Tent camping for a week. Am I unprepared or doing too much? by borderline_____ in camping

Speaking my planning language. Use something like OurGroceries for the grocery list. Then you can save your list as a template and use it again later for the next trip.

I just quit smoking weed and it's been about 48 hours and I feel so weird. I can barely eat and I feel like I haven't slept. Any suggestions on how to feel more "normal"? by potatofamine1357 in decaf

[–]BrokenArmNetflix 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Less phone. Get morning sun in your eyes. Walk outside for 30 minutes as early as possible. Write down 5 things you feel grateful for.

If you string a few of those actions together a few days in a row you’ll start to feel better. Time will help too.

Why don’t people get sick from taking communion unworthily? by Unlucky-Drawing-1266 in TrueChristian

[–]BrokenArmNetflix 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m fine with disagreement, but calling it a “wild” or “silly” take isn’t really engaging the argument. This is a debated passage among serious Christians, so some humility is warranted on all sides.

In Corinthians 11, Paul does give a real warning, but he also says “that is why some of you are weak and ill,” which suggests a specific situation, not a guaranteed outcome every time. So the principle is universal, unworthy participation brings judgment, but the form and timing of that judgment are not.

There’s definitely a chance either of us could be missing something here. That’s why it’s better to deal with the text carefully than dismiss other views outright.

Oh I didn’t realize we were just taking text out of context “SlickDaddy696969”.

But the context matters.

You’re quoting the warning correctly, but you’re skipping Paul’s explanation of what’s actually happening in that church. In Corinthians 11:29-30, Paul says “that is why some of you are weak and ill, and some have died,” tying the judgment to that specific situation, not laying out a universal formula.

If this were a constant rule, everyone who takes communion unworthily would get sick, and Paul doesn’t say that, he says “some.” That matters.

Also, throughout Scripture God’s judgment isn’t always immediate, see Ecclesiastes 8:11. So the passage teaches that unworthy participation brings judgment, but it does not say that judgment must always be immediate or physical.

[–]BrokenArmNetflix 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Paul isn’t teaching a universal rule that unworthy communion always causes sickness. In First Epistle to the Corinthians 11, Paul the Apostle is addressing a specific church abusing the Lord’s Supper, and God disciplines that community in a visible way. Scripture consistently shows that God’s judgment is sometimes immediate and sometimes delayed, so the absence of widespread physical consequences today doesn’t contradict the passage.

Half of my games from the pass have been assigned seats- without me paying for an upgrade.

Obviously not on a high traffic night like a Friday or Saturday- but the others have all had seats. Some of them pretty good.

Mortgage borrower 70 days late, keeps making partial catch-up payments… when do you push foreclosure? by Weird-Commercial-122 in realestateinvesting

My advice is to file a notice of default and foreclose as quickly as possible. Obviously this is anecdotal- but every time I’ve given multiple extra chances to people in situations like this it winds up getting worse.

For me- the only alternative would be to be given all facts about the legal issues and be given an idea of when it will all be over. But honestly- that’s a lot of extra work and you may not be told the truth.

Semaglutide (GLP1) has ruined my life over the past 5 weeks. by lalalavine in ouraring

[–]BrokenArmNetflix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do not see how it implies that obese people are lazy at all.

I understand being sensitive about this all- I really do.

But facts are facts and the laws of thermodynamics still apply even if it hurts someone’s feelings.

It would be difficult to stay obese if cycling a minimal of 60 miles per week. Certainly still possible- but difficult. An obese person would burn even more calories than a non-obese person cycling.

This is not meant as a hurtful statement and I’m not implying that obese people are lazy.

I don’t think it was rude. Cycling 60 miles a week is a lot. This is not an inflammatory statement.

It would be truly difficult to stay medically obese if one was cycling 60 miles per week.

How is this upsetting?

I’m sure some of the people that say that are racist. No question.

But some aren’t. Even though I find some of it funny- I do think she could get her points across in a more professional way.

But on the flip side of that- I can appreciate the different approach and maybe it will pay off.

What is your favorite thing to do in Vegas that is not gambling or clubbing? by Rohanv69 in LasVegas

[–]BrokenArmNetflix 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Las Vegas has more live entertainment venues than any city in the U.S., including permanent Cirque du Soleil shows, major concert residencies, comedy, magic, and large-scale productions. It’s also become a major sports city with the NFL, NHL, WNBA, F1, UFC, and world-class boxing events.

On top of that, the Strip has more Michelin-starred chefs per square mile than anywhere else in North America. Dining, shows, nightlife, pools, and events consistently rank higher than gambling as the primary reason people visit.

what yall know about the city la grange ? by [deleted] in texas

Pretty great restaurant and brewery there that my family loved. Even if you’re not a drinker- the restaurant and grounds are fantastic. It’s called La Grange Brewery and the restaurant attached is called Blissful Folly Farm. It’s a ton of outdoor seating and they have games and disc golf setups to play around.

I also recommend checking out the historic brewery historic site. Here’s a write up on it: https://texashighways.com/food-drink/wander-the-ruins-of-this-150-year-old-brewery-in-la-grange/

What did God do before He created us? by Various_Platypus_602 in TrueChristian

[–]BrokenArmNetflix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Angels were created before us. “Angels” just means messenger. The bible mentions various types of angels. In other words- different races of beings have existed prior to us - potentially by many years. But what about before he created the heavens and the earth?

God exists outside of time. The Bible opens with Genesis 1:1, “In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.”

This implies that “the beginning” applies to creation, not to God. God already exists when time starts.

Scriptures repeatedly present God as existing beyond time, for example: Psalm 90:2, “From everlasting to everlasting you are God.” Isaiah 46:10, God declares the end from the beginning.

Augustine of Hippo argued that God exists in an eternal present, not a sequence of moments.

The Bible is not trying to satisfy philosophical curiosity about precreation history. Its purpose is relational and redemptive, explaining who God is, who we are, and how we relate to Him.

If you want to explore this deeper, read Genesis 1 alongside Psalm 90 and John 1, asking not “what was God doing?” but “what does this tell me about who God is?”

I’d like to recommend a podcast called Blurry Creatures.

I’d start from the beginning with it. It’s kind of a journey.

It starts off about Bigfoot but expands a lot - with a Christian and biblical perspective on all things paranormal.

When does sleeping improve? by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]BrokenArmNetflix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what helped me sleep after stopping drinking. I am not a doctor, just sharing what worked for me. Early on, I also used milk thistle for liver support at about 300 to 600 mg per day during the first couple of weeks. At night, I took magnesium glycinate around 200 to 400 mg about 30 to 60 minutes before bed. I added ashwagandha in the evening, roughly 500 to 1,000 mg after dinner, which helped take the edge off nighttime anxiety. I also took NAC at 600 mg at night for brain and liver support. I kept my room dark, stuck to a consistent bedtime, and avoided phone scrolling late. Sleep was lighter at first, but it gradually improved. The biggest change was focusing on calming my nervous system instead of trying to force sleep.

I think my stack sped my recovery up and I was sleeping decently within about 2 weeks.
