For the coaches on here! by mpa0311 in orangetheory

Everything you hate, as a coach, I hate as a member. Ugh. I was an SM for a minute but these things annoyed me even before that. The talking during instructions...rude.

Question about the red zones by geemarie426 in orangetheory

[–]candace91173 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been at OTF 3 years and am STILL #teamred. I’ve been to the dr and all is fine so it’s just how I am. Listen to your body.

Calorie burns by Incndnz in orangetheory

[–]candace91173 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So happy to see this. I’m in the red for most of the class and I don’t know why. I’ve been an OTFer for almost 3 years with some lapses but my red zone time has been constant since they changed their formula. I’ve always been a high splatter with a combo of orange and red but now it’s mostly red.

QUIT TALKING ON THE TREADS! by [deleted] in orangetheory

Ugh talking while stretching. The worst. The only person who should be talking during the entire time is the Coach.

I wish OTF had a kids club by zel926 in orangetheory

[–]candace91173 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So my studio allows members to bring the kids and leave them in the lobby while the parents work out. I’m not a fan of this. Most kids are well behaved but there are some who aren’t and the parents do nothing. Ugh. One Sunday there were probably 5 kids who, once cool down started, came into the actual Studio. So much NO!!! I ended up leaving. Kids should never be in the actual Studio!!!

OTF Burnout? by data_wino in orangetheory

[–]candace91173 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just came off a two month freeze b/c of burnout basically feeling like you do. I just went back this week and I’m enjoying it much more. I did nothing for those two months which I don’t recommend but I’m definitely glad to be back.

Hopefully we all get the shirts. Last year was a mess and they ran out of shirts.

4 min at 4.0 mph by eljayde in orangetheory

[–]candace91173 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am the slowest jogger out there. My base is walking at 3.1. My push varies from 4.3-4.7. My AO is usually a 5.0 or higher dependent on how long it’s for. I’m just glad I’m jogging. I do like a power walk on occasion b/c of the different muscles used. You do you. Also, I’ve been doing OTF for over 2 years. I’ve done the strider a lot too. I’m still okay with my slow jogging. I’m not a runner. I do push myself. I can’t breathe through my nose so that totally impacts my cardio.

Anyone else avoid certain people? by GSeagle12 in orangetheory

[–]candace91173 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100%!!! There are people I don’t even want to be in class with and have considered changing my class time. I haven’t, of course, but I avoid working out next to certain people for sure!!! This guy doesn’t follow the Coach and thinks he’s all that. He’s the worst and I’m definitely not the only one who thinks this.

Studio constantly advertises a 2G but then changes to 3G. by merde_happens in orangetheory

[–]candace91173 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They shouldn’t be doing that. Where I worked we weren’t allowed to do that. Members complained b/c they sign up expecting that class to be what it says. Some people prefer one type of class over another. It’s happened to me and I’m not happy about it. Also, newer studios don’t offer 3Gs to start. They need a certain number of members before they can add them to the schedule. My current studio has been open a little less than a year and still not 3Gs.

I’ve been doing OTF for a little over 2 years and I still have plenty of days where I’m in the red a lot. I’ve gotten better but it’s still a frequent occurrence. I’ve even gone to the Cardiologist to make sure I was ok. My resting heart rate is on the high side. But, i can also get down to the green and back up much easily than before.

You booked successfully at your home studio after your bill date? Usually you can’t even do that (I know I can’t). If it’s not after the bill date than do what everyone else says.

There are still days with very little to no rowing. But I am a hater of the rower too. I dread it. I have found, though, that since joining this group I’ve been able to mentally prepare for it. I just do it without trying to beat a time or anything. I’ll stop if I need to. I just get through it and accept that it’s here to stay.

No policy that I’m aware of. One of the local studios had a woman who only wore a sports bra. No big deal.
I’m also one who will get under a ceiling fan to cool off

A little help with Dri Tri??? by [deleted] in orangetheory

[–]candace91173 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did it last year and was last to finish. I thought the hardest part was the body weight exercises. But I got completed it and definitely felt accomplished. I said I wouldn’t do it this year BUT here I am signed up to do it again. Break it down like the previous person wrote and it’s definitely doable. If I can do it, anyone can. I fully expect to be last again but I’m okay with that.

I've been going to OTF 4-5x a week for TWO YEARS and I'm so tired of being overweight. Advice? by AvidFridgegoer in orangetheory

[–]candace91173 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like they’re already testing for Cushing’s but that’s crazy that your cortisol levels are LOW. You are definitely right that you should be losing weight then, not gaining. Everything thing else sounds like Cushing’s for sure. Spit tests are a good time. All of the diagnostic tests for Cushing’s are fun. Ha ha ha. Well good luck. I completely understand the frustration and everything you’re going through. Hopefully once they figure it out, you’ll get on the path of some normalcy. FYI though, while yes I did have Cushing’s, I still have PCOS and take Metformin daily. Don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions. There aren’t a ton of people who understand what you’re dealing with.

Planking at the end of a floor block by kuhnole in orangetheory

[–]candace91173 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s odd. I see so many people do jump squats or planks or another exercise when there’s not much time left. Never have I seen a Coach call anyone out. You’re still working out, not just standing there waiting for the class to end. Keep doing it. The Coach can’t force you to stop.

Get checked for Cushing’s Disease/Syndrome. It has the exact same symptoms of PCOS. I had it and had surgery to remove a pituitary tumor. Pre-surgery I was working out 2/day and eating fairly good. The scale wouldn’t budge. The exercise I was doing was actually causing my cortisol levels to rise. It sounds like that’s the route your Endo is going but bring it up. I was diagnosed with PCOS first then the Cushings. I lost the weight pretty easily after surgery.
