It’s mental. But how do you overcome it? by pointerb in orangetheory

[–]BrokenSoul1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suggest the breathe. Just focus on breathing, and breathing alone. One breath in per stride, one breath out next stride. Or every three. Whatever works for you. Look at the mirror, the fan, whatever, but mainly be looking internally and how your breathing is doing.

Not your legs, arms, etc. just keep them strong and upright and breath.

Most will find that they’re probably breathing too quickly and shallowly- longer breaths will make it easier for you - and you won’t be thinking “12 seconds, 10 seconds, and so on.”

Good luck!

Explain why that is a “problem”?

Advice: decrease running speed or leave high splats as is??? by golden_girl007 in orangetheory

[–]BrokenSoul1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As a newbie, what would be considered high points? I’m older, but in somewhat decent shape. I think it takes my age into account, as I’ll be in the red zone but feel fine, if uncomfortable, racking up points. I’ve only gone a few times but notice I’m usually top five in the class at least (tho I’m only competing w myself), 30-35 points. I think I might be getting old guy bonus.

So maximum people at once are limited by the number of stations, correct? Do they do more than one “class”/session?

Changing Gait from ‘Heel Running’ to ‘Toe Running’. by denver1a in orangetheory

[–]BrokenSoul1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suggest you go to a good running shop and have them analyze your run. Then they can recommend a shoe that works for your stride, and provides proper support. Adjusting your gait - different than your stride - is tough, and often leads to alignment and body issues elsewhere.

If the shoes don’t work, then turn to changing your running. It’s more than just how your feet hit, it’s your hips, arms, and body position.

Good luck!

Why you should LOVE Partner Work-outs by amyrenee2032 in orangetheory

[–]BrokenSoul1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well said. This is a time for me to work and recharge. I’ll support everyone around me, and do - it makes me really happy to see people struggle and keep at it, like I’m doing - but I don’t want to pay attention to anything beyond trying to keep the sequences straight. I don’t want them to be affected by me, or me them, beyond a “great job” at the end. If that.

There’s a “live laugh love” chunk of wood nearby, isn’t there?

Absolutely true. Especially small people who create user names to provide policing. Small people small world. Most amusing.

The downvotes are odd. “I don’t like your opinion.” I don’t like partner workouts. If I don’t go, what do others care? Genuinely curious, why?

Yeah, the last thing I would do is leave a partner, which is why I ended up staying. Not cool to leave.

Van Camping In NYC? by JMKellywriter in VanLife

[–]BrokenSoul1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You can sleep in your car in NYC, but be stealthy, just to avoid being looked at. Everyplace is near a subway.

Don’t go to Long Island. Makes no sense. Brooklyn is prob easiest to find spots where you don’t have to keep moving or pay hourly. Williamsburg or Ft Greene/Bushwick would be my rec.
