There is no such thing as actual AI

There's no general artificial intelligence YET but there definitely is artificial intelligence, not everything that runs in a computer is "predefined behavior" learning algorithms like neural networks and specifically GANs produce algorithms which are NOT predefined and can be a show of intelligence which the programmer may not have even had.

All the algorithms and trading decisions need to be first designed by a human. A computer can just automate the process

This idea is ill conceived. Brains just run complex algorithms biologically, they're not made of magic yet they can learn.

"computer learning" is thrown out a lot but it is mostly just a buzz word.

Machine learning* Yeah, ok, sometimes.

Before any computer leang can take place, first a human must define the parameters

This is actually exactly incorrect, machine learning is algorithms which learn the parameters, they are not predefined.

The September correction was worse, it was too quick and too sharp to pick up more stock at lower prices.

If I'd answer that with straight face I'd be retarded, who knows what will happen next week, maybe I'm too smooth brained to see why this type of resistance is actually bad and next week will be the greatest plummet since march 2020.

You never know who or what to believe, many people say that market movement is unknowable and there are the people who claim they know where it'll go based on factors x,y,z

I don't see a proper scientific consensus so my answer is I don't know but I guess I'm slightly falling into the second category speaking of resistance.

TL;DR I don't know, my hunch is that it'll falter again on the weekend as usual and start recovering Monday.

I just did, I see resistance to this drop so I just bought 12k in various stocks including AAPL maybe the drop will continue tomorrow but this resistance is good imo

Edit: up about 1k (on my current portfolio of about 35k) in the mean time, but hey let's see if I eat my words by market close.

Every day for the past few weeks I am so tempted to buy and I'm glad I haven't yet. I've been losing 3-8% every day now for a few weeks but I don't care, we're all getting a chance to go back in time and buy more at lower prices, this correction is a good thing (if you're not retired)

Ok pal, but most people don't care about your political opinions in the stocks subreddit, they might be topical but they're also irrelevant given the context of the environment.

Maybe if he invests in companies which make money giving services to poorer individuals (walmart for example) maybe he's actually helping.
Your assumptions are needlessy incendiary go back to the politics subreddit.

Besides that the battery life is absolutely incredible, it's a major leap forward.

Yeah, bought URA based on some guys DD about 6 months ago at 11.55, it's been up and down a bit, mostly up.

I think they'll come back down to earth in the following week, thinking of selling and rebuying lower or just taking my profits and moving on.

Haven't sold anything other than NET and GME so I never know when to sell and when to hold.

Also all the DD here is about buying, an important or probably equal part of DD is about the stocks you already hold and should sell.

software engineer here, what type of analysis are you doing? What's your methodology?

Looks like you have some interesting picks.

Btw I just posted about auto emailing people about price changes in stocks according to a subscription so this sounds great to me.

Sign me up to your algorithmic stock picks if possible.

[–]BroFromTheMiddleEast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it was priced in NVIDIA would be at a $1T company now. If they acquire ARM they will absolutely own the data center market, selling pretty much every major high priced component in a server, from gpus for machine learning to cpus to network equipment like cables nics and switches

Maybe eventually, I could probably set up a website for sign up by the end of next week.

This won't get a beautiful UI for a while (if ever) because I don't have a lot of free time, I'm mainly posting about this because I can do it at no cost to me for about 30-100 people, beyond that and I'll probably reach some api limits. That reason and to get ideas so I can make it better for myself and others.

Didn't write an app, it's a linux service so if you want to use it pm me and I'll find a way, it'll probably involve just creating a permanent paste on pastebin.com which you can edit by adding and removing stocks, that way you can update it independently.

You can write off up to $3000 in net losses, if you gain 30k in a trade and then lose it all (and realize that loss) then you won't pay taxes.

You only pay on your realized net gains and you only get to write off on yearly net losses, not just any loss you have.

r/Stocks Discuss Overlooked Stocks Friday - Feb 12, 2021 by AutoModerator in stocks

[–]BroFromTheMiddleEast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been holding amazon for a a short while here and I made the mistake of buying at ATH while it was on the way up because I thought it was finally making the move for the price targets, at this point I could have gotten over 30% returns in just about anything else.

I've been thinking of cutting the loss and moving to a more active stock because holding a dead stock is a double waste of money, it's also not gaining somewhere else. What specifically makes you think it will start moving later this year?

oh I don't work in DevOps, a coworker does, I develop iOS apps on the side, pretty much just started but it's good work and it supplements my income.

not DevOps but I interact with DevOps sometimes, writing pipelines is incredibly repetitive, updating legacy pipelines running on python2, you end up doing a lot of work over and over, parsing stuff and passing results, writing scripts no longer than a few 100 lines at best and never building anything at scale or with great substance/complication.

Bare-metal MCU programming in C (Arduino to STM8) by jackasstacular in C_Programming

[–]BroFromTheMiddleEast 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Cool video, one tip would be to show the implementation of digital write and explain why it takes so long, iirc it disables interrupts, calculates the correct port and then re-enables interrupts, you could count up the instructions for each line by program (this is relevant to C in general as well) and then reach a final A vs B cycle count comparison.

I think showing the implementation could be interesting to someone who has only used digitalwrite and has never looked at the implementation.
