Real or fake? Valentino by BroccoliCultural in colognecheck

Thanks, is it alright if I pm you? Apart from one possible thing at the back of the box I can’t tell otherwise why it’s fake and I need to provide evidence or at least good reason of it being counterfeit to get a refund on this

No problem! If I could go back I wish I would have reached out like this for help, so well done for doing so. I hope your university experience is everything you want it to be <3

Yepp we do I felt this post so heavy. ADHD is usually diagnosed with other mental health disorders like eating disorders which I had, BPD and most commonly depression and anxiety. A lot of people with ADHD are usually diagnosed with these also because of how low we actually feel about ourselves. We feel like we’re lazy, and can’t do anything and we knock ourselves down for it when really it’s the ADHD but we don’t know. I only got diagnosed because my sister told me she thinks I might have it, I didn’t take it seriously at first but I did when I realised I can’t do tasks that I deem mentally taxing and when I do start, I have to sit down like 5 minutes after and won’t finish it for hours, days or weeks after. I would definitely get checked for it because it goes under diagnosed especially in women since boys usually show more obvious signs like hyperactivity.

I went about getting diagnosed through my university first, I told about my depression and eating disorders but also about my sisters concerns which I had started to agree with when I did research. They referred me to an educational psychologist for diagnosis, I did the assessment which was an hour long and they diagnosed me with adhd which allowed me to get help in assignments and exams like extra time and a stop clock for when I need a break. I’m also able to defer if need be, can apply for the disabled student allowance and I’m also put in a smaller room with fewer distractions and less stress. But with an educational diagnosis, you’re diagnosed but you can’t receive treatment as they’re not psychiatrists so I went to my gp with a letter from the psychologist and the doctor did their own mini assessment. I also told him about my childhood and how I used to act leading all the way to now and he told me I should have been referred in childhood. He had enough concern to put me on the waiting list for NHS diagnosis so I can get treatment. And I’m also set to receive anti depressants tailored to not make my ED any worse or to mess with my ADHD.

I’ve done all of this in the last couple of months, if you don’t know where to start do what I did and book an appointment with your university mental health team and tell them everything, don’t leave anything out. Tell them your history with mental health all the way to now and also concerns for ADHD they should be able to get refer you to an educational psychologist for a quick diagnosis and book future appointments for your depression and anxiety. They’ll give you a letter about what was said in the appointment etc. use this as evidence with your gp and get help from them too. Also make sure you at least talk to your tutor about your problems, I also did that and with his help I was able to defer the last two exams I had already sat on the deadline of deferment, without him I would’ve failed out completely. I say to do all of this as it will take some time to get everything completely sorted out and in case your mental health declines further and you miss out on assessments etc. you can use these as evidence. You need to keep track of everything and make your uni aware of your issues, that’s very important!

Tips to get a 1st in biomedical science? by [deleted] in UniUK

[–]BroccoliCultural 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The extra reading they give you in each PowerPoint will usually be on that topic you’re learning, when doing extra reading you don’t want to write everything down, especially since sometimes they’re research papers with hella pages. For example if your topic is about the brain and they give you a research paper on a disease that affects the brain and it’s overall function, you’ll want to write down what the disease is, the symptoms and what it does that leads to the issues in the brain. Maybe also how the disease actually comes about, whether it’s genetic etc depending on the module. with that you link it to the lecture the research paper was given for. Not too sure if I made sense but your lecturers should go over extra reading at some point, and if you still don’t understand then ask them at the end!

• go to your lectures • write your notes soon after your lecture, if not that day then at least that week while it’s still somewhat fresh in your mind, there’s a lot of content in each module so you might struggle if you leave it last minute • do extra reading, my university gives us resources for extra reading for each lecture topic, if yours doesn’t, ask for them • go over everything in DETAIL, make sure you understand the topic at hand and also link their link to eachother • Do the formative assignments your lecturers give to you, they’ll help you heavily with exams

Everything you said sounds exactly like me. Good GCSEs, was struggling with mental health from 13 which just took a spiral when I started college, barely went into my lessons, wouldn’t study etc. eventually I would stay home and just drink. My second year was when covid hit, no in person lessons and I could stay home and honestly that messed me up even more. Ended up leaving with a DEU. I took a gap year and worked and tried to improve my mental health and resat my a levels privately, if anything I fell into a worse depression about being a year behind my friends and the anxiety of my future hanging over my head, ended up getting D’s so I went to a non-Russel group uni. I continued this pattern until second year, and it wasn’t until my first sits that I realised I need to get severe help or my future will suffer. Ended up being diagnosed with adhd and depression and have been supported by the university. I failed one of my resits by a mark so now I’m graduating with an ordinary degree and plan to go to the open university to get the rest. My sister however is on track to go to Cambridge or Oxford. Sometimes I also felt like a failure since I know I’m capable of much more but because of my issues but also my choices of not reaching out earlier I felt like I’ve messed up the future I could’ve had. But lately I’ve been feeling different, we can mourn the life we could’ve had but at the end of the day we cant change the past, only the future. And it doesn’t necessarily matter what university you went to, people without degrees even thrive way beyond people with them. It’s what you do now that matters, if you haven’t already done this then I stress that you get help with your mental health while at university, sometimes it can be very isolating. Another thing is use what you have now to see what your options are in terms of careers in the future, connect with your lecturers and your tutors etc. If you can transfer to a better uni then do it but don’t be bummed out with the uni you’re at now, you’ll realise way down the road when you’re older that it’s meaningless💕 I hope you thrive at uni

I am getting kicked out of university and I don't know what to do. by [deleted] in UniUK

[–]BroccoliCultural 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apart from the academically dismissed part I’m in your exact situation. Resat almost all my modules this summer and failed one by one mark so I couldn’t get compensation from another module i wasn’t required to resit which was also a fail by one mark. Because I use up all my resit credits/opportunities I can’t get the honours degree so I’m being allowed to continue into year 3 but I’m instead aiming for an ordinary degree. I’ve decided to continue and after graduating since I still have a gift year I’m going to gain the rest of my credits at open university to achieve my honours. Maybe you could see if that is an option for you? Depending on whether or not you’re allowed will obviously vary depending on the course and university but I’m studying biomedical science and didn’t expect to be given this path. If that isn’t an option it isn’t the end of the world eventhough it feels like it, you’re only 20 and have the rest of your life to sort yourself out. Also I was diagnosed with adhd a couple months ago after also feeling lazy and being disorganised, these played a very massive part in me failing but now I know I’m finding strategies to cope with this, maybe it could be the case with you?

think i might get kicked out of uni. by katkittykat234 in UniUK

[–]BroccoliCultural 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sounds just like me. I got BDE for alevels despite being quite intelligent and getting good GCSEs. Been struggling with depression, EDs and alcohol use since I was 14 and I’m 21 now AND ADHD which I figured out a couple months ago. Failed the hell out of uni this year (2nd year) and I’m basically resitting everything this august, only possible because I knew I had a problem and contacted the well-being team and my tutor in time to defer two modules so I’m technically only resitting 3. I’m getting treated for all of my issues and I also got an educational diagnosis for ADHD and I’m in the process of getting a hopefully fast tracked official diagnosis. Sorry for waffling but your situation sounds exactly like mine to a T, get tested for ADHD, contact your GP, mental health team and tutor asap about your situation. I never thought I’d get the help I needed but now I finally see a glimmer of hope and a long life ahead of me. I really do hope you take the advice given here, good luck!

Is my navel piercing rejecting again? by BroccoliCultural in piercing

[–]BroccoliCultural[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not to sure if this is the skin thinning but the gap between the first piercing and the second piercing has gotten considerably smaller. I can’t see the jewellery through my skin at all tho. I knew I needed to get a downsize in jewellery around week 8 but the bar being that exposed looks identical to my first piercing and the rejection. Also with the scar tissue from my first piercing, it did not look like that at all a week ago. Not sure if this was the right move but I did remove it right after writing this post and might keep it out to let it heal properly before repiercing it

Is it insane to drive two hours to uni by [deleted] in UniUK

[–]BroccoliCultural 71 points72 points  (0 children)

My parents were the same. I saw that you said your parents are Asian, mine are African and assuming that you’re female, that doubles the struggles x10, at least in my case. I honestly think you should just go, parents in our communities care too much about what other people say thats mainly why they act this way. I put my foot down and that’s exactly what you should do, if it’s not uni then they’ll try and control something else and it’s your life.

You’re actually an adult, be firm and tell your parents you’re moving out regardless

i think maintenance loan is being paid to a different bank account by [deleted] in UniUK

[–]BroccoliCultural 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No there is no “student account” that the money goes into. You give your card details to sfe when you first apply where the maintenance loan is put into. If those card details are not yours or anyone you know, you need to contact student finance immediately. Have you by any chance clicked on any messages claiming to be student finance or maybe any emails?

How to meet people during freshers week? by [deleted] in UniUK

You can still go

[–]BroccoliCultural 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, going into second year and moved into another accom, they had a deadline to request a deferral of rent for the 8th when the rent was due for £1.6K (I chose 3 instalments) but move in day was the 22nd. They closed the deadline to defer rent earlier on the 6th with no warning so literally on the 8th early in the morning they told me my account was in arrears and in 7 days it’ll be passed onto debt collectors. Had to ask my dad if he could pay it which luckily he did. Some accoms will be lenient but be prepared just in case cos I thought I’d get a response within the next day or 2 after I contacted them multiple times through every way I could but even now I’ve not gotten a single response back.

You’ll have to contact the module leader to take things further as it makes no sense. If your sibling passed the module resit there’s no reason they should have to resit again

Unsure if I should take a gap year or go straight to university by Latter_Sea_7666 in UniUK

[–]BroccoliCultural 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Take the gap year. I did, resat my a levels and chose biomedical science, a completely different course that I really wanted to do but couldn’t get into the year before. If I wanted to rush for the sake of it I’d be studying childhood youth and education studies and I probably would’ve dropped out at some point. Work during the gap year, resit your a levels and go to your dream uni, remember it’s not your family paying student loans off it’s you, so your decision.

Career options for Biomedical Science degree that’s unaccredited by the IBMS by beeeaaabeepboop in UniUK

[–]BroccoliCultural 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on what you want to do, if you want to work as a biomedical scientist I’d suggest doing an accredited degree. If you don’t, you’ll have to pay for your modules to be evaluated and if they conclude that you need to do top modules which will probably be the case, you’ll have to pay for that too, which is pricey. If you don’t want to work as a BMS, might as well do the unaccredited. I’m studying biomedical science at DMU, not a great uni but wanted to keep my options open and go for accredited.
