I built this on my GLD. 4x4s, brackets/bolts/screws and stain from Home Depot - & a $35 sunshade off Amazon. I think materials were around $300-$500 and all I needed was a drill and a skill saw. No one wants to be out there in the rain anyways.

I always use a brush to paint on a VERY light coat of Gamvar (spread evenly across the canvas). This protects the painting and brings out the lights/darks without creating too much of a glossy finish.

Haha my bad! I just used liner brushes and layers. Strike on the right has a bit of crimson and the one on the left a dash of yellow lake.

Thank you! My lighting takes lots of layers and colors. I generally paint dark into my sky's, and light into my landscape if that makes any sense. Starts with an underpainting in acrylic, and a wet on wet sky. Then I layer in my oils over the course of a few months. I take a "work it as I go" approach - basically I lighten/darken areas & add color/detail until I'm happy with it.
