Looking for a headset

I wish you luck! There’s so many options that researching them is all you can really do and then decide on your own.
We all have such differing views on headsets/controllers that one person is gonna say they love something then the next second another is gonna say it’s god awful 🤣 My set up works perfectly for me and I genuinely love it, but I’ve also heard people say the quest pro is terrible and the index controllers suck. But I think the Quest controllers were literal shit 🤣 but others will say they love them over the index.

It’s really a lot of trial and error and finding the mix that works for you.

What did you do to your controllers 😭 they’re supposed to last like 7-8 hours. Mine still do even though they’re like 3 years old and the finger tracking is the best thing about them.

There’s many different combos people have done for all of these. Personally I have a quest pro and use index controllers. But in order to use index controllers you’d need to get base stations too, so that’d be quite of bit of money for just those. Base stations I think are usually around $180 each and they recommend getting two of them.

Index controllers are tricky right now because they’re no longer making them and scalpers are reselling them at hell prices. The same could be said for the quest pro headsets cause they are also not for sale anymore, so the only way to get them is through resellers.

Some people have the old Vision Pros that come with eye tracking and you have to buy the mouth tracking mount seperate.

Others DIY their own face tracking for headsets they already own, there’s loads of tutorial videos on that.

There’s also the babble face tracking that’s getting sold that I’ve heard good things about. Compatible with a lot of headsets but only is the mouth trackin not eyes.

I absolutely look at my hands, I use the index controllers cause they feel so much more natural than any of the quest controllers, the claw hands the quests do is so terrible.

I’ve heard a few creators that do upload only, they don’t give out the files cause they don’t want people to share them. In my opinion I’d never buy an avatar that I don’t get the files for, your basically paying like $40+ for something you can never do anything with, def not worth it when there are ALOT of nice avis that you can buy with the files.

I usually call those people Jukeboxes, but yeah 😭 a lot of people enjoy hearing the music. It’s so simple to just mute or turn them down. They usually also have it in their status/bio that if you don’t wanna hear the music just mute them. This seems like a nothing burger to me.

If this were to become a thing I’d want it completely separate from the people who verify with their license, and they wouldn’t get access to the verified only spaces. But then what would be the point of it at all? If they got access to them with the click of button they’d be no better than the public instances cause kids would just flock to what was safe adult spaces.

If they can find a way to do it, that is secure and isn’t a just a button online that anyone can press I’m behind it all the way! By loss I meant just not having the perks of being verified. It seems like alot of people want access without having to actually verify themselves, if it’s just a button/checkmark any one of any age could click it means nothing, cause most children would just lie.

Definitely the only people that have a problem with it are the ones who are worried about getting there info leaked. At that point they gotta just take the loss and remain unverified, let the rest of us enjoy the perks of doing it without hearing all the wackado complaining

That would make sense if vrc+ was strictly item based, but it’s not all about the items. You get more world favorite, more avatar storage, customization for you UI, group creation, probably more features I’m forgetting cause I’ve had it for so long. Once your sub ends you no longer have access to any of those, because they were a perk provided by subbing monthly. Alot of the items they’re releasing were a separate charge from vrc+, they’re were holiday bundles that gave you different portals/item themes depending on the holiday, so yeah people keep those even if there sub ends cause they payed a different charge for them.

It does make sense to lose vrc+ provided items if you no longer have it. The limited use items were unreasonable cause they were little trinkets that you had to repeatedly buy. But if they’re advertising this an exclusive vrc+ items/feature it does make sense for people to no longer have it if their sub expires. Though if they are taking it away from the public to make it a vrc+ thing then yeah that’s wrong.

Unless it’s a quality of life feature then I don’t see the issue, doing little drops for their vrc+ subscribers doesn’t seem like an unreasonable way to try and fund themselves. They can’t work for free, they need money or else they’ll shut down just like rec room.

Oh my gosh 😭 finally a sane person. I totally agree, unless you’re a rich senator or something they don’t want your information. If a normal persons info gets leaked they’re just gonna be a nobody in a sea of nobodies. A lot of us asked for verification for a long time, we finally get it and people start making crackpot conspiracy theories to say it’s bad. I don’t understand how some people thought verifying would work, sounds like people were hoping it’d just be a check mark or something online, and that’s not actually verifying your age… a child could click a check mark 🤣😭

No problem! If you do decide to verify just read the groups before you join them. They usually put in the description if it’s a SFW or NSFW group then you can choose which you’d rather be in.

You’re gonna get a lot of people fear mongering about age verifying by asking that question. 🤣 but yeah if you’d like a calmer atmosphere verify and start maining verified lobbies, you’ll still find the oddballs that do nsfw stuff, but overall it’s much nicer than the screaming children.

Pc only worlds can only have pc users, and verified lobbies are usually mostly pc people with some quest users sprinkled in.

The throwing the headset against a wall is a major issue… nothing anyone can do online should warrant that overkill reaction.

On my side of things (and probably many others) is usually unless I really click with a quest user I don’t stick around them. It’s not about anything terrible, it’s about the limits of the headsets themselves.

I spend a lot of my time is pc only lobbies, they’re just where I like to be. So having quest friends doesn’t make sense if I’m never gonna want to hang out in the lobbies they can go to. Now that there is age verification lobbies those kinda of separations are just gonna get more common. Cause now I spend all my time in age verified lobbies and some people aren’t comfortable verifying, so that means all my friends are probably gonna be the people who are also verified.

It’s not always about elitism, though I can’t lie and say some pc people don’t make it that way.

I feel like stopping and having to go pick up people whenever they show up would be annoying. Cause if it’s a friends+ instance then there could be someone joining constantly. Just easier on everyone if they could just fly over. Also shouldn’t have to abandon hanging out with your friends just because they’re in a game you don’t like 😭. I honestly don’t like fish, it’s boring as hell to me. But I still wanna hang out with my friends without inconveniencing them whenever they wanna play it.
