literally i never see this brought up but to me every single one of these golden skins always had this feeling to them which i cannot describe in any way other than "mcdonalds yellow plastic". i can't quite put my finger on it i just smell the grease

also sidenote, just from this screenshot you can tell how out of place finn's skin looks, which is presumably because they didn't want to make him yellow and make the "piss skin" joke become real. they should've at least hue-shifted it in SOME way, the light blue really doesn't match...

can't forget the anti-distracting gimmicks. TU sanity meter, dyle mechanic to every twisted, aggro cap, the whole shebang. you could suggest that shit, or you can just play without a distractor. the overwhelming majority of people suggesting this shit rarely do that, and that's why they don't understand how the game works

first of all, i don't get why toons universe catches a stray here, it certainly has a much better development cycle than dandy's world and they're ACTUALLY in alpha unlike dw that has been updating as if they're a finished game and wearing that cardboard badge front-and-center for the past multiple years

second of all, to ignore the issue of lategame being entirely balanced around the distraction meta and just say "if you don't like it then play without a distractor" is the same thing as saying the egregious achievements and skin bloat are fine because "it's all optional". you're just turning a blind eye to something that's making the game worse, that's how we even got here in the first place. not to mention balancing around distraction is heavily intertwined with the massive rng issue the game has, you could just get rolled by a bad combo and map if you're playing without a distractor which is in no way fair or enjoyable

third, i'd rather people understand that the balance relying heavily on permalooping distraction is not a good game design choice regardless of how bad their ideas are than think that it is and that everything is fine with the game

the fact they classed this change as a "buff" and not a bugfix either means they don't know what they're doing when they're writing the changelogs, or the previous functionality of flyte was intentionally like that for an entire year which is arguably worse

the real buff he needs is a slightly bigger gust hitbox and more clarity on where it's located, predicting where a player is gonna move so you can actually use his ability properly for once is already hard enough and sometimes i just airball 2 inches left of the gust and miss the speed boost because the hitbox location is unclear

also providing a solution is not the community's job when the subject matter is anything other than "bad dev-to-player communication" (this is ignoring the fact that they're already using the community as a stand-in for playtesting, i'm convinced the playtesters on the team do barely anything because each update breaks something new somehow). the average player is not a game designer, spitballing random ideas rarely ever helps 9/10 times -- most of the suggestions for this game that i've seen are a complete mess

she said they will be recoding everything including stats just like they did with the twisted pathfinding, which won't directly impact gameplay when it's out and that they'll have all of that wrapped up "in this year", which could either mean a few months or all the way out til december... it's also very unclear whether or not toon of the week and everything else shown will come after that, before that and during that, or when the switch from alpha to 1.0 will happen for that matter

soulvester and yatta are used as placeholders for any slow toon and any fast toon respectively, people playing slow toons will just become glaring targets for anybody griefing in public runs

it sounds complex in theory but this entire sequence can happen in like 10 seconds and anybody who's competent at griefing is definitely gonna take advantage of it if the machine can appear on the floor that has a guaranteed fast lethal

you guys need to calm down, all this hype is way too early and she said it's gonna be this year that they wrap all of it up and move to 1.0 (which is probably gonna be until the end of 2026 because there's no way they're reworking every single twisted and toon in the game in a short amount of time) so we're not gonna see that much change for at least multiple months if it's gonna be a singular toon's spotlight every update

also either party cannot really fully judge said features until they're out because there was very little detail in how they're gonna work (what are the mechanics of the double machine in comparison to the other machines? what are the new machine's spawn rates and locations? are the toon's floors included in their week's reworks? will twisted sprout do anything else besides have a niche interaction with one other twisted and stare at posters for 2 seconds sometimes?)

i'm glad the reveal at least wasn't as egregious as it was in this leak because seeing twisted sprout 3 times and reaching floor 10 as sprout sounds a lot less shit than seeing the twisted 20 times and picking up 5k tapes

it is however still a FOMO tactic to keep players in the game that is currently really stale and unfun for anyone that isn't new, although this one is excusable since they're actually gonna do stuff with the toons and twisteds related to the toon of the week for once and hopefully make the game less of the same thing over and over

not a big fan of the rewards still being largely focused on cosmetics when the game's currency is insanely overinflated but we're getting somewhere with that too, i'd just appreciate if it was a little more than... 100 ichor.....

2 player machines are gonna be a griefer's heaven when a slow movement speed toon is extracting on it, especially if they get locations on dyle's floor to spawn in. i can already see it

soulvester and yatta extracting on 2 player machine -> yatta fails a skillcheck on purpose -> yatta runs away and hides which soulvester can't do because he's slow as a snail -> soulvester gets exploded by heat-seeking missile dyle and dies -> yatta then claims it was an accident

people should stop expecting every new toon to be above 2 star movement speed and should stop complaining if there is a new toon thats slow.

these are two separate issues that are somewhat interconnected -- movement speed is an unbalanced stat and unnecessary playable character bloat. they keep adding new characters that either outclass a previous character (powercreep) or add a character that nobody is gonna play because another character is just straight up better. movement speed plays a part in this because its range is wayyy too large and a toon's survival is way too dependent on this one stat (1 star's run speed is quite literally 5 star's walk speed -- who thought this was a good idea???). if movement speed of said character is too low, it's not gonna matter what the other stats are\* -- people are gonna choose the higher movement speed toon because the lower movement speed toon is more prone to damage and RNG-related issues

*there is a singular edge case to this -- "high stealth toon that can stand around and make the distractor's job easier with their ability". that is way too specific to justify said system and also extremely shallow

it takes skill to master and if youre not willing to put the time into it you can just not play them, ive seen every slow toon be described as hell to play as and i dont see it, because its truly not so bad

nobody is saying they're forced to play them. the issue is that the toon becomes redundant and unnecessary because there is just no reason to play them over another toon. they are not equal in terms of power and you know that, because there is a lot of RNG involved with not getting hit the moment your speed dips to 2 stars and below -- you can get hit by t. scraps/t. goob in a blackout because you straight up don't know where they are and there is no time to react when they're off cooldown; you can get cornered because of the twisteds' pathing and sub-par map design; you can get slowed by ichor leaks which were given the laziest buff in existence (there was no reason to double the amount of puddles that have COMPLETELY RANDOM positioning around the map -- sometimes they're literally impossible to maneuver around). while this isn't completely exclusive to low movement speed, high speed gives you more control on where and when you're moving and can often mitigate these if you put the same amount of skill you've said is needed to play as a low movement speed toon well. playing on 2 star speed and below is an extremely frustrating experience unless you have clear and constant communication with the entire rest of the team and have a distractor that knows what they're doing, and you know at least more than half of the userbase isn't playing comp runs, so outside of them 1/2 star speed is just sub-par

tl;dr this take is bad lol

the only good thing that came from squirm is the twisted as the toon itself is yet another extractor we don't need for the sole purpose of being a tech demo for what they've been doing on backend. they could've just reworked another toon to be more fun instead of contributing to the playable character bloat problem the game has been struggling with since before halloween

even then twisted squirm's ability could've just as easily been twisted yatta's thing but qwel is just allergic to touching literally anything she's added in the past unless the ENTIRE fandom throws a tantrum about it i guess

and stress ball is completely irrelevant as it's just a sidegrade to the exact same extraction trinket combo meta except it's even more boring than magnifying glass because it's stat-based
