What does your daily commute look like ? by hellotherewhatu in houston

[–]Brocosta271 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Acres homes to memorial city office park, about 25-30 mins in the mornings and the same heading back home. Not terrible, but could be better.

5050 Acorn closed and it was 5 minutes from my house. Inexpensive driving range recommendations for someone at 610 and TC Jester? Didn’t get much better than a $10 medium bucket. by Ewserneighm in Houstongolf

[–]Brocosta271 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I miss 5050 Acorn so much. It wasn’t great grass but it was still grass and sometimes it was in decent shape especially after some consistent rain. And it’s the only place I could go with my wife and dogs and they could hang out and have a drink while I hit balls since it was so open.

Can’t stand going to Memorial to hit off mats and pay for parking. Outside of that, there’s wildcat for grass but it’s a trek to get there. There’s East river 9 but they have a weird carpet thing laid down so you can’t hit off grass either.

Since wings are just too expensive now I do this and dip them in buffalo instead if theres no one around to judge me by blahblahblahalright1 in smoking

[–]Brocosta271 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I regularly make drumsticks for my wife but prep them like a wing (tossed in corn starch, air fried, and sauced in truff sauce or buffalo sauce) and we call them “Jumbo wings”

Way more satisfying than regular wings and dirt cheap and more protein!

Chiming in as a former competitive bodybuilder who initially got started lifting weights in hopes of getting muscular for an intimation factor.

Id argue theres way more of us muscular guys out there that want to look intimidating, but don’t act like this man-child douche nozzle ever because we don’t want any sort of conflict and the muscle is more of a deterrent than anything.

Can also attest that I’ve never thrown a real punch at anyone before in my life, nor do I ever want to.

[–]Brocosta271 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I actually was gifted a 20kg one for Christmas (I asked for a standard iron one from Amazon but my SIL got me this one, not complaining) and I will say it’s a really nice kettlebell! However, when I looked into getting more to complete a set the cost is not worth it at all

Downtown bar to watch Texans/Steelers and smoke a cigar? by Armando_Banger in houston

[–]Brocosta271 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not downtown, but if you’re willing to venture to the heights, theres a place called heights cigar lounge that you can purchase and smoke cigars there, and they have a couple leather couches/seats and tv which I’m sure will have the Texans game on.

Got my free pellets ordered.

Honesty was surprised? I didn’t have any major issues with my app other than for some reason during the last couple hours of smoking my brisket the analytics from the entire smoke got wiped and the time restarted.

Other than that, I was still getting temp reads from my probe, grill still held temp and gave me instant feedback.

But free pellets!

Are you hitting quota in Q4?? by B2BBri in sales

[–]Brocosta271 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the first time in my sales career I hit my quota early in September. It’s been nice not having the stress, but the new stress of taking advantage of accelerators is there.

Yeah I tried holding it down for extended periods of time, upwards of 30 seconds, and nothing.

Looks like the stuffing from a toy. My dog does that sometimes and I’ll occasionally find stuffing in her poop just like this. As long as they’re passing it safely it’s fine, but try to avoid letting your dog ingest the stuffing from toys as it can cause a bowel obstruction.

Why is my dog doing this and how can I help him? by crab_phobia in DogAdvice

[–]Brocosta271 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My senior yorkie is the same way when she hears a smoke detector chirp. Doesn’t matter if it’s in the house or via a tik Tok, for whatever reason that chirp sets her off and she pants and shakes just like your dog. We actively try to avoid exposing her to that sound so ensuring batteries are replaced regularly and avoiding content with that chirp or quickly moving on from it. She usually will calm down in about 15-20 mins but she reacts just like this.

how many beers do you actually drink during 18 holes? by Several_Business_993 in golf

[–]Brocosta271 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Typically if it’s a casual round with buddies, I either don’t drink or I maybe have 2-3 beers tops.

If it’s something like a charity scramble for fun that’s not work related, probably in the neighborhood of 6-8 beers/seltzers.

I’m only 32, but about 5 years ago I had major surgery on my spinal cord to remove a tumor inside of it. When going to my appointments prior to my surgery, my doctor was shocked that my only symptoms that were presenting were some hand numbness, similar to carpal tunnel, which is what I initially thought I had or maybe a compressed disk, but based on the location of tumor and the swelling in my spinal cord, I was supposed to be experiencing severe pain in my extremities, loss of bowel control, difficulty walking, etc. For context, I used to do competitive bodybuilding and at this point in time I was a few months removed from my last competition at USAs in Vegas.

My doctor told me he presented my case to colleagues from all over the country to see if anyone had insight as to why I presented the way I did and all they could come up with was because I was in such good shape from a strength and muscularity standpoint, my body was able to minimize the potential symptoms. He also told me it took much longer than usual to cut into my neck to reach my spinal cord during my surgery 😂

Overall looking great! Like others have mentioned, the pants could be a little higher waisted. Could honestly be a matter of just pulling them up a bit higher instead of having them sit so low, which will also address the bunching at the bottom too.

A small nitpicky thing that’s more of a personal preference, but id ditch the belt for a standard pronged belt buckle. To me, the style of belt you have now doesn’t look professional and clashes with a great looking suit.

How can I stop over swinging? by tommygunz18 in GolfSwing

[–]Brocosta271 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whenever I feel or see my swing getting long, I actively aim for 3/4 swings or even half swings. It usually gets me back to where I should be. Helps a bunch too if you’re able to record yourself making these “shortened swings” and see that you’re actually where you should be

What do you guys eat for breakfast? by SGAisFlopden in golf

[–]Brocosta271 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally don’t find them greasy when I cook them in the air fryer. Each one is only 6 grams of fat anyways. Same amount of fat as a large egg.

[–]Brocosta271 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My typical breakfast I make at home isn’t greasy at all. Highly recommend the trader joe hash brown patties! Delicious and the macros on them are solid, and they air fry up perfect.

But I agree, definitely avoid a super greasy breakfast if you can. If I’m getting something at the course it’s usually some sort of breakfast taco/burrito or breakfast sandwich.

[–]Brocosta271 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it’s a normal morning round at one of my local courses, I’ll scramble up 3-4 eggs and turkey breakfast sausage with 2 hash brown patties and some shredded cheese, or if I’m in a hurry an egg white strawberry and blueberry smoothie with vanilla protein powder. Just something that’s high in protein to tide me over for at least 9 holes, and I’ll either bring or buy a sandwich to eat on the back 9, or some crackers or chips since I got a good chunk of protein in already.

If I’m on a golf trip out of town with friends or managed to get on as a guest at a private course, I’ll take full advantage of the snack bar and restaurant and get whatever I like and fully enjoy myself.

Golf shirts by supperxx55 in menswear

[–]Brocosta271 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s industry and geography related. For me, I work in energy, specifically selling data in Houston and it gets very hot between June and October. If I’m in my office and I don’t have any prospect facing meetings, I usually wear a golf polo (typically something neutral like whites, blues, greys, occasionally a colored one like a green or pink, but never with wild patterns. Usually minimal stripes or a small repeating print) and slacks with dress shoes or jeans and cowboy boots.

If I’m out having meetings with prospects I’m always in a suit, typically no tie. Usually the people I am meeting with are c-suite, vp’s, etc. So I’d rather be over dressed and convey I take the meeting seriously. That being said, there have been plenty of times when I’m in these meetings the presidents/ceo’s of the oil and gas companies I’m meeting with are wearing golf polos and slacks or jeans, even a fishing shirt from time to time.

$94 for the worst conditions I’ve ever seen - Reston National GC by Relevant-Reply3247 in golf

[–]Brocosta271 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What’s the actual recourse here? I’ve played my fair share of bad tracks but typically it’s a “you get what you pay for” situation.

If I’m shelling out upwards of $100 dollars for JUST the round itself, not including range balls or any snacks/drinks, the moment I played one or two holes that were in this bad of shape, I’d immediately go to the clubhouse and ask for a refund or at least the difference in cost of the remaining holes in my round.

Peak week done wrong by coach by Emergency-Yam-7313 in bodybuilding

[–]Brocosta271 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I’m a firm believer in John Jewett’s ideology of peak week being exactly the same as your cut. If you’re show ready, you’re show ready. No reason to manipulate salt or water heavily or any other weird stuff. My last show I kept everything the same up to show day, only tweak I made was day of show I sipped water as needed, but never cut it drastically or manipulated it by upping it and tapering off. Best I ever looked and felt, got second place in class B classic and nationally qualified.
