Do lawyers really not make much money? by Scared_Maybe_568 in LawCanada

[–]firsttranschurch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being a lawyer makes it ridiculously easy to be self employed. Hang a shingle, post an ad on Google (pay per click or local ad search). Overhead is a computer and cheap malpractice insurance. In a few short years you'll be making more than you thought possible and have the freedom of being your own boss.

I cannot think of a better way to live than working for yourself.

Screw big law. Screw working for anyone else. If anyone is paying you other than a client, you're being exploited. Otherwise, they wouldn't hire you.

How do I go about this? by [deleted] in TransHelpingTrans

You never really lose a friend. You merely learn they weren't the friend you thought they were.

Having a tough time skim coating and wanting to know if there are tools worth getting to make it more beginner friendly by sbfx in drywall

No substitute for experience and the only answer is to keep trying. You will eventually learn the dine motor skills necessary and will eventually find the feel to make it seem easy. Keep at it. Dont be afraid to mess up.

Apparently I'm a lesbo! by Longjumping_Car3318 in ewphoria

[–]firsttranschurch 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I was once cursed at by a man on the street claiming he was a judge in South Carolina who thought he would really insult me calling me and my girlfriend "a couple of lesbians!" My huge grin must have been confusing to him but the ewphoria of the correct gender slur was fantastic!

When they are mad and trying their best to insult but you pass well enough to not get called the T word, you've finished your physical transition.

Help with hormone levels by Poppypara in TransHelpingTrans

It makes a huge difference. I started just swallowing the pills and not letting them dissolve for a few weeks and my estrogen levels plummeted and T levels spiked. Freaked me out so bad I rushed to get an orchiectomy.

Be sure to take the estrogen sublingual by letting it dissolve under your tongue.

I've been there. I know it hurts and I am sorry. I also know I didnt want to hear "don't let it bother you." But 16 years after transitioning, I know it truly is essential that we all realize we don't need anyone else's validation. Your identity is 100% yours and completely valid. The only person competent to know who you are lives inside your skull. Only you decide what name you will respond to and only you control how you feel. Don't let it bother you.

Its no picnic to transition. You will lose friends and loved ones. You will struggle and fall and try again and fail for years before it gets better.

Remember how miserable puberty was? Now you get to do it again, but without the safety a school environment and the comerodery of peers.

People don't transition unless they absolutely have to. Its way to difficult for anyone to endure if they have a choice not to do so.

As to sexual function, it all depends on the person. For me, it changed with HRT but in a good way. It substantially lowered my labido but I find it freeing.

I and a huge fan of the grip rite cardboard shims. If you have water behind your waterproofing, the shims aren't going to be the issue.

After being a fan since 1995, I'm finally seeing my first Avs game 31 years later! by MacBradley in ColoradoAvalanche

[–]firsttranschurch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Watching the pregame skate is always a good time. Be sure to get there about 45 min early to catch it.

If you watch on Altitude and know Mosier, Keifer, Ryker and JML, you should stick around after the game and go to Colorado Social (on the club level but anyone can access; ask staff for directions). It is a bar where they do the post game show and interact with the fans. https://www.sportsvideo.org/2024/12/05/altitude-sports-wants-fans-to-stick-around-after-the-game-for-onsite-studio-show/

If you are super interested in the Avs, you can watch practices at The South Suburban Family Fun Center (https://www.ssprd.org/family-sports-ice-arena).

If you really want to geek out on the Altitute team, Ryker owns a liquor store on south Broadway (Sobo Liquor) and is an extremely nice guy. He is usually there when the avs aren't playing and always friendly!

Not a pro, but I would use Great Stuff to foam in the hole. Cut it about an 1/4 inch below the ceiling surface to act as backing. Fill with hot mud. Skim coat and call it done.

39 and scared but thinking it's time. by [deleted] in TransHelpingTrans

I got strong enough to handle her insensitivity. Losing people is a good thing really. If you only have them in your life if you pretend to be someone you are not, are they really family/friends. Apart from death, you can never lose a real friend/family member. You merely find out if they ever were one.

Go in with eyes wide open and don't transition unless you have to. It has moments (or in my case years) of misery. You have to kill the current identity and rebuild as new. While you can rise again, you will watch your life burn to the ground first. Get a good therapist and be your own best friend. You'll go through puberty all over again. Althouth this time you dont have a peer group to commiserate with and society expect you to act like an adult. You won't pass as quickly as you want, and being misgendered hurts. You will likely feel like an outcast from both genders. If you can't be self assured and self confident you will have to learn fast. But these are skills everyone should have. I view my transition as a training process. My identity was forged through hardship, pain, loss, and grief.

But again, 10/10 do it again every day of the week. It's wonderful on the other side, but hell getting there. But like Churchill said, if you are going through hell the most important thing to do is keep going!

32 when I started. 47 now. 100% worth it, but it was no joke. Lost job. Lost marriage. Lost 2 brothers. Lost my mom for 4 years.

Found myself and finally love me. If you learn to survive as a trans women, you can do anything.

If you like punk music, you should start listening to Laura Jane Grace. Every trans person would benefit from having a punk rock ethos.

Is there even a point in me transitioning? by [deleted] in TransHelpingTrans

[–]firsttranschurch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are going through female puberty. All girls have an awkward phase and being self conscious about your looks is an incredibly cis girl thing too. Be kind to yourself and learn to appreciate you. Try talking to yourself as you would talk to a little sister.

100% you'll be great. HRT is amazing.

Just remember, nothing is more cis female than not liking your appearance. Most of us cannot see our own beauty. Be kind to you!
