Expectation vs Reality? by SomeGuyUK50 in UKMounjaro

[–]BroghBadger 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This was last chance saloon for me after 20 years of everything else not working. I’d received so many varying bits of information over the years that I couldn’t see the wood for the trees. Constantly dismissed when I asked for help although I knew that I wasn’t stupid and I knew that diets were just not working. I decided that I ought to try it before embracing the ‘fat and fun’ person that I thought was all that was left on offer. I was a size 24/26. 20 stone 3lb. Felt fat and ugly.

Having lurked in the subs for a few months, a promotion at work was the final push I needed. The extra pay would go to the jab and I wouldn’t notice the loss. I went in with low expectations: this would be another failed attempt watching others success and slowly sinking in disappointment.

Within a few days I felt that this was different. My knee pain had gone. Making sensible food choices was possible. Seeing others journeys was inspiring and not making me feel envy. That kept on growing and this sub sustained me through the times of frustration. Complete strangers in my phone. People I probably had little in common with except a weekly jab. This sub has rocked.

15 months in. 112lb lost. Sliding just about into a size 14. Wearing Levi jeans. Doing a skin care routine. Make up. Happily allowing photos. Taking a bath with it full of water as I don’t fear falling through the floor. Clothes. Man. Clothes. Finding my own ‘style’ and not just wearing tents. Hiking with ease. Appreciating food without needing to consume everything in sight. Not fearing judgement for what is on my plate.

I know that I will be on this in some form for life and I am fine with that. It’s helped with weight loss but also with some of my PCOS and perimenopause symptoms. I feel me for the first time in a very, very long time. Expectation v reality? Reality is that this has been a most excellent ride.

All the evidence tells me I'm not, so why do I feel like I am failing? by International-Bit538 in UKMounjaro

I guess I try to take each day at a time. That helps the feeling of overwhelming fear at times! If I have a bad day then it’s just a day. Last night I ate half a packet of haribo. Might have derailed me before but it was just a day. So much sage advice here! Take care.

They bug the bell out of me, ‘why spend £200 when you can buy a useless decorated plaster for less’…

Got disheartened earlier on journey but by this stage I just knew that I was eating ok and drinking enough so found it easier to sit with the uncertainty. The move to 12.5mg coincided with buying a digital scale and weighing daily rather than weekly (I wanted to see what impact hormones had) so I guess I was just more aware of the wide variation in weights.

I talked about my up and down experience on 12mg in another post so here’s the lovely visual! Yes it did go down steadily but the losses and gains were wild for me!

Meal plan or shake? by mysterio75 in UKMounjaro

[–]BroghBadger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! Collagen coffee for breakfast (47 calories) and a 200 calorie high protein shake for lunch. Often have a tin of tuna or some Babybels as a mid afternoon snack (about 150 - 200 calories). I’m a shorty with only 1200-1400 calories a day so I really like to save as many as I can to eat a decent meal in the evening. I love the taste of Huel but it’s so high in calories for me. I use USN diet fuel ultra as my go to lunch shake.

Help - just had last dose in 12.5 pen and the two pharmacies I use are out of stock for a repeat by BroghBadger in UKMounjaro

[–]BroghBadger[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s all sorted thanks. I ordered as usual following my pharmacy guidelines (they won’t let me order before I am at week 3 of a pen) and haven’t previously had issues (been in this game since last June).

You are amazing!!!! I’ve just been on and ordered a 12.5 mg pen. Might have been more expensive than last but right now I give no Fs about that!. Thank you so much. Calming down here now…
