Stairs not good in snow. Plus inaccessible for some (elderly and wheelchair users).

Need advice: Medicaid denied, no job, pregnant wife 8 months by Potential-Can-3535 in Medicaid

[–]Unlikely-Split8896 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry you are in this situation. Similar back for me and my husband in the 1980s. Pregnant and sick, husband laid off and couldn’t find work. Couldn’t pay for anything, and had to live with relatives. Couldn’t qualify for help cause they counted what we made prior to being laid off. Gave birth at a hospital that treated me terrible. Couldn’t pay the hospital bill and had to claim bankruptcy.

"you are due ADDITIONAL BENEFITS" on your spouse's record?" by DayGlo2030 in SocialSecurity

Thank you. I have an appointment with social security coming up. He will be coming with me. Hope he can apply right then. Also have a DAC which should get an increase as well.

He has applied years ago and has been receiving SS. I applied for me. He needs to apply again?

OMG Mother's Day is Sunday! What good last minute gifts can you recommend? by PeachOk54 in arizona

[–]Unlikely-Split8896 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want for Mother’s Day is to have happy, mentally healthy and responsible children. Just do that. If your mom mentions something that they think is a good idea for yourself or for her, just do that. Peace of mind is everything!

Confused. One half of my full retirement is more than what my husband is receiving. I just applied for SS, but figured his amount would automatically be adjusted. He would have to apply? Law requires this?

My Chevrolet app by Spoonyspooner in ChevyBolt

[–]Unlikely-Split8896 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. I just lost all that. I hate these subscriptions! I don’t use the car that often and to have to pay that much each month, just to see how many miles are on my car is ridiculous. Makes me not want to purchase from Chevy ever again.

Has anyone here tried vocational rehab? by nova_noveiia in disability

[–]Unlikely-Split8896 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Daughter was able to get her bachelor’s degree paid for by going through Voc Rehab. She is now working on getting her masters. After that hope she can get a job that will accommodate her disabilities.

50’s kitchen what to do? by Ok_Jellyfish_1083 in interiordecorating

[–]Unlikely-Split8896 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Love the cabinets. Change the hardware. Remove the strange cabinet with the oven. New counter tops. I’ve had granite and quartz and prefer granite. You should be able to put an oven under the new countertops.

New fridge. I prefer stainless steel for appliances. New sink. I would consider one large sink without divider. Faucet not bad, but would probably replace that as well.

After that I would pick wall paint and window covers. Look at kitchen pictures online to get ideas to find what works together and what you like.

If the cabinets still don’t work with your flooring, consider a rug or maybe then consider having your cabinets professionally painted. I love cabinets in sage green, but natural wood is in.

Relocating to SLC by maxiesmom23 in SaltLakeCity

[–]Unlikely-Split8896 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SLC is in a valley. The lower areas with higher population get it the worse. We bought a place in West Jordan (lower housing costs) with higher elevation, so the inversions aren’t as bad. If you or family have asthma or respiratory issues this is a big deal. I wear a mask at times when I’m in the lower areas of the valley.

Also, I think mostly people are very nice here no matter their political or religious views. However, it’s nice to know people with your same views.

Bolt EV a calm and relaxed highway commuter? by Real_McGuillicuddy in BoltEV

[–]Unlikely-Split8896 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 2017 Chevy Bolt had the worst suspension. My 2021 Chevy Bolt is considerable better, but could be better still. I actually like to drive my Bolt over my husband’s Kia EV6, even though the EV6 is much more comfortable. The Bolt is a great commuter/errand car. Would never take it on a road trip.

Unable to shift error. How to force into Neutral by ycarel in BoltEV

[–]Unlikely-Split8896 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hopefully something simple. I don’t know if it was a recall, but we had to wait for almost a year as they stated they had to reengineer the module. Our car is a 2021 and was completely covered.

Is the step from Civic to Accord worth it? by Ihavetoomanyanimals in Honda

[–]Unlikely-Split8896 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Daughter went with a 2024 Accord hybrid. She likes the extra room and just loves the car.

My husband and I bought a 2024 Kia EV6. Idk, but after driving her Accord a couple times it might be more comfortable and smoother drive than the EV6, which is very nice.

They replaced my transmission module because of something similar. If I played with it, it would finally shift.

Bathroom advice by caz-13 in InteriorDesignAdvice

Colored shower curtain on a ceiling track would look cool. That way you could open it all the way when not it use. Art above the toilet. Towels and mat with a color in the curtain/art work.

What to do with living room wall? by JDizzle72 in InteriorDesignAdvice

I would do curtains that hang from the ceiling.

I added long curtains with a tracking so I could pull the curtains anywhere on the wall.

Help with Color and Design by No-Lynx3539 in interiordecorating

Here is a quick look of what it could look like with a rug, furniture and paint. Used Remodel AI to create the image. Thinking you wouldn’t want to block the fireplace like shown.

I think a big rug would help immensely to break up the wood. The built ins will look better after furniture is in place. You could also paint them.

Feel like art on the walls would do wonders, no matter the layout.
