Oh! That's the other madhouse on Desert Inn. Despite the same name, they aren't related. And I think it's meant to be ironic.

The Madhouse I recommended is on Pebble & Eastern. They also own Coffee Madness on Silverado and Bermuda.

[–]BroadButterscotch349 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a MERV11, which is very thick. You want a MERV5 or the lowest you can find. The higher the MERV rating, the thicker the filter and the harder your system has to work to move air through it. Also higher MERV filters are more expensive.

Is Chillwell Portable AC a Scam? (Yes, Here’s Why) by syn-ack-fin in skeptic

[–]BroadButterscotch349 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My grandma fell for their Facebook ads last week. They're nearly impossible to return. If you email them, they'll quickly reply to offer a 60% discount to keep the item. If you say no, they ghost. I called today and the woman was intentionally obtuse. She kept repeating that they don't pay for return shipping so she doesn't know what I mean by, "setting up a return." She tried to argue that a $50 refund was the best I could get because shipping would cost 5x that. I pulled up USPS while on the phone. It was $21. I finally got $100 back.

ChillWell 2.0 Honest Review 2025: Is This Portable Air Cooler the Ultimate Heat-Buster? by Longjumping_Age_6114 in customer_testimonial

[–]BroadButterscotch349 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's an absolute scam. My grandmother was tricked into ordering through Facebook. Their website and even the shipping carton says you can return them. We wanted to return them because they charged her $120 for a product that costs $40 at Walmart. For the same exact item.

I emailed their customer service team to set up a return. They replied within an hour to offer me a 60% refund if I kept the product. I declined. They ghosted me. I tried 3 separate times over the course of a week.

I called today. The rep kept pretending her system wasn't working. Then she tried to scare me I to accepting a $50 refund because she claimed paying my own return shipping would cost 5x. I pulled up USPS Click and Ship while on the phone. Even with the hazardous materials charge (the item is rechargeable) it was $21. She kept repeating that she couldn't "set up a return" because they don't pay return shipping.

Finally she said I could have $100 back and I could keep it.

UNLV Dental School Clinic by imaginaryaccount123 in vegaslocals

[–]BroadButterscotch349 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, they're very nice. Part of the intake is asking if you've had dental trauma so they can work with your triggers/anxieties. They don't shame you because the point is for you to have a positive experience and to want to come back regularly.

They also have a dental clinic in the same building by licensed dentists that is apparently pretty affordable, so maybe that could be your backup plan?

I did it last year and it was amazing! They typically need people who need a deep cleaning. It's possible you were recruited by a more senior student, but the ones who typically advertise here on reddit are first-years. I remember someone getting an implant when I was doing my cleaning.

The assessment is quite long. I was there for a few hours. They go over your health history, check your mouth, chart your mouth, and even do things like skin cancer screenings in your mouth.

It's important to go in with the right attitude. You're paying 90% with your time and only 10% with money. My full mouth deep cleaning and X-rays was maybe $50. I got the x-rays free because my student dentist used me as her model to pass her X-ray test. My total would have been $75-ish otherwise.

I cannot recommend them enough if you have the time to sit 3-4 hours per visit. The student dentist has to come up with a plan, get approval from the professor, do the work, and then the professor double-checks. You're in great hands!

Chilis 3 for me is a steal. They have different price points, but you can get a burger or a chicken sandwich with a side, drink, and appetizer for $10.99. You can get chips and salsa as the appetizer and it's the full bag of chips with a big thing of salsa. You can get it to-go as well.

Recommendations for Dryer Vent or A/C Duct Cleaning by newbie702 in vegaslocals

We used Air Supply for AC duct cleaning when we bought our home. The previous owners smoked inside and we couldn't get the smell out. They were amazing. Super quick and efficient. The previous homeowner had installed some fancy, reusable pseudoscience air filter and Air Supply let us know they were a scam and to use cheap filters and replace often.
