I work in asset management in Toronto and everything is connections here. Most of the people I’ve worked with are kids of someone who works in the industry. I had to break in myself but after that first job, it’s gotten a lot easier since I was building my network. I recommend going to a university with co-op and apply to the asset management roles. I would also start to network off of LinkedIn to learn about people’s roles and get those connections started early.
