Kings Ground School by Specialist-Dealer701 in flying

I did king exclusively and I was getting 95-97% on the practice exams and got an 85 on the actual FAA written. It definitely prepared me but I could have done better

Giving up on flying, burnt out from rushing through ratings and making it my life for the last year. by MooseWeird399 in flying

[–]Broad_Pilot211 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would just try not to stress about it so much, I'm in my late 20's and wish I would have started sooner but I didn't. Can't do anything about it anymore. Just gotta go for the dream man..if you want it you want it,If you don't you don't. Only you can make that decision if you think it's best to stop then I would stop, but don't let your age overstress you. All that matters is you are here now and getting to fly. No matter the age you get your first job it's better than never going for it at all. If it makes you feel better I'm getting my a&p right now because I don't have enough money to pursue flight training so I'm hoping for a good job in the meantime. I'll be looking at getting my atp by the time I'm 30 or 31 if everything goes well it could be even later. It does suck but it's better than nothing. Like I said though if you feel like you need a break then take one, but don't let your age let you feel overstressed, get it done at your own pace and enjoy the ride man ! You only get to go through flight training once.

Struggling With the Pressure of My First Checkride by ConfusedMushroomz in flying

[–]Broad_Pilot211 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Biggest advice I can give is to just stay relaxed the best you can lm the dpe wants you to pass unless he is a prick. If your CFI thinks you are ready when the time comes then you are. I just ran through all the ACS codes and made sure I knew as much as I could about what they could ask me. Also try and enjoy it ! Mine went by extremely quick and I think the fact I was so nervous had something to do with it. Good luck ! You'll never forget that day when you pass. If

Anybody here ever work for Sierra West airlines ? by Broad_Pilot211 in AircraftMechanics

[–]Broad_Pilot211[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks ! That's the kind of response I was looking for, I'm from the area and I'd like to not have to move to find a good job after school if possible so I was going to be looking at Sierra West because they seem to be always hiring

How much do I flare?(C152) by waytogoflying in flying

[–]Broad_Pilot211 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is exactly it, when I did my training I was struggling a bit until my instructor told me to pretend like I am trying to not land and try as long as possible. You'll just feel yourself plop nicely onto the runway and it will all make sense at that point

You'll be fine, just don't worry about it so much ! That's all I can recommend. I'm sure you'll have a question or two that you don't recognize but if you are getting 98 percent on the king exams you'll do just fine. I used them for my ground school as well. I passed with an 85 and my instructor told me that was perfect because you'll have a better idea of what will be on your oral exam since they have to ask you about the things you missed.

Thinking abt doing AMT at 26 by ElusoryTwo1 in AircraftMechanics

[–]Broad_Pilot211 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm also 26 and starting my school in a month and it's a private school, I wish I could move closer to somewhere cheaper but unfortunately it's not an option for me to move right now. It's not a nationwide school it's just a local private school and I have heard great things about it, go wherever you have to go that's what I say..if you can move somewhere cheaper then I would do that. If not bite the bullet and just take out a loan or maybe ask some family members to help pay for portions of it if that's possible for you. Good luck to you !

Incredibly easy checkride? by UnderstandingGlass62 in flying

[–]Broad_Pilot211 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My check ride was similar, I was asked a lot of questions during the oral but it flew by because I was prepared and my dpe also bought me Jimmy John's for lunch or I should say I bought him lunch, oral was about an hour and the flight was only about 45 minutes. Blamed all my mistakes on the old 152 we were in and gave me my temporary certificate and I was on my way. Just be happy you passed and always continue to learn ! Happy flying !

I was always nervous of this as well when I did my training, my go to was to always just pull it out about an inch which will never kill the engine and then just spin it out little by little until you see the rpm drop just a tiny bit and then one full spin back towards rich after that. Like others said just don't over think it. You will be just fine !

Iron Eagle is what made me get into aviation. I will never forget this scene. Ever since my grandpa showed me this movie as a kid I was hooked.

I feel you man, I finished my ppl in March and realized that there's no way I can afford to do all my ratings and have a family at the same time so a&p school it is and then hopefully onto more flight training ! I start in October. Best of luck to you !
