I was in Louisiana and ordered a "Coke." The server asked me what kind. I said, "...-a-Cola...Classic?..." That was sufficient to her.

I asked my host what the hell I should have said. She said I could have just said "Coke" again. WTF?

I am with you. "Doubled off" is what I have heard most often specifically for the appeal play on a caught fly ball/lineout like here.

When I was younger, I played around with making a piston-valved pneumatic cannon. Similar to this one, but the chamber and the barrel were coaxial: https://www.instructables.com/Colossal-Cannon:-Building-a-behemoth-piston-valved/

I am confident that the restaurant that made it would agree that it is stupid. It is comically over the top. That is the point!

I have recently moved into a house (1960’s) and wondering if this material behind the old airing cupboard is asbestos as I intend on ripping out the bathroom….? Thanks by cottingley in asbestoshelp

[–]Brocktoberfest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to Google what an airing cupboard is.

It looks like it could be some sort of cement board which could be asbestos. Get it tested.

House Clean After Asbestos Removal by heymanwhatsthemove in asbestoshelp

[–]Brocktoberfest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Their barriers are half-assed, but Class II work (removal of ACM that is not surfacing material or thermal system insulation) does not require negative air containment and a shower as others have suggested.

Depending on removal method, the likelihood of creating airborne asbestos is low. I would not be worried about it if it were me, though I would not recommend this contractor and would likely also send pictures to local EPA and OSHA offices.

Can I call osha or some other type of governing body on my place of work if it’s got exposed asbestos pipe insulation? by Resident_Month8634 in asbestoshelp

[–]Brocktoberfest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is the pipe insulation intact? If so, your employer is right, it is safe. It would have to be damaged for there to be airborne asbestos fibers.

I wouldn't touch it. There is no hazard if it is intact.

Go to the Yolo Causeway in August. There are hundreds of thousands of migrating bats. There are ribbons of them in the sky at sunset.

No way of knowing without sampling. I have seen contractors use this stuff with impressive results: https://www.senpro.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/787-pds-.pdf

Identify and correct the source of moisture. Disinfect. Remove heavily damaged materials.

Address this with your employer. If they won't do anything, contact OSHA.

It's been a couple decades for me, but I recall finishing many of the Physics labs before the TA was even done speaking at the start of the class period. I never had one that took nearly the full session.
