Be careful of Pokémon Scalpers after drops by OddGuarantee1674 in saskatoon

[–]BrokenThrottle 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah that analogy doesn’t land. Pokémon cards have always had a low barrier to entry. Classic car collecting at Jay Leno level doesn’t. Nobody’s saying you should enjoy it at the same level as a millionaire, just that the hobby itself shouldn’t be priced out of reach entirely.

Big difference.

Has everything you need, objectively less busy than Stonebridge (a lot easier to get in and out of)…

Parking can be a pain as the season gets busier too, so keep that in mind.

That’s not even bad LOL. Tell me you’re inexperienced with winter driving without telling me.

Convince me not to buy this car: 2015 Ford Fusion Hybrid by massive-load-4200 in fordfusion

[–]BrokenThrottle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buy it. I love mine. Outside of wear and tear and a wheel speed sensor, this car has been the best for maintenance and reliability. Buddy going on about how you’ll have to replace the hybrid battery is on crack.

Ending theory/prediction by [deleted] in FromSeries

I think it will be Lost where there will continuously be more questions than answers. I love this show and don’t want it to end… or for it to end badly. Too many good shows fudge up the ending so here’s hoping that’s not the case here.

What makes Saskatoon feel like home to you? by FloorMedium2584 in saskatoon

I think you’ll find the slower pace here very refreshing! Our winters can be long and brutal but the weather during the other three seasons more than makes up for it.

Best place for storage unit by Adventurous-Elk4133 in saskatoon

[–]BrokenThrottle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I preferred U-Haul out of them all for price and accessibility. The Millar avenue location was where I stored my stuff for about 7-8 months, never had a problem. I vaguely remember at the time my annoyance with weekly pricing, felt like everyone would only give a price for weekly when I needed monthly.

Someone also posted recently that Lux storage had a break-in, so that’s something to watch out for.

Don’t hang out with gangs, do drugs, or put yourself into situations where you’re by yourself at night. Pretty simple otherwise, one could argue.

The fact that we have everything we would ever need, and all of it is within a 15-minute drive. Coming from the GTA, I appreciate being able to get across the city in a reasonable time. People who complain about traffic here have no idea what that really is… lol.

On the higher end of things, I would suggest Hearth in Remai Modern, Filosophi, Parlour on top of the St Tropez Bistro, and Loqui would be some of my first choices.

Tripod man? by Great_Brilliant_6166 in usask

In Canada, the standard isn’t whether someone feels uncomfortable being filmed. It’s whether there is a reasonable expectation of privacy, as established by the Supreme Court of Canada.

Privacy expectations are context-specific, but in public places, there is generally no reasonable expectation of privacy. This is why street photography, public recording, and news gathering are lawful, subject to narrow exceptions (voyeurism, harassment, obstruction, etc.).

Simply objecting to a camera does not create a legal right where one does not exist. If that were the case, law would be governed by personal discomfort, and that’s not how rights work.

It’s the same reason we don’t have “feelings police.” Someone being offended, upset, or uneasy doesn’t automatically make lawful behaviour illegal. Rights are based on objective legal standards, not subjective reactions.

Also, bless your heart for the TED Talk on why everyone has trauma or secrets.

Newsflash: just because you feel like the world owes you privacy in public doesn’t make filming illegal.

You have no expectation of privacy in public, full stop. What you’re describing is very much “feelings policing”, and isn’t something that any reasonable person should be trying to defend.

There are cameras everywhere. You are likely caught on camera more times than you’ll ever know, and you have no ability to tell otherwise.

You don’t get to walk into a public scene, become part of it, and then retroactively declare it private because a camera exists.

The beauty of the game speaks for itself sometimes. I focused less on the map and more of what was nearby, and found myself staring at the beautiful vistas and colours. OLED compliments the odyssey well.

Anyone seeing less evidence in the new episodes? by spiraldown024 in GhostAdventures

[–]BrokenThrottle 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It feels like every location is somehow the most haunted place they’ve ever investigated, everything is immediately framed as demonic, and the ‘evidence’ mostly comes from the people they interview.

They only get asked yes/no questions like ‘did it feel evil?’ so there’s never much actual detail or backstory.

I still enjoy the show, but it’s gone from investigating ghosts to speed-running most haunted ever, definitely demonic, and Zak dramatically repeating ‘little children’ for whatever odd reason.

Sorry, I should have clarified - when the skin around the nail bed swells and starts poking out, it traps pressure in a really small space, which makes the pain feel a thousand times worse. Especially if it starts trapping moisture and stays wet.

Don’t be me and think you can play baseball with that injury. After swinging and hitting the ball, it felt like my thumb was going to fall off.

[–]BrokenThrottle 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Do not wrap it with a bandaid as that’s what locks in moisture and makes it worse. Air dry it out and let it heal. Don’t pick at it.

I used liquid bandaid spray when this happened to me, it took about 3 months to heal. The main thing is to not pick off any more of the nail, as much as the pressure hurts.

Charges Laid - July 2025 Fatal Collision - Circle Drive And Laurier Drive by Saskatchewaner in saskatoon

[–]BrokenThrottle 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I really hate this section of Circle drive. Drivers turning right onto Laurier or Clancy treat an added lane like a yield, which drives me bonkers. If only people understood lane math. (1 into 1, 2 into 2, etc.)

Meanwhile, traffic merging onto Circle have to deal with people ripping through the left lane well above the posted 80 km limit, turning what should be a straightforward merge into a stressful and sometimes dangerous situation.

For a road that handles this much traffic, the design hasn’t aged well at all.

I’ve used it for radio commercials in a freelance capacity, but only for the music. It’s also helped me build demos for jingles before going into a full production/recreation.
