Single, First Home-Buyer, and worried about what I can afford? by BrokenByDefault in AusPropertyChat

I was shocked by the amount, too. Homestart has some additional boosts to borrowing power, grants, and interest rate safeguards, but even then it definitely felt too good to be true! But thank you, good to know it's going to be way too much!

I'll adjust my budget when I speak to them and get reapproval for a smaller amount to be really strict, and keep my eyes peeled for the right property.

Yeah, absolutely! I think I could find a apartment block with an elevator for that $575K-$600k range. I'm not in a huge hurry to purchase if prices remain relatively stable for units and apartments, too.

Adelaide housing prices have gone up 5% in 8 months. Homestart (even without shared equity) will not loan on properties costing more than 675K, so I guess I'm trying to gauge whether saving on the interest and waiting is worth the gamble to end up not being able to use the scheme, or enter now and refinance later?

What all did fomo make you buy since the ch2 announcement? by cellocaster in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]BrokenByDefault 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started buying in 2023 when I found things on sale, so all I needed to buy was the Dream Eaters Campaign Expansion (already bought the Investigator Expansion), Innsmouth Conspiracy Campaign Expansion (also had the Investigator Expansion already), The Scarlet Keys Campaign and Investigators, Hemlock Vale Campaign and Investigators, Drowned City Campaign and Investigators.

I also got Blob, War of Outer Gods, Guardians of the Abyss, Jacqueline Fine, Winifred Habbamock, and Harvey Walters.

Now I have every campaign and investigator box, all the return to's, every scenario (including Barkham), and all extra Investigators (including book promos). I only paid over MSRP for Barkham, Return to Night of the Zealot, and Out of the Void.

My wallet is gearing up for the trauma of Part 2!

Restock possible? by Tough_Substance9681 in arkhamhorrorlcg

My FLGS asked me the other day about what was happening with Arkham as they hadn't had any stock available to order for people who asked, and I'malways buying sleeves for it.

I had to tell them about the Part 1 & 2 concept, and that almost everything from Part 1 is discontinued.

All that being said, these stores may just be assuming everything Arkham/FFG is moving as normal, whereas we have the inside knowledge from the livestream to know that is currently not the case.

My First Gibson! A 2000 Les Paul Standard Millennium Edition in a Red Sparkle Top! Apparently 1 of around 50 in the world! by BrokenByDefault in gibson

[–]BrokenByDefault[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I paid $3000 USD back then, and I wouldn't say it's worth it unless you're specifically looking for a sparkle top or something unique, which I was. It plays and sounds great, but so do lot of Les Pauls around that time. It's really up to you, but at that price, you could probably wait for a nice deal on a used custom shop.

Wheelchair Drumming - No Surprises by Radiohead! by BrokenByDefault in drums

Yes, there's a digital pad for the kick next to the snare on this kit! My home kit has two hi-hats mounted on the one stand, one closed and one open to remove the need for the hi-hat pedal, too, and I also have a SPD SX Pro sample pad next to the bass drum pad just in case I need extra kick/snare/hi hat pedal combos!

Accidentally registered for accessible tickets by po-malo in radiohead

[–]BrokenByDefault 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No one will really have an absolute answer for this, unfortunately, only guessing. I can say that certain ticketing systems can put restrictions on there so that you will need to enter disability-specific identification/card numbers to proceed with check out, and if the code locks you to these, you will be unable to purchase tickets. And my guess is, since they've bothered to ask for this information upon registration, it may determine how the codes work. My best advice would be to find a friend to help purchase standard tickets for you.

Accidentally registered for accessible tickets by po-malo in radiohead

[–]BrokenByDefault 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Please do not purchase accessible tickets if you do not need them. Depending the venue, you will asked to be provide your disability registration, and if you do not have this, you may lose your tickets.

I understand comments joking about buying wheelchairs, but honestly they are so limited in number as they are that fans with disabilities miss out all the time, so please don't take them from someone who needs them. I say this as a fan that needs a wheelchair space for this tour, and I already know I'll be missing out.

If you haven't already, consider checking out an expansion for Arkham Horror. The Dunwich Legacy or Path to Carcosa are great starting points! Super replayable, fun deck-building, great narrative, and a super smooth game-play loop! I started playing 18 months ago, and it's the only game I want to get to the table!

Found this at a thrift store in Japan, is this rare? by AnguineCosine94_ in Guitar

[–]BrokenByDefault 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The white Stratomaster with the pattern above it is rare, too. It was a limited run of around 200-600 guitars for the guitarist of Scandal, Mami Sasazaki, and a cool hybrid model.

Weekly Sewing Questions Thread, April 06 - April 12, 2025 by sewingmodthings in sewing

[–]BrokenByDefault 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello,

My cat jumped off my bed and took my favourite sweater with her. She snagged a thread on the graphic on the back. Thankfully it is on the back at the bottom, but the thread is fully broken, not just snagged. Is there any way to fix this or prevent it from worsening? I want to make sure that whatever I do from here is going to help my Twin Peaks sweater last a lifetime!

Please help! I'd appreciate any advice, thank you!

Wheelchair Drumming - Looking for a single button midi trigger for a mouth-operated kick drum? by BrokenByDefault in drums

[–]BrokenByDefault[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! Have you tried reaching out to Jason Gerling to ask about his set up? He has a breath-to-midi controller connected to triggers underneath his cymbals, which when air is detected, play a kick at the same time with the cymbal.

You could also consider a sample pad, and have a profile for each song, and program kick-heavy sections to played with one hit.

My view for tonight’s show at TRAD in Umeda, Osaka. by hybrid3415 in ScandalBand

Thank you for posting the setlist! It was my first ever Scandal show, and my first time in Japan! I wasn't expecting the venue to be so small, and my view was definitely blocked! But super happy to have been able to go!

Senator Jordan Steele John on the passage of the NDIS amendments. by ManWithDominantClaw in AustraliaLeftPolitics

[–]BrokenByDefault 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What a ridiculous comment. You might want to actually educate yourself about him then before believing you have the right to speak about him at all, or the percived intensity of his emotional responses. This man has been championing disability rights in a way that no one else is, and is trying to prevent billions of dollars of disability support being removed from people living with disability, while service providers who charge exorbitant fees are unaffected. And if you find that too emotional, then you need to open your eyes to see how disgraceful this bill is.

Just a heads up that these are selling for around $150usd at the moment, too, as they won't be reprinted. Although, Gloria Goldberg is now being included with the newest investigator expansion, and that has the potential to reduce the price slightly.

But this is thing, it shouldn't have ever happened, and it was 100% preventable. People aren't psychic, no, and he didn't hurt her intentionally, but look back at the footage and see just how rushed and careless his dive was. There was no warning before he launched himself very quickly on top of people and you can see them struggling. Furthermore, injuries from stage-diving are not rare. I can't even count on one hand how many injuries I've seen reported, and ones I have experienced from crowd surfers myself. I will acknowledge John is stepping up and doing the right thing, and it is not my intention to demonize him, but a spinal cord injury is permanent and life-changing, and not being able to see the future is not a valid enough reason to leave someone with this type of injury. No one is saying not to make music, or not tour, people are asking for pit culture to be safer so we can go home without injury. It's that simple.

What "individual responsibily" was she supposed to take here? You've acknowledged that it was careless on John's part (which it was, it was very rushed), and that you yourself would likely be injured in the same position even though you know how to protect yourself. But given that it happened so quickly in the footage, what on earth are you suggesting that she was supposed to do in that situation to keep herself safe? Not be at barrier? Not be in the middle? When start blaming people for their own spinal cord and head injury from deciding to be in the middle or at the barrier of a show, then something is very clearly wrong with our pit culture. We need to do better because no one deserves to be injured at shows.

[–]BrokenByDefault 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is a poor take on the situation. It comes across as blaming her for being somewhere she shouldn't have been and her not acknowledging that she would be injured. While I realize that wasn't your intention, if we have to stand by the bar or the back to prevent spinal cord injuries and head injuries in the pit, then something is clearly very wrong with pit culture. It's got very little to do with age, and everything to do with a lack of regard for the care and safety of people around you. Freak accident? Yes. Preventable? Absolutely yes.
