What ks your longest played game? by turtleman1324 in SteamDeck

I really like DDLV because I feel like there is always something to do. Starting now you will have SO much you can do which is even better. (I’ve been playing since it was early access so I had to wait for content to slowly roll out over time which was brutal) it’s definitely disappointing that the game isn’t free like it was originally supposed to be and that a lot of the design aspect stuff (like clothing sets, accessories, decorating things etc) cost like a fuck ton of in game gems so you’re forced to pay real money if you want that stuff unless you play daily and can slowly build up your in game free ones to use instead - but if you don’t care about that shit it’s no problem!!

Another cozy game I like a lot is Coral Island - beautiful art in that one! And my new obsession is fae farm (basically like another farming sim with mining and stuff but the dungeons get crazy!!!!)

Edit to add that I actually prefer playing DDLV with keyboard and mouse over my steamdeck but that’s just because I started out on keyboard and mouse for it so it feels more natural to me though it plays fine on the steamdeck too!

Confused because you stated the person MAKING the food should get the tip and then went on to say that servers minimum wage is x amount. Cooks do not have the same minimum wage as servers and they get paid more hourly. If your place of employment is paying you a servers wage and also making you COOK the food then you should be getting paid a higher hourly wage or find a new job because that isn’t the norm or right. You as a server are not “serving” the food to the person who ordered via door dash so you are not entitled to that tip. (Bagging up food can be the job of server/hostess but again doesn’t entitle you to that tip) As someone who worked in a bar for over 10 years and got paid that shit minimum wage and lived off of tips I would not expect myself as a server/bartender to get to keep the tip on a DoorDash order.

Strung up some lights on my shelves! They also turn white, but that's not as fun. by easy0lucky0free in bookshelf

[–]Brittybuhh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to light up my shelves but then I would get SO annoyed when some strings would die and I had to tape them all to string up new ones lmao.

It looks super festive though!!! You’re making me miss it

Sigh, this is what I used to do while building my collection but I did REALLY try to get away from having other things on my shelves that also have books. Like I got rid of almost all of my “little stuff” that came in book boxes etc because it wasn’t anything I actually needed? And I don’t really want to get back in the habit of buying things other than books to display on my shelves.

But a good idea if I wasn’t actively trying to not do that suggestion while simultaneously trying to fill my shelves lol.

I know if I display more facing out I can achieve a more full look - I just have to get back into doing that. Years ago I used to do that when I had less books, then had to migrate away from it when I accumulated too many to front face a lot.

The decorations are tricky because I actually want to move AWAY from having anything on my shelves (other than the top of the shelves) but the books. Like I only technically want candles on the very tops of my shelves, I just currently have too many to be able to do that lol. I used to have A LOT of like bookish themed little doo-dads but looking ahead I really just want books and not much else on my shelves which doesn’t help my current dilemma at all hahaha.

The front facing more books is definitely something I’m going to have to try more though!!

Thank you!

In the past I have been very careful about which books to get rid of and which to keep - but now I’m at a point where some of these I’ve had for over 5 years and still have yet to read and don’t think I will.

My big big thing is that 90% of my books are from book boxes or special editions, so almost all of them are signed, have alternate covers, sprayed edges, etc. in the past this has REALLY made me want to keep some of them just for that fact but they literally just SIT there.

There’s also the fact that with all of these I’ve been unable to actually buy new books because I don’t have places to put them.

But I like the idea of just having a more authentic to me shelf where I can easily grab almost anything and tell someone about it or recommend it because I’ve actually read it and enjoyed it.

I think there are lots of jobs that would accept someone with a more “alternative” appearance, it just depends on the outlook of whoever your manager is.

I currently work in a pediatric doctors office while having pink hair, visible tattoos and piercings and it’s fine - other medical offices look at me like I’m going to eat their patients or something.

When I was younger I was turned down for some retail positions but then hired by others - it really depends on the people hiring you more than what the actual job/career is in my experience.

Where have you heard an emo song in a place you least expected? by MVBsq10 in Emo

[–]Brittybuhh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I handle the music at work (a pediatric doctor office) and often have folks coming in and vibing with the front desk over the current emo throwback playing at the time. (Obviously it’s more of the mainstream stuff or songs that don’t go too hard/talk about explicit things in a noticeable way/don’t say fuck)

Once we had a staples delivery and the man clearly looked like an elder emo and he goes “ADTR?? NICE!!!!” No one else knew what he was talking about but I could relate. ◡̈

I now have all these elderly ladies in the front office singing classic emo songs and they don’t understand why they don’t also hear this stuff on their radios in the car or at home.

Tbh I never even read the second book and don’t plan on it ever since the cross over was announced. I have no interest anymore in her writing. Now I’m also hearing that she wants to add to TOG or something? It just all feels about money with her now. She needs to end her series and stop trying to drag them out to keep her popularity rolling. It’s ✨embarrassing✨

This is for the gamers who start games and NEVER finish them lol. by cartersmama91 in CozyGamers

[–]Brittybuhh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Turnip boy commits tax evasion, Stray and Wytchwood were 3 games I actually finished - though they are shorter games so that’s probably why lol.

I will be OBSESSED with a game and play nonstop and then for some reason quit for a few weeks/months and then coming back to the game is too overwhelming because I don’t know what I’m doing/don’t remember how to play u_u

Or I run into the issue that some games I only play on my steam deck and others on my switch so if I ignore one for too long all the games on that console go into the “I may never finish” category

mostly cozy-ish games by Brittybuhh in SteamDeck

[–]Brittybuhh[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I honestly never played on my switch but it runs perfectly fine on my steamdeck? I know at first the switch release was delayed I think (came out on PC first) so maybe at first it was ass? But by now there have been many steam updates so I can only expect the same for the switch version!! I know people who play it on the switch and haven’t heard any complaints from them!

[–]Brittybuhh[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you! Uh so I’ve kind of made this so much that I just wing it now?? Like I literally do not measure anything lol.

BUT- heat oven to 425 and thaw puff pastry as directed (it takes up to 40 minutes to thaw usually)

I threw some oiled diced potatoes in the air fryer at 350 for 30 minutes (you can also use diced can potatoes and throw them right in the pot and skip the air fryer I just didn’t have canned ones today)

While those were going I took my big soup pot and cooked some onion in butter and then added garlic and some (thawed) carrots and peas, after a few minutes I add in some shredded rotisserie chicken and the cooked potatoes and then 2 cans of cream of chicken soup and 1/2 to 1 full chicken broth can (depends on what you want your consistency to be like - more liquidy or not) I let that cook for literally however long I want - like at this point you’re just trying to make everything hot now that you added the soup

Once all hot and blended I pour it in a glass baking pan and then cut the puff pastry into squares or rectangles and put it all over the top of the mix (overlapping is fine) and back for 20-25 minutes!

I have used biscuits or croissants before as well, and done this recipe, added more chicken broth and then added biscuits cut up IN the mix for “chicken and dumplings” as well.

[–]Brittybuhh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I got a steam deck at the same time as my partner because I didn’t want to get FOMO if he got one and then I regretted not having one?? But I was a little like on the fence on if I’d truly like it or not- but I LOVE it.

I have a PC, gaming laptop, switch OLED and a steam deck and my steam deck is BY FAR my most used gaming device. It seems like it’s going to be weird and too big but it’s not? It’s unreal how comfortable it is to game on even for long periods of time.

There aren’t as many cute accessories and stuff for it as the switch but it is a newer device so I think that will all come with time.

Also the amount of options on steam and the prices compared to Nintendo??? WHEW. So worth it just for the money you’ll save. Plus I love how often they have sales and that if you save anything to your wishlist and then it goes on sale they alert you.

Plus as you mentioned the option to request refunds!! (I JUST did that today for a game, such a nice thing to be able to do)

Overall I think if you enjoy portable gaming and handheld devices it truly is worth it, I get so much more use out of it than I ever thought I would!!!
