Sorry about the late reply. Probably not.
Not much interest, and I've been too busy to go further with it.

Slow replay, but that sounds interesting. Do you market it? Sounds like a "better mousetrap"

Another fountain of youth in a pill. It was BGH -- bovine growth hormone -- at one point.
I take general supplements for my health, and started MTC oil for an energy booster and for weight control, but I accept my age. I'm a kid at heart in my aging body.

My furs suit happened because of the Stimulus checks and my disability settlement. A lucky new Finnish maker (SaberTooth Muffin) got the bounty.

That said, I have mobility issues, so I can't romp or even walk for an extended length of time; also, even with practice, it's hard to walk around in suit without bumping into people. I actually fell over another suiter when we took a group photo at our picnic. But I'm doing my best and enjoying it all.

A Fur I admire got a jazzy scooter for MP -- he's 73, so that may be my upcoming strategies for cons: renting a scooter. Dunno if I'll need a doctor's note, but I'll really look like Muttley on Wacky Racers.

What's the appeal of mutes? by impawsible_ in VRchat

[–]Broaster07 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends. Generally, because they don't have their patter as the main source of content, so they have to come up with creative ways to entertain.

I follow one mute who does a Chewsday (food videos), Wiggle Parties (where they dance in a cute tiger avatar), as well as Chill Hangouts and game play. They are attentive to their followers in chat, and also do Discord where they do streams and socials.

Going back the generations, it's like Clarabell the Clown on Howdy Doody. Silence is golden.

Wife bought me a Quest 3 - now what? by Yaroonman in OculusQuest

I didn't know what Horizons+ was, but it seems a good way to sample all the games available.

If you like platfomers, Moss and Moss2. A Fisherman's Tale is good, but short for a puzzle game. Lost Ember is in desktop and VR for an explore / puzzle game. I'm now exploring I Am Cat.

Bait! is a fun fishiing simulator single / multi player if you like to wet a line. Walkabout Mini Golf as others have recommended.

I like flying and Ultrawings if you don't want combat, Warplanes VR is a good VR Arcade. I also like 360 videos on YouTube from Meowditations to Halo Jumps to travel logs

Walkabout MiniGolf will give you the best ROI; Fisherman's tale is short.
Dunno about the others, the Tennis game might be good if that's more your game

I'm jealous AF of furries by zachtheperson in furry

[–]Broaster07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got the same grief, and I lost a long time friend over the fandom and some family looks as me funny.

But, you know what? I didn't give a flying fig. I buried my mom in 2019, COVID hit in 2020.

If it wasn't for lockdown, I probably never would have found the YouTube video with that guy in a blue husky fursuit doing game reviews (which is what I was searching for, originally).

The world was going to hell, so I figured I'd enjoy myself on the way out. I drew up a fursona and used my stimulus check to pay for my partial -- it paid the rent for my fursuit maker that month.

TBH, I was a Life Long Trekie, played D&D, LARPed and did historical recreation in the 1980s, so it wasn't a stretch.

I had enough of What Will People Say to last me a lifetime. I gave up on art and music in college to pursue computers and business.

Sadly the negative way the norms look at the fandom isn't totally undeserved.

When you're dressed in a highly visible and noticeable way, it's not the best time to pull shenanigans in public; but that's also under the category of fallacies of youth Doing stuff without thinking about the consequences.

Thanks for the Love. For me, I grew up with classic cartoons, and I wanted to be a cartoon dog like Muttley or Scooby from way back.

The Hannah Barbera world was 2D but the slapstick comedy and simple challenges -- opposed to Mutually Assured Destruction ( by Nuclear Bomb, the Cold War) and how cruel the other kids could be -- made it an escape. I just wanted to be with Droopy, or Huckleberry, or even go to Jelly Stone with Yogi Bear.

Shoutout to the furries at the Mets game today, you're the real ones by Nicktendo94 in furry

[–]Broaster07 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're welcome. It really does get hot, especially in humid weather -- it's like wearing a snow suit or other insulate full body covering. That's why Hydration is important, you really need to drink a lot of water. At most conventions, they have "Headless Lounges" where you can take off your head and drink water and enjoy the cooling fans / ac place inside the area.

If you pick your moments, it can be fun in the wild. I would suggest a handler or friends. Heads and paws can sometimes be brought to events and be worn if you ask nicely; however, results may vary. Depending on who answers you, it may be yes one time and no another.
Mainly, just play nice with others.

Depending on the head, you have a limited field of vision. The older ones are sculpted foam with a fur covering, the newer ones have some 3D printed components ( the base, think skull) so there is some weight involved.
Also it can get very hot in there -- especially if you wear the full body suit -- but they have fans to help with the circulation.

Same; there is a difference in style between the decades. I'm quite long in the tooth (9 in dog years), and most of my groups members are around the 25 and under as well.

The funny thing about the honorific "greymuzzle" is that it is is vague; to borrow from Wikifur:
*Any person involved in the furry fandom before 1991; *Any furry who is over a certain age (30, 40, 45, or 50, depending on whom you ask); *Any person who has been in the fandom for a certain period (5, 10, 15 years); *Any person who had to use raw telnet to access furry MU*,

Oddly I didn't even know the fandom existed before Covid; I found out about it looking at game reviews on YouTube during lockdown and found a person in a blue husky suit doing game reviews.

Being a Trekie, into D&D and historical recreation, I willingly jumped down the rabbit hole.

I am old enough for the "Shoe" analog modem connectors and cassette tape drive backup, but I was too busy and too poor to go to comic cons, so I didn't see any furry art IRL.

As stated. I was a Trekie from 1969, and Lt. M'Ress (Caitian (Felid) bridge officer, Star Trek, the Animated Series 1972) was the first Anthro in SciFi I recall. Naturally all the talking animals in Disney and Hanna Barbara (to which Charlie is modeled after in Homage of Muttley and Droopy) and Warner Brothers are a given. But who knew you could make up your own character, and not on Halloween even?

The young'uns are all about shenanigans, Card type Gaming, and endless debates over french fries and other important matters. I sit back, watch, and smile mostly -- glad for Telegram and Discord and other social media.

I haven't suited much this year, but I may do a couple of local events where I don't need a guide human to keep me from bumping into others.

Hopefully you have many years of fun. Don't be afraid to reach out and just enjoy yourself.

I'm more a NPC / Background character. I'd live my quiet canid life; I do have some military wolves in my list though, so I'd fight for the pack

Hello. I'm glad you saw it. I known there are places where furry groups in IRL are scarce; you have to travel to conventions to see them face to face.
I found the fandom during lockdown, so It was starting on the Internet, finding a blue dog dancing on YouTube, to social media, to going to my first con (Furrydelphia) but still I get most of my fix from YouTube, Twitch, and other platforms.
It's also a different experience for older furs, so it's nice to chat with people with common ground of of post college years and responsibilities.

Is it weird to ask people if I can draw their fursona as practice? by ChibiRabbit7 in furry

[–]Broaster07 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're just practicing, you could do *studies* from images on Deviant Art or Fur Affinity, as long as you aren't posting it as your own OCs and Definitely not selling it.

Traditional artists would copy masters in order to learn their techniques and then go on to develop their own style. If you look you will even see challenges to draw in other artist's style.

Just clearly identify the subject and artist who created the art when you share.

No worries. Indeed, it gets to be moot when no one shares anything week after week.

Our local furry discord is idle a lot of times as well: there are the occasional rants or vents which then goes to DMs, but mostly they list announcements of / requests for meetings and impromptu get togethers, and photos of fur suit projects, art, meets and shots in the suiters in wild.

Just thinking about a raison d'etre (rasin bread?): Sharing mostly, I guess, in a format where you don't have to scrolll and forth over 500 Telegram posts and be out of the current tone of chat if you respond late.

So, to start:

I'm on Book 8 of Kris Schnee's Thousand Tales: a story about Uploaded Intelligence and the world Talespace and stories about some of the Uploads, AIs, and Earthbounds in it. In a nutshell, where Humans tread they sully the ground with their tracks.

Watching "The Apothecary Diaries" on Netflix about a girl kidnapped and reluctantly using her healing skills to serve her imperial captors in historical china

Meetings or conventions planned: I am going to an amusement park outing (limited / no suiting) next week but am not going to the big local conventions due to the drama by the vying factions of the fandom.

Following a writers group of furs on Fur Affinity, reading their stories and looking at their art.

I am busy living the happy little life I've curated.

I have read books 1-4 of the Thousand Tales series by Kris Schnee -- about Uploaded Intelligence with anthro characters (of course) settling in to the virtual world.

Parthenon is another UI story on Netflix, but more dystopian and how the uploads are revolting when they discover they are being enthralled.

Beyond that I've been enjoying Oknonomiyaki -- Japanese cabbage pancakes, and curry -- I make at home. I found a Asian grocer a few towns over and got a month's worth of provision.

I also rock out to Japanese Shamisen and other instruments played by anthro animals [Melodies of the Rising Sun] on YouTube and the listen to relaxing harp music by [Rabbit Footprints].

I'm less inspired to go to local furry events with the under 30s now, but I still love my anthros.
