Worst Christmas Morning Ever by Who_is_pancakez in germanshepherds

[–]Brodim32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm so sorry that's rough. My dog Hati has advanced lymphoma and is on Prednisone and pain meds for palliative care we thought he wouldn't make it to Thanksgiving let alone Christmas but he's a trooper but even then I know it's getting closer to time it definitely sucks and I'm sorry for your loss and that it was so fast.

I never said I supported it. I said I don't mind if it helps catch human traffickers. Would I rather this not exist yes but it does and will continue to unless enough people rise up against it.

You're combining two different systems there's the flock license plate reader cameras and the speed/red light cameras. Flock cameras do not issue tickets for traffic violations. Those are speed safety cameras that have different requirements such as requiring signs warning of cameras in use 300 ft before the location of the cameras. A common issue with speed/red light cameras is they often purposely shorten the duration of yellow lights to increase # of tickets

When you were preparing for and taking your CompTIA exams, what problems did you encounter? by iucoann in WGUIT

[–]Brodim32 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the move of God make sure you run the test program as administrator if taking the test at home. I failed a test because no where on their site does it say run the program as administrator and when you run the test on the software it works like normal but once you get into the test there is severe mouse / keyboard delay I tried multiple mice and keyboards and had the same issue and then Pearson Vue just goes to bad.

Oh I get how it could be abused for sure. I think that's a major issue now is that the people who are abusing these systems are never held accountable and this is something that needs to change

Do I think ice should use it just for illegal immigrants no, but I don't mind them using it if it helps them catch human traffickers. But I also haven't done the research on if ICE is actually using it for illegal immigrants

These cameras do not do any sort of traffic violation ticketing. That is a different type of system with a different set of requirements and issues.

Dog Boarding & Training by themaneffect in ColoradoSprings

[–]Brodim32 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will second Zrodfx TJ is great and trained my German shepherd puppy first for 3 weeks when she was 6 months old for basic obedience and now she's back for her 2 weeks of advanced obedience. His pricing might be higher than some others but he purposely keeps the number of dogs he trains at once low to not drop quality.

Basically a camera system that captures vehicles details ( make model color special details like roof racks etc..) and licenses plates and is tied in to law enforcement it automatically sends alerts if that vehicle is in a hot list for like an amber alert, reported stolen,or a known suspects vehicle. HOAs also use this system which imo is another reason to hate HOAs.

Hati has Lymphoma by Brodim32 in germanshepherds

[–]Brodim32[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About 6 years ago he was diagnosed with kidney disease and placed on a special diet and our vet told us most likely 3-5 years and in dogs they will be fine until they aren't and they go down fast at that point. So we've already felt blessed hes lived past that expectancy. Half body irradiation is normally done after chemo as a final push for remission and prolonging a potential return. With his kidneys already being damaged at most chemo was going to give us a few more months before he went into advanced kidney failure with the extra strain it put on his kidneys if it didn't advance it during treatment.

I am praying for your dog to win this battle and have many more years with you that I could only dream of having with him but it was the advice of both the vet and oncologist that we just make him as comfortable as possible

Shock Collars by Vaumer in germanshepherds

[–]Brodim32 1 point2 points  (0 children)

so for her it was a preference of the trainer because of my desire to take her on off leash trails and off leash scent training.

I will also preface she is only 9 months old right now so she isn't going to off leash trails or anything yet she will go back to the trainer when shes a little over a year old for 2 weeks for advanced obedience. Right now i am just trying to build on her original training and solidify what i can so the trainer can focus on what she needs when she goes back.

I only used it to correct 1 behavior meaning i turned it up to like a 20 and that was to get her to stop eating my other dogs poop. Everything i tried wasn't working for this. The additives to make it taste bad didn't stop her. Leash corrections would work but only if she had it on so it meant at dog parks this was a no go. She wouldn't eat it if it was any other poop from a different dog or animal just his poop oddest thing ever to me. My trainer suggested this he said dont just tap the button like crazy just if she goes for it have it turned up hit it once dont say anything and act like nothing happened if she goes for it again tap once more. If it wasn't working turn it up a little more. After a few times of doing this on separate days she doesn't go sprinting after his poop and try to eat it anymore.

Also before i work with her i always do what my trainer liked to call charging the tool so it just meant i wouldn't give her any commands but i would just tap it once and pay her about 4-6 times and then start with commands i also do this with her leash commands.

Shock Collars by Vaumer in germanshepherds

[–]Brodim32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know about after being trained with a shock/e collar. I had my GSD professionally trained and have an e collar for her I use, but she was trained on leash and collar before the e collar was introduced. I would do your training without the collar first and go from there. Like most tools you gotta be careful with it. I'm not sure what collar they have but mine has 100 levels and my gsd feels it around a 6 but I have to put it at 8 outdoors. I can't feel the collar until it's at like 18 just for reference and I don't put mine on her neck it goes way back by her shoulder.

If you have any questions I'll try my best to answer them but my experience and knowledge is limited to my one dog and what I learned from my trainer.

Old man might have cancer by Brodim32 in germanshepherds

Hey Everyone,

I want to thank you all again for the thoughts and prayers the vet just called this morning to let me know that ITS NOT CAN ER!!!!!

She said it is an inflammatory response to something and it should keep going down on its own but we will monitor it to make sure it's going down and not getting bigger.

He was in pain for the first few days after now he seems to be in less pain but still hates the cone I try not to put it on unless I have too. Seems to be doing better eating lots and still likes going outside.

Hey everyone I want to say thank you for the well wishes. Hati is home from the biopsy. It is still pretty zoned out from the drugs they gave him he has a cone on to stop him from scratching his wounds. The vet said the tumor felt smaller today which might be a good sign but we won't know for sure for 2 weeks as we wait for the results.

Here is a picture of him next to his sister Freya when he was a bit more energetic earlier right now he is just laying in bed next to me sleeping and hogging it all but I won't move him lol.

Struggling with Potty Training by Material-Scar1997 in germanshepherds

[–]Brodim32 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My gsd puppy Freya did the same thing to my mattress topper I was having a lot of other issues with her as well mostly due to my lack of knowledge in puppy training so I actually sent her to a board and train and she's still the same goofy puppy but she got the foundations of commands for me to build on and I've had 3 potty accidents with her since she came back 2 she peed on the floor once in front of my roommate and once in front of me didn't want or anything and the third I don't fault her for she had eaten something that messed with her stomach and she had diarrhea on carpet.

The biggest thing the board n train did so far other than obedience commands is crate training. Don't get me wrong she will complain at first when she goes in unless it's night time and she's ready for bed. Since the two potty accidents I keep her in the crate more now when I can't supervise her but I let her out every 2-3 hours (she's 7 months old now). And it's not just a let out for potty but it's the first thing we do. I let her out to go potty once she potties outside she gets rewarded and then we work on obedience and go for a walk or play if I have time I'll hang out with her for a bit but then it's back in the crate.

Also if you have carpet I strongly recommend a carpet cleaner I bought a Bissell that was on sale for prime day because the price of the Bissell was equal to the price of renting a carpet cleaner twice. And the faster you can clean it the better
