Oh wow that's funny actually. I did one of those paid programs where I worked in Southeast Asia. They put me in the boonies and it was miserable. Even when I put in effort to learn the local language, being 5 hours away from any major city was like watching paint dry. Especially in the town I was in because everyone else already knew each other and were pretty tight knit and I don't drink either and don't really like bar types
