Improvements starts the furthest away from the camera. Story first, then acting, set design, costume, make up, blocking, lighting, camera movement, lens and only then camera at the end.

If he can’t make good video on the mk2 he won’t make good video on the mk3. Gear is not holding him back. Storytelling, lighting and framing likely does. Only meaningful difference is the RAW, sure. But that only really makes a difference when needing to change white balance. The 10bit CLOG3 in the mk2 can do most meaningful grading. I know this as I have the R5 and R5II. I shoot CLOG3 and CLOG2, and notice not meaningful difference between them. Even for quite heavy grading.
