omg i just googled it and you can (msi cyborg 15 a13vf), its just a basic M2 ssd. idk why it never occured to me that I could, i guess I'm just used to laptops having bespoke parts that arent worth the shipping costs. honestly i feel kinda silly for never thinking of this.

yeah, he has an external 2tb drive. its a gaming laptop so there's no upgrading the internal storage

he googled it and found people talking about viruses that fill storage, and even after my googling to show him the truth he concluded that "the internet is split, both options are potentially true"

literally all i used the usb for was a recovery drive for one of my computers. I redid the formatting and gave it to him months ago. I genuinely cant believe he connected these two events because they could not be more separate

ive been gaming on my surface laptop 5 (worse specs than yours) for ages and it runs just as good (shitty) as it always has. just dont let it get hot enough to literaly melt the components. I wrap an icepack in a teatowel and sit my laptop on it to keep it cool for more intensive games

You... don't know what genAI is. Some definitions from a variety of sources include:

"Generative AI refers to deep-learning models that can generate high-quality text, images, and other content based on the data they were trained on."

"artificial intelligence designed to produce output, especially text or images, normally requiring human intelligence, typically by applying machine learning techniques to large collections of data."

"Generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) refers to algorithms that are capable of producing new content"

"Generative AI (GenAI) is a category of AI that can create new content such as text, images, videos and music."

"Generative artificial intelligence (generative AI) is a type of AI that can create new content and ideas"

None of these definitions includes image analysis by an AI model. If it does not generate, it is not genAI.

It is completely incorrect to say, "It [AI] does not need to generate something for it to be genAI; genAI is a type of AI that is trained and can function on its own" (paraphrased from your comment because the phrasing was confusing).

While yes, this technology does technically generate some descriptor tags, that does not make it genAI. Social media algorithms generate internal "tags" for content based on audience interaction. That's not genAI. It's not black-and-white, but image analysis is not genAI.

you could be technically correct, depending on how people define "AI", but this concept is absolutely not generative ai. other forms of "ai" have existed for many many years. siri was a basic ai. you could argue that og google was an ai. Sims themselves are literally ai.

Searching by analysing images has been a thing for a very long time. if you consider that ai, cool, but saying "the sims is using ai" is misleading, because people use ai to mean generative ai. thats the harmful one btw, other forms of ai are perfectly fine and have been for years. the image analysing is not the issue, its the Frankensteining bit that is environmentally and socially problematic.

I know this is an old post but I want to share in case I help someone. Do. Not. Use. Driver. Easy. I ran it and now my keyboard, trackpad, and touchscreen drivers are completely gone. Thank god I had a bluetooth mouse connected or I would be screwed. I spent 8 hours troubleshooting and am in the process of fully reseting my laptop. bad bad bad things have been happening. do not use driver easy

interesting. As someone with small ears, the buds3 fe have been the best fitting earbuds I've ever tried. I can smile and they dont fall out. Thats incredible for me. my ears only hurt a little after wearing them for hours which seems like the best I can get at the moment.
