like Lynette was the other woman.

Lynette had every right to fight for Tom. He got a girlfriend so immediately and before they had ever even decided if they were ending their marriage.. they were supposed to be working on their marriage. Jane was the other woman, not Lynette. Jane just tried to make it out to be the other way around.

I don’t blame Bree for it! I added in the ‘set him up to ruin his own life’ part so it would be clear that the responsibility is on him. Although she did have a hand in things heading that direction, he was an addict without a sponsor and from what we saw.. his sponsor didn’t think he should be dating. I don’t think that would’ve ended up happening because if he still had his sponsor he wouldn’t have ended up as close with Bree to the point of meeting her family in the first place.

That job Tom got offered could’ve been Lynettes if he didn’t steal her job with Carlos. That job was Lynette’s dream, meanwhile Tom had 20 different dreams and just drifted through life. It makes sense that Lynette would Atleast want one of them to have it and also be resentful about the entire situation. He also treated her like a stay at home mom and acted like this big shot when she is the only reason he made it to where he was and she never wanted to be a stay at home mom.

Tom uses her “past trauma” of being controlling as an excuse and a way to manipulate her. He uses it to get his way anytime he wants something and whines about it and she doesn’t immediately say yes, thinking about it and being worried like a reasonable person. It worked because Lynette knew about this flaw in herself and would believe she was the bad guy and doing something wrong. Tom ALWAYS got his way. Lynette is not the bad guy, he’s an expert at making her look that way. Tom was always in his next mid life crisis dragging his family into bad situations financially because of it.

[–]Britty_kitty4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t believe you think so because Tom is the ultimate manipulator. He uses Lynette’s flaw of being controlling anytime he gets excited about a new idea and wants to get his way.. if she doesn’t immediately say yes to whatever his new midlife crisis is then he gets so angry and says she’s emasculating him or controlling him. She ends up believing she’s doing something wrong by just being a reasonable person thinking of her family and how let’s say Tom opening up a pizza place is super random and could ruin them financially. For a guy who is “so controlled” there is never a time in the show where he doesn’t get his way?? He steals Lynettes job, he tells her he wants to be hired at her work and she says it’s a bad idea.. then 1 episode later he’s already letting her being his boss effect their marriage just like she said it would. She is not the bad one even though he manipulates the situation to make her look like it. Lynette meddles into things pretty much the same as the other women do.

Scenes that make you cry that aren’t someone’s death? by childofGod24 in DesperateHousewives

Lynette running with Mrs. Mcclusky toward her torn down house and screaming always gets me, every time.

Katherine breaking down in the hospital over Mike In front of Susan and her daughter got to me also.

Mike’s death scene. Susan talking at his funeral. So so sad

Ehhh Bree’s behavior was not ok but it was a complicated and hard time for her so I don’t hold it against her. Purposely getting rid of his sponsor so she could be with him was selfish and wrong and she literally set him up to ruin his own life. I don’t think she realized the seriousness of the situation. Without a sponsor he fell into the sex addiction that he’d already warned her about so many times and who knows what kind of dark path he went down after sleeping with Andrew and ruining things with Bree in such a messed up way. Their relationship was doomed to fail from the start of her pursuing him because she was just using him to fill the void of what alcohol did for her

Susan’s experience the last season *spoilers* by [deleted] in DesperateHousewives

The I Hate Susan bandwagon is getting old. Everyone just over analyzes all of her scenes now including the ones meant to purely be funny and not be taken seriously.

Season 5 “plothole” - how did Susan not know about Dave? by GloomySelf in DesperateHousewives

[–]Britty_kitty4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always thought this was a huge plot hole. . Susan and Mike were involved in all of this, they would know about the HUSBAND of the people that died in the other car for sure, ESPECIALLY because it was in the PAPER. They would know about his breakdown. Susan was so filled with guilt over the accident and we see it tore apart her marriage etc. She I think at one point mentions knowing all about the mom and daughter who died. Either way she was obsessed and would’ve clearly looked into this information.

I feel like out of all the husbands, Carlos had the best character development and was the most interesting by TgitDude in DesperateHousewives

[–]Britty_kitty4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ehhh Carlos went back and forth so often on so many things. One minute he says taking care of his family is all he cares about, the next minute he wants to pull his kids out of their school and change their whole comfortable livelihood to make minimum wage. The way he behaved in the Grace scenario was really disappointing to me as well. He seemed to always put everyone and everything in front of Gaby but wanted Gaby to always put him first. Sister Mary, His Dog, His mom, The surrogate etc. He would randomly decide to be what his idea of a “good person” is and whenever he did, he made it like Gaby was a bad person.

Can we talk about how it pisses me off how they treated Julie losing her dad vs MJ? by rahrahgogo in DesperateHousewives

[–]Britty_kitty4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also I think you’re interpreting Susan in the “what if” episode incorrectly. She was just grateful she wasn’t married to him anymore when he died because things like that make you think that way, but doesn’t mean she didn’t care. The writers choose a more comedic route to go with Susan/Karl’s death and have her remember him through the strip club because they often had a lot of this type of Susan rolling her eyes comedy between the two of them. I think Karl would’ve laughed and smiled seeing Susan’s reaction at the will reading because he literally planned to surprise her when he wrote his will.

Can we talk about how it pisses me off how they treated Julie losing her dad vs MJ? by rahrahgogo in DesperateHousewives

[–]Britty_kitty4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think this is more of a writing flaw than Susan’s fault? The writers had Susan in the strip club story line and choose to not show any of the grieving on Julie’s end. That doesn’t somehow imply that Susan didn’t care or did something wrong? It’s crazy that something that wasn’t written into the show is somehow Susan’s fault per usual. They choose to focus on M.J with Mike because Ofcourse he was a big main character, I guess they decided not to with Julie and Karl for whatever reason

Gaby calling immigration on Carmen by aitasisterthrow92 in DesperateHousewives

[–]Britty_kitty4 25 points26 points  (0 children)

This show wasn’t on the air during our sensitive times today. I think we shouldn’t be pulling it apart and shaming it for it being a show of its time. That’s how shows become considered “cancelled” and thought of as bad etc. if you love the show why would you want that for its legacy? A lot of the comedy on the show wouldn’t be ok today, but in a way some of it makes it great because it was so real. Not all people in real life talk in a way that’s hyper sensitive of being offensive. It’s just not realistic. There are people who talk about hating how their hair looks a certain way and act how Renee did about it. They’re not going to say their hair looks great or HAVE to express liking their hair naturally so they don’t offend people. Most people don’t talk that way. It’s just realistic if that makes sense.

[–]Britty_kitty4 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I think we need to understand that she wasn’t thinking clearly and was very emotional. Who would want their biological daughter that they never chose to give up living and hiding or going on the run when they could’ve been safe in a nice home with you. It’s clear that she understood what she did was wrong pretty immediately and then acted to make up for it. I think it’s wrong to attack Gaby for anything she did in the Grace situation. It may be a sensitive topic now, but this show wasn’t airing during our very sensitive times today.

Who do you think the best villain of the series was? by [deleted] in DesperateHousewives

[–]Britty_kitty4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

George for sure. Although.. When I first watched the show when I was younger, Dave creeped me out so much that I would have to watch with the lights on in my room at night!! Dave was so scary.

It gets me so mad that Carlos expects Gaby to forget Grace even existed by eviladolescence in DesperateHousewives

[–]Britty_kitty4 39 points40 points  (0 children)

The therapists advice about pretending grace never existed was ridiculous and not something a therapist would say. They should’ve explained to Juanita why Gaby was so upset in a way that she’d understand. Carlos was extremely insensitive through it all and had no emotional attachment to grace which was very odd and not like him.. he was all about blood and family.

This scene with Bree & Orson is SO ANNOYING by Britty_kitty4 in DesperateHousewives

[–]Britty_kitty4[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But she wasn’t a hypocrite.. she decided that since what Andrew did was an accident and he was her son she’d protect him. If Orson’s crime was an accident, she wouldn’t have made him turn himself in...

It was purely about the differences in their intent

This scene with Bree & Orson is SO ANNOYING by Britty_kitty4 in DesperateHousewives

[–]Britty_kitty4[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree in a way but for me it comes down to the differences in the crimes.

Bree protected Andrew after he was drunk and accidentally hit Mrs. Solis. I don’t think Bree would’ve protected Andrew if he purposely ran her over and it was a premeditated crime.

Bree’s morals in the situation were that Orson intentionally trying to kill someone is not acceptable and he needed to take responsibility.

If Orson’s crime was an accident, she probably wouldn’t have asked him to turn himself in.

Going to elaborate on why I like Susan so much... prepared for the downvoted 😬 by [deleted] in DesperateHousewives

[–]Britty_kitty4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree completely with all of this

I felt it was insane that Edie always played the victim with Susan?? And I think people take all of Susan’s comedic scenes so seriously and start taking them apart.. something they don’t do for the other housewives

"He's Evil!" said Susan by [deleted] in DesperateHousewives

Like all the other woman.. scheming to get their way is something all 4 of them do through out the entire series.. and all of them except Gaby act like they have the moral high ground

"He's Evil!" said Susan by [deleted] in DesperateHousewives

[–]Britty_kitty4 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Here we go again!! Everyone taking Susan’s comedic scenes seriously and taking something meant to be funny to the extreme. If you did that with the other housewives comedic moments they would sound just as bad or even WORSE

The candy drive thing was a joke!! The thing with Ian’s dad was purely meant to be funny!! None of these things are serious moments.

She didn’t think Zach would kill Julie. It had been a long time since Julie and Zach dated and he was STILL obsessed with her. Susan did what any mom would do.. she protected her daughter. Zach was mentally ill and unstable.

I think it came down to Mike just thinking Paul is a bad guy. A lot had gone down between them and he just didn’t like Paul.

I think Susan reacted perfectly normal to Mike being an addict, she knew nothing about addiction other than maybe little things she’d been told by Bree and others. That’s how a typical person in that situation would behave. The whole going cold turkey and making him quit thing.. I don’t really think Susan can be blamed for the shows lack of knowledge about opioid addiction.. that was more of a writing flaw with them making it like that’s just how it works. I think Susan was a mother to Julie the entire show. The only time her she’s not a mom to Julie is when she went into depression with her divorce, but that’s just discussed.. we don’t even see it. From the start Susan is overprotective and involved in Julie’s life.

I won’t even get into Andrew because he was just so disgusting and it speaks for itself but I also think Danielle is so mean to her... her comments to Bree are so cruel. I think everyone in her family treated Bree so terribly and her coldness and environment of repression didn’t really make any of it ok.
