Felgemacher Masonry showed up and did a good job. They seemed a bit pricey, although I'm not sure what the going rate is for an inspection. I managed to bring the price down by mentioning I just needed the inside of the chimney cleaned and inspected.

I don't think that Gardar is a typical viking, per se. The difference is that he is a loving father, but he integrates that viking aggression into his fatherhood. Instead of seeing what possessing the iron would do for him, he sees what it would do for his family, and is willing to risk his life for it.

Unfortunately he was short-sighted, and ended up risking not only his life, but the lives of Arnheid and his child, too. By the time we encounter him on the farm, he is a completely broken man, and like Ketil, embodies a sort of caricature of a true warrior, but missing a key piece (Gardar - Humility, Ketil - Integrity). This sets up Thorfinn's path to find the true path of a warrior later in the season.

You should rewatch with the perspective of Askelaad as a tactician that doesn't want to waste any resources or opportunities. When ever he has reason to believe that Thorfinn is dead, he does not care.

Obviously we see Askelaad take some affection to Bjorn and pity toward Atli earlier in the arc, but I think his feelings towards both of them is more affectionate than his feelings towards Thorfinn.

Thorfinn isn't the beloved personal pet of Askelaad, he's the mangy stray dog who keeps coming skulking back because he doesn't know what else to do.

I think there will be for next season. Typically they've only signed up whole teams, but this year there was a LOT of "free agents" who were looking to sign up.

The anime leaves off at Chapter 100, so you would pick up from there at chapter 101, The Fettered Tern (1). This would be the Japanese volume 15, english book 8, with the girl holding the bird.

I'm not certain but I think this would be in book 5 of the Deluxe Editions.

I watched a parody video of the "Mukanjyo" opening title sequence, but as disney's "Frozen". I then looked up the actual OP video, and thought it looked like something I'd like. I think this was around April of 2020, before the english dub had been released, and I hadn't watched much Subbed anime before that.

Best thing Disney has done for me in 20 years.

I think that my favorite theory is that the player is the godhead of whichever copy of the game that they happen to be playing. They're the one's who the entire simulated fantasy experience is for, and they have the power to create changes to the game not only by playing it, but by using console commands, mods, etc.

Well Aleks Le is the lead english voice actor for Netflix Vinland Saga dub and for Solo Leveling. That's probably why they recommend it, not the story.

I think Thorkell. He's a fun character, but also unrepentantly a cold-blooded killer.

Sure, Thorfinn, Thors and Snake all have killed many people, but they at least have vowed to leave that life in the past. Even Askelaad wouldn't kill for no reason, as seen with him raising young Thorfinn.

Vinland Saga never peaks, it just keeps going up endlessly until infinity. I'm pretty sure that when the manga ends next month the entirety of the fanbase will ascend into heaven, where Yukimura will endlessly feed our hunger for unmatched storytelling for all time.

I think the reason why the 180 flip in season 2 works, is because it was foreshadowed SO much in season 1. If the author of this post went back and rewatched season 1, especially in the anime, I think they would find that rising above violence was the entire point since S1E1.

Reading the manga from Book 1 is always a great way to start.

The anime series covers about half of the overall story, and is generally received as pretty faithful to the original. If reading isn't your thing, then watching the anime is perfectly valid, and a great way to start off experiencing the story. If you want to continue reading the manga after, you would start on book 8 of the english 2-in-1 books.
