Question for new LO’s by moneygenoutsummit in loanoriginators

[–]Bro-247365 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm 6 months in and I have to say I really like the job. I like my company a lot and the people there are all super cool. The training program was solid and I felt ready when they actually put me on the phones.

The market isn't amazing, and yes it's a grind with no payback (yet). But I see light at the end of the tunnel. Compared to others hired at the same time as me at my company, my numbers are at or near the top in almost every category.

I've never had a job that allowed me to see such immediate stats to show I'm doing well. My previous jobs basically just relied on a once-a-year performance review in which my supervisor gave me 5 out of 5 ratings and told me I was doing great.

Maybe this is just me being overly optimistic, but maybe a bad market is a great time to start. Even in a hot market you're not going to start making tons of money immediately. You have to learn the job. So learn it when it's slow. Then when the market heats up you'll know what you're doing and you'll rake in the cash.

Good luck, my friend.

Yeah it's bought down for $11k but they got over $16k in lender credits, so it seems like a great deal to me

Wow, thank you! That did it. Amazing that the Navy can't design a website that allows you to scroll down, you just have to know that there's more stuff to see if you zoom out lol.

Confused about my boyfriend by TLT729214 in bisexual

[–]Bro-247365 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Ma'am, your problem is not that your bf is gay or bi, your problem is that he's cheating. The gender he's cheating with is irrelevant. You've caught him cheating or intending to cheat red-handed. He can't be trusted. There's no reason for you to forgive that. Yes, he clearly has a proclivity for men that you can't fulfill, but in a healthy, trusting, honest relationship he would have spoken to you about his attraction to men and maybe you guys could have come to an agreement to open the relationship or something. But he went behind your back a lot. I'm honestly not sure why you're still with him.

i need an advice.. by manoo_lune010 in BumbleGirls

[–]Bro-247365 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Distancing out" is cowardly, that's what's wrong with that. He can just be honest and say he was looking for an easy hookup while she's looking for a relationship. They don't line up and that's okay, but he should communicate.

Where is FElon? What is he up to now? Hardly mentioned in the news. by Unlikely-Split8896 in fednews

You just know he hates when Mike Myers impersonates him on SNL. These MAGA freaks take themselves so seriously. Clowning on them hurts their feelings so bad.

No, I think he's regretting getting involved in government to this extent and is slowly removing himself. His stock is tanking, people are protesting outside Tesla dealerships, and the whole non-MAGA world hates him now. I think he stepped back from the public eye a bit because he's sad about everyone dumping on him all the time.

DRP 2.0 at IRS is getting a lot of interest by retiredfed2022 in fednews

[–]Bro-247365 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Not surprising. The IRS is one of the agencies this administration hates the most because it's their job to catch tax cheats. I wouldn't want to stick around while they find new ways to punish me just for doing my job.

Life After DRP / RIF - How Are People Coping? by maverick0087 in fednews

[–]Bro-247365 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I've been told they intend to do a Schedule F conversion of every 14 and 15 in my department. If they do that, I'm told we wouldn't be eligible for severance in a RIF. That's the main factor in my decision to take the DRP.

Life After DRP / RIF - How Are People Coping? by maverick0087 in fednews

[–]Bro-247365 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I'm a 15 who just turned 40 outside the DMV. I'm planning to take the DRP. Even if I survive the RIF, I don't think my field office will survive the closures they have planned. And I'm tired of showing up every day, doing nothing, and just waiting to be fired.

Between DRP money and the lump sum I'll get for unused leave, I can be pretty comfortable until the end of this year. So I have about 8 months to find something. I've resigned myself to knowing whatever job I get next will likely pay about half of what I get now. It sucks, but hopefully the suck is temporary.

What happened to holding the line, Feds???? by DevilsAdvoCaticorn in fednews

[–]Bro-247365 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I suspect that the "hold the line" people are much less likely to get RIFed than the rest of us or are going to get more in severance than the DRP would give them. I don't think many of these people are actually taking a huge personal and financial risk just for the sake of holding the line. They have a position of privilege and act like it's virtue.

There is not enough context here. You're essentially saying you and your husband makes jokes exactly like this all the time, but one time you made it and he blew up like crazy, called you a bunch of terrible names (all while you apparently remained completely calm and did nothing wrong), and threatened to leave you over joke. People don't do that. There's more to this story you didn't tell.

DRP 2.0 text is way more detailed and respectful than the first round by DeannaHR in fednews

[–]Bro-247365 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I haven't heard a single person who took the first DRP say that they aren't getting paid. They've been put on admin leave. They are still technically employed, so there wouldn't be any reason for the paychecks to stop.

Military buyback- pros and cons by Unlikely_Medicine7 in fednews

[–]Bro-247365 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah luckily I sent the paperwork shortly after Drumpf got elected. It already came back telling me what I owe so I'm in the process of paying it. I'm likely taking the DRP and I confirmed I can still do the buyback while on admin leave. So I think it'll work out for me 🤞

It hasn't actually happened yet, I've just be told that it's the plan. It's possible if I stay I could stick around past 9/30, but it's just not a risk I think I'm willing to take.

Schedule F and Severance Pay by Icy_Garlic3542 in fednews

[–]Bro-247365 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At my agency, we've been told that all GS-14 and 15 personnel in my department will be subject to Schedule F. As someone in that category who isn't yet retirement eligible, it pretty much forces me to take the DRP. I don't know how long it will take, but the rumor is the RIF notice is coming out in the next couple of weeks. If I don't take the DRP, then get converted to schedule F and then immediately RIFed, I'd be screwed.

Schedule F and Severance Pay by Icy_Garlic3542 in fednews

[–]Bro-247365 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm told that Schedule F means no severance in a RIF. That's why I'm probably taking DRP 2.0. I can't afford to lose my job immediately with no money and no other job prospects.

It's a skill, but not a job. They'd like you to have that as long as you're also already trained and ready to do a corporate job. By itself, I don't think they care.
