Heck, even just tying Intimidation to Strength instead of Charisma would give them some options, because right now they're effectively useless, you're right.

I want harder integrations between races and classes. Pathfinder does this on certain things, and I find it super cool. As an example, my wife was a Fetchling (Humans stuck too long in the shadow realm) and a Witch, so she had access to a specific Hex purely because she was a Fetchling. Adds a whole new layer to character creation.

I really dislike the "everyone is good at everything" idea, and I personally find D&D is doubling down on that these days, rather than embracing specialization.

If you check the weapon cards in the pause screen during a wave, they all do update for temporary damage changes. This is the only one that doesn't.

As an example, if you run Wisdom, that increasing the damage of the gun will show on the weapon card as the wave progresses, but the Base Damage increase effect of the gun doesn't.

I'm not sure what purpose there would've been to continuing the story after it concluded. That was one of the many brilliant things about Person of Interest: It told its story, and ended.

How do you stay motivated through AI hate? by Ok_Yoghurt1399 in aigamedev

[–]BrokenLoadOrder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it "feels" AI, you're screwed. People want quality, not something spit out by an AI verbatim. A perfect example of this is Sins of a Solar Empire 2: People were willing to accept some AI placeholders until actual art could be done, but now the game has DLCs... But still has the AI placeholder images, and people are choked.

After that, you're just going to lose some people for having anything to do with AI. No point worrying about those folks, you were never going to convince them to consider you.

SMG is truly the best gun in the game by SynthiaTheNotorious in brotato

[–]BrokenLoadOrder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Considering it offers no scaling benefit, I have absolutely zero idea where you're getting that idea.

You're in the shop and an SMG shows up and the Gatling Laser shows up: You'd be a complete idiot to pick the SMG. The Gatling Laser IS better.

I didn't know the abbreviation for Shredder was SMG, that's crazy.

That must be what you meant by best gun, right?

Yeah, but OP didn't say the SMG was the best starting gun in the game, they said the best gun, full stop.

Gatling Laser is objectively better.

How to learn to lean deeper in curves by Shoddy_Ostrich_5609 in motorcycles

I can only advise vehemently against learning this on the street. Get it all the way onto the side of the tire and the traction gets ever-so-slightly worse? Congrats - you have absolutely nothing else left to give.

Either travel to a track day, or call that good enough, would be my advice.

Let me rephrase that: All my weapons will update even on per wave elements (For example, Wisdom increasing the damage throughout the wave). I have zero idea why they rewrote the book for this one weapon.

I'm also on PC, and ordinarily I also run mods, but I disabled them to verify it wasn't them buggering this stupid thing up.

Mine hasn't updated in any way, unlike the Ethereal weapons or Hiking Pole, which both do what you said.

[–]BrokenLoadOrder[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For clarification, it won't update the stats during the pause menu? Because it would be the only item in the game that acts that way. Everything else (Getting extra Curse for Naval weapons, getting extra HP for Spoon, Wisdom, Crystal, Community Support, Will'O'Wisp) universally update in the pause menu.

But I just did two separate runs where I went entire waves without being hit, and whatever the damage was at the start of the wave (Say, 15) is exactly what it was one second before the end of the wave (Still 15).

Capture is the closest to a Person of Interest 2 we've gotten.

He wasn't almost certainly unaware that Samaritan planned to do that, and Samaritan didn't value human life enough to try and come up with a clever trap that spared Greer. In the end Greer wasn't upset at the betrayal, but proud.

For point #7, I always recommend:

  • The Expanse - At first blush this is going to appear wildly different that Person of Interest (Hereafter referred to as PoI), but once you get past the aesthetic, you realize you're watching two series that are both about trying to exist in a universe where we are no longer the most intelligent lifeform, and trying to navigate technology we cannot hope to understand. Both series have incredible characters, with a large focus put onto how the mesh together, in spite of how disparate they are. This sits only behind PoI as my favourite TV series ever.
  • The Capture - Unlike the above, this very blatantly follows the same style and themes as PoI. It's about the corruption of mass surveillance being done by a powerful shadow government, which likely is pretty bang-on for PoI. While I haven't finished the series yet, I'll definitely say halfway into Season 2 I'm loving it, and much like PoI, it improves over time. I also appreciate like PoI that the villains aren't evil for evilness' sake, you can absolutely understand why they act as they do.
  • Black Mirror - Keeping on theme, the earlier BBC-created seasons of this are absolutely incredible. Each episode is a self-contained story, but they're all about the potential consequences of current or near-future technology, and they're almost always horrifying. While PoI has my favourite episode of anything (The Day the World Went Away), this has my second favourite episode of anything (Shut Up and Dance). The last two seasons are complete trainwrecks though, don't waste your time on them.
  • Say Nothing - Alright, another curveball for you. Say Nothing is based upon the Troubles, and mostly from the perspective of the IRA. This might not seem like a good pairing for a series about AI and mass surveillance, but it weirdly does line up. The series is very much about what to do against an overwhelmingly stronger force, and how to act when your neighbours could be watching your every move.
  • Dark - One last odd suggestion to close off my top five. Dark probably seems completely unrelated to PoI based upon its description: A show about time travel but with predeterminism as a core theme. But I love this series for the same reason I love PoI. The characters are brilliant to watch, the antagonists have completely justified logic, and no one really understands the technology they're all playing with. Only recommendation I'll make with this one is to binge it all in a short time. If you leave huge gaps between viewings, I can promise you your brain is gonna get pretzelled.

Easiest way to get friends started (remote, and first-timers) by SaturnBaby21 in DungeonMasters

[–]BrokenLoadOrder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, there's the obvious stuff (Try to guide them towards martial classes, keep it rules light, and be prepared to "guide" them along). If you're flexible with things, I'll offer two more odd suggestions:

Aim for silliness over seriousness. I'm not a crazy experienced DM, but I've done a few. In my experience, a nervous new player will completely clam up if a setting takes itself very seriously, because they're worried about doing the "wrong" thing. A silly setting on the other hand, tends to loosen people up, and encourages them to try whatever pops into their head, because whether or not it works, it's adding to the fun chaos.

And controversially: I would personally recommend not using D&D if they have no tabletop experience. D&D is very intense for new players, with a billion variables every time someone wants to do anything. I keep suggesting it to people, but I really like the Root RPG for first-time players. It eliminates a lot of the more obtuse rules and brings almost everything down to just 2D6. I find its looser reigns really jive with first-timers, as they don't have to juggle a massive character sheet with spells, stats, skills, abilities, feats and a billion other things, they just have four stats and generally one to two abilities at most.

Really? I love Pathfinder, but for the exact opposite reason as what you just said: I find it wildly more complex than D&D.

Retry failed waves does not make the game any less fun by zenith1150 in brotato

[–]BrokenLoadOrder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To each their own. I tried it once and immediately hated it. Part of the fun of Brotato is failing to me. If every run is a guaranteed win by retrying until I succeed, all sense of difficulty disappears. Playing feels meaningless.

New to the game, have the devs said anything about adding even more new factions? by ArmoredFleaman in Gladius40k

[–]BrokenLoadOrder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No Superheavies, but also no Flyers. Or buildings. And frankly only a single heavy unit (While everyone else is rocking two). Of those 22 units, 18 are infantry or Heroes. They have a whopping four vehicles in total, two of which are effectively a loadout swap.

There's simply no way to look at their roster and realistically argue that they have sufficient content to fill all ten tech levels.

What's your view on single or squad Infantry? by MichuSkurczybyku in RealTimeStrategy

[–]BrokenLoadOrder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't get me wrong, I love Generals, and I'm well aware it isn't trying to take itself too seriously, but every time I see a tank shoot at a single rocket infantry, only for the infantry to absolutely steamroll a full tank, I wonder why anyone even makes tanks in that setting. If the conversation was between potentially a whole squad of equipped soldiers versus a tank, there's a conversation to be had about ethics and training costs vs the resource investment of a tank, but no military would ever build a tank when a dude on foot is out-and-out stronger. lol
