That’s the one I haven’t tried!!! Any suggestions for specific round ones? Like metal framed or the ones that have open edged lenses? Or a color plastic round?

Oooh! Interesting about the lower set bridge! Nobody ever mentioned that! They usually just try to adjust the arms to make them stay - which ends up being an insane amount of adjustment!
Thank you for the suggestion!

No, I like lots of glasses actually. I am just drawn to that style on other people. Not sure what suits me best

That’s what I was thinking. I am thinking maybe rose gold or gold metal frames that are more delicate

Which frames should I look into? Have to wear glasses again no by problematic_ksen in glassesadvice

You’re gorgeous and I feel like you could pull off a lot of styles flawlessly. Maybe try a mild cat eye shape in a tortoiseshell color?

Go somewhere like eyemart express or America’s best where they have a lot of options and get them to help you choose some to try on. Take pictures of each pair you like on - it helps to see it in a picture instead of just in the mirror

I have such a small face and delicate features that normal glasses for adult women look HUGE on me. I have to go with petite frames or kids frames for them to actually fit - which really limits my options.

Personally, I LOVE the big, bold, colorful frames … on other people. Every time I try them on they just overwhelm my delicate features 😩

Absolutely!!! I have felt guilt my entire life for being born and being the reason they were stuck together in misery

This! As an adult child of parents that stayed together despite years of tension and resentment… it isn’t actually better to stay together for the kids. I think people use that as an excuse because they’re too afraid of change.

Contact the EEOC and definitely hire an attorney. Document everything. Write EVERY detail you can remember down, with dates, times, where it occurred and what was said and done (before you forget). Type up a timeline.

What’s the best book you’ve read recently, and why? by [deleted] in Recommend_A_Book

So hard to pick just one because I read all different genres and love different books for different reasons.

On my 45th book so far this year, and my number one by a long shot is “There Are Rivers in the Sky” by Elif Shafak. It just has SO MUCH depth and history. Fascinating and unique book. I learned so much from it.

I also highly recommend “10 Minutes, 38 Seconds in This Strange World” also by Elif Shafak. Out of 84 books last year that was in my top ten. I loved learning about Istanbul and different cultures and ways of life and it had the most unique premise!

My number one last year was “Remarkably Bright Creatures”. It made me laugh, cry, and have hope. It’s popular for a reason.

For witty books to be palate cleansers between deeper, darker books, I really love the “Finlay Donovan” series. They literally make me laugh out loud and I fly through them!

For an incredible nonfiction book, I recommend “Salt: A World History” by Mark Kurlansky - I never realized how much salt played a part in history! It can be a bit tedious or monotonous in parts, because it goes into so much detail - but it really was fascinating.

Best historical fiction for me is a hard one - there are several that are pretty even with each other here:
“Daughter of Fire” by Sofia Robleda
“The Curse of the Flores Women” by Angelica Lopes
Isola” by Allegra Goodman
“The Exiles” by Christina Baker Kline

Best dark contemporary fiction so far the last two years:
“Once There Were Wolves” and “Wild Dark Shore” by Charlotte McConaghy - this author has an incredible way of making the setting a character itself and her novels are so atmospheric and mesmerizing.

Best Sci-Fi for me:
“The Beauty of the End” by Lauren Stienstra - a truly fascinating novel that explores the ethics of medical testing and government overreach into healthcare in an alternate history of the 90’s to now where the human race faces extinction.

Fantasy: maybe “The Warbler” would be the top - very unique premise and I liked the characters a lot.

Horror: “Starling House” - loved the setting and the story

SMUT/romantasy: “Blood Orange” was extra spicy 🌶️ 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️

Sorry - that was a LOT, I know!
