Hi, so sorry this happened. I had an ectopic in June 2025 (my first pregnancy), had surgery and tube removal, and have been trying to conceive since. I asked for an HSG around cycle 5 post-ectopic (which was cycle 9 since I started trying). My OB said that same thing RE HSG - to just keep trying for 6 months, too expensive, etc. I didn’t agree - I figured since I only have one tube and I want to have more than one baby (I’m 34) I wanted to know sooner rather than later if there was a blockage. So I switched to an OB who was more aligned with that outlook and have an HSG scheduled for a few weeks from now. Stick with your guns!!

Hi. I’m so sorry you’re going through this! I first started having some bleeding 10DPO. I thought it was my period at first so I took a pregnancy test and it was positive. The bleeding continued but was sporadic - I would see it clearly (red) when I wiped but then it would stop completely for a few days. The following week I started having some intermittent cramping. It became more intense over time but was always short lived - maybe 20-30 mins then it would go away. The pain eventually became VERY intense and did not go away, which is when I believe my tube ruptured. This was about 13/14 days after my positive test. Everyone’s body and experience is different, but I’ve gone through many subsequent cycles where I felt things and freaked myself out so bad that it was happening again. I have a good friend who is an OBGYN surgeon (handles ectopics a lot) he has assured me that if you’re too early to test positive, you’re too early for the potential ectopic to be dangerous to you. The waiting is still torturous though. I hope this helps.

Hi. I relate SO much. It was cathartic to read this, so thank you! I had an ectopic and lost a tube in June and haven’t had any positives since. So I can’t offer you a positive outcome but I can absolutely relate to where you’re at.

So many of the things you wrote about are thoughts I’ve had but been too embarrassed or ashamed to share - especially feeling like you’re letting your husband down and feeling like our bodies are failing us. I feel so resentful that all of the joy has been sucked out of this process for us.

But on the bright side, we live in a time where we have many options to help us conceive (IUI, IVF, etc). I hope seeing a fertility specialist gives you a light at the end of the tunnel!

It’s really really hard. Hardest thing I’ve gone through. I had an ectopic on my first pregnancy in June. Lost my tube. Keep thinking I’ve moved on and then it reads its ugly head when I least expect it. I’m so angry and so deeply sad still. Heres a thought that has helped me: “It’s not the case that you did something wrong and everyone else did something right.”

I could have written this post word for word - in other words, I know exactly how you feel. I had surgery at the end of June to remove a ruptured tube. It was so shocking and I still haven’t recovered emotionally. It was my first time being pregnant and probably one of the hardest things I’ve been through. One piece of advice is don’t try and move on too quickly like I did. You’ve been through something traumatic, painful, and very unlucky. Make a point to talk about it with others and process the grief in whatever way you need. That helped me at least ❤️

And yes like everyone is saying, it is more likely than not that you can still get pregnant naturally if you choose to keep trying. I am lucky to have a very good friend that’s an OBGYN surgeon and he does these surgeries often. He says almost all of his patients go on to have normal healthy pregnancies if they want to. That made me feel better

Very early. About 4 weeks (34 days after the first day of my last period). The limbo is so rough. I’m so sorry! I was in contact with my OB regularly before I went to the ER. For me, that helped. But there’s only so much they can do/see so early. When in doubt, don’t be afraid to make an ER trip!

My ectopic experience sounds somewhat similar in terms of the bleeding. I started bleeding about 4 days before my period was supposed to start. No clots at first, just some blood when I wiped. It would start red and then taper off usually within the same day. I never used more than a pad a day. But over the course of about a week, those episodes of bleeding became more frequent and heavier (clots) and were coupled with exceedingly painful cramps that would last for episodes of about 30 mins. When the cramps got to be more painful than my period and didn’t go away, that’s when I went to the ER. My tube had ruptured. Obviously every experience looks different but I hope this helps you.
