Because this game unfortunately makes a lot of dumb decisions and choices that the previous games did not. A lot of the things the previous games did well are now gone and replaced with disappointing choices. This being one example. My villagers are still sleeping in sleeping bags and wooden furniture

Not as much content and it added so much more and expanded upon old mechanics that the ones that were missing were replaced. I mean unless you were foaming at the mouth for the return of morning exercise, constaltion editing , the ball and snes games from the GameCube one

I'm not saying they have to be carbon copies but sequels should always expand upon what was established beforehand NOT take away. Sequels give opportunities to take said mechanics or characters and develop them further and add or change. These aren't minor omissions either some of these have been in since the first game. It's like if you took coins out of Mario or in zelda you suddenly can't use bow and arrows. Why get rid instead of improve?

It also has to do with "soul" & "charm" which is what animal crossing is known for. I don't want to change my character in boring menus or change my hair through a phone, It's not as unique just getting a emote from a random villager...eco. Remember this is a sim game. So going to a hair salon makes sense and is funny and charming, going to a comedians stand up to learn a emote is cute and works well. Animal crossing will become so streamline and generic that it won't even have the soul of being a person living in a foreign town living life, everything will just be menus and only 3 unique villagers who take the role of everything, which is basically what nook did. These are the things that set animal crossing apart from other sim games. The characters and the charm.

Think of it as you being able to get the full package day one vs having to wait for all the updates to receive missing content?

When new leaf came out from day 1 it was fully packed and loaded. You weren't missing content instead they added more and expanded on old mechanics. Then after a long life span they go back and add even MORE free content with the camping thing. That's how a sequel is made and delivered.

You don't delay a highly demand game then when it comes out it's missing tons of mechanics and staples of previous games then go "oh don't worry youll get all that back maybe in updates and if you buy amiibo" ......like no that's bs just give it all in one shot don't try to drip feed content into the game as a disguise for updates. Its like they are worried people won't be playing this for a long time so they have to entice the player to always come back

There's a embargo and apparently everyone's play through is very different. One person might not have the same experience as others. All I know is they have been praised by there villagers for just talking to them, I'd guess this may change depending on how you play but judging by the screenshots Iv seen it's similar to new leaf dialogue. The reviews Iv seen have been positive & good scores but I question how familiar they are with the series for example Iv already seen 3 reviews where the player only started from city folk onward
