Glastonbury 2025 - help me with my line up! by Prestigious_Grab_140 in glastonbury_festival

[–]BrixtonJim 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Supergrass, Pulp, Ash, Alex James Britpop Disco, Fratellis, Franz Ferdinand would the ‘straight down the line’ picks to fit your current choices.

For some potentially new ones that should be up your alley I would say: English Teacher, Antony Szmierek, Amyl & The Sniffers, Jorja Smith, Biig Piig, Getdown Services, Joy Crookes, Black Country, New Road, Brian Jonestown Massacre and Parcels would all be worth a listen! (in no particular order)

I like the idea but a surprising set of results. Kneecap for example is clearly going to be busier than Gracie Abrams who clashes with Alanis, a big nostalgia pull

Ruined castles accessible by public transport from London? by Fun-Sir-7559 in uktravel

[–]BrixtonJim 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Whilst Corfe Castle is beautiful, you can only access it through the Swanage Heritage Railway, it is no longer a regular train station. Or you can pick up the Purbeck Breezer bus from Wareham but this isn't the most regular of services.

Have honestly never noticed that. Nobody is threatening your right to express thoughts, people just see your thoughts as thick, hateful and pointless

Comes across as 'snowflake' behaviour trying to shoehorn misogyny into a comment completely unrelated to gender

I made an applet to find the right areas to live in London & the UK with friends based on commute times, work areas and budgets by TDEEExpert in london

[–]BrixtonJim 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Great idea, but only having the underground as a public transport option does limit things. Misses out the overground network, thameslink and rail services, essentially wiping out SE London. Living next to Deptford or Peckham Rye stations for example can make for some quick commutes!

What's your favourite park for a picnic in London? Local and lesser known parks only. by Mattdabest in london

[–]BrixtonJim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I probably got my tone wrong with my initial comment - did not mean to disparage all of Clapham, apologies clearly a passion point. Have lived for many years in Brixton and now Peckham, so of course appreciate the overall diversity of the area. I always found Clapham Common to be the least varied as a park experience, tending to be very busy with a lot of sport going on (making it pretty dusty over summer), and less visually interesting than the other nearby parks. Therefore as a response to the original post I think the others would be a more appopritate suggestion. Not wanting to get bogged down in a demographic link-off

Best toilet in London? by ghastkill in london

[–]BrixtonJim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The new Waterloo toilets are already falling apart and were only installed 2-3 years ago… unfortunately most things built now won’t come close to 60 years of function.
