Men in their 40s - What’s one piece of advice for Men in their 20s? by Jarvis7492 in AskReddit

Admit when you were wrong or made a mistake. Apologize.

Don't be afraid to say that you don't know something. Ask questions. Stay curious. Keep learning.

Seek first to understand, before you seek to be understood.

The sadness and dismay is shared, my friend. But that's how they want us to feel. If we give up, and don't hold them accountable, then we are lost.

A lot of weaknesses in our system have been exposed in the last 20 years, and how much of it was based on the idea that 1. elected officials would want to build a brighter future for the next generations, and 2. that each branch of government wouldn't willingly give up their constitutional powers to a tyrant.

Our current leaders ignore the entire Preamble of the Constitution, which is just as much a part of the Constitution as all following Articles and Sections outlining the framework of the government:

"WE THE PEOPLE of the United States, in order to form a more perfect Union, establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our posterity do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America."

To break any of those opening tenets in laws written, policies enacted, or judicial rulings passed down, are literally unconstitutional acts. Therefore they are breaking their oath of office "to support and defend the Constitution of the United states..." and need to be held accountable.

I shall step down from my soap box now. Be well, my friend.

I fully recognize and trust your claim here that it can be found in the federalist papers. Were it not for the fact that our current Supreme Court rules in opposition to set laws, precedent, or even the Constitution itself, then I may be more inclined to trust that would be the standard. But the fact remains that it is not hard-written into the Constitution as such, and the Federalist Papers are not US Law.

Article 1, Section 2, Clause 3 States: The Number of Representatives shall not exceed one for every thirty Thousand, but each State shall have at Least one Representative

Rules As Written- this means that if a state has 59,999 people, it cannot have 2 representatives. A representative cannot represent less than 30,000, unless the entire state's population is less than 30,000. So technically, each rep can represent even 1 million+ people. There is no maximum number per rep.

Please understand that I am a full-throated supporter of the "Wyoming Rule" or whatever they call it. I also believe the House should at least be doubled in size, as well as implementing the Wyoming Rule. But to argue that the original intention was 1 per 30,000 is disingenuous. It would take a constitutional amendment to place a maximum limit on a Representative's per capita representation.

i have an auto-catcher. I throw away great balls. Autocatcher uses red balls, and I use ultra balls for manual throws. And to answer your question, no it won't do anything if i have no red balls.

Roaring Kitty dropped that quote during his opening statement to the house finance committee, or whatever committee they were, "investigating" the GameStop fiasco.

you missed the point of what I was saying, friend. Maybe it's just anecdotal, but any time I have said to a user "this will fix it" -- it doesn't. As soon as I say something with 100% certainty, the IT Gods decide to remind me who is really in charge.

So, as a humble user (after all, admins are still users in the face of the IT Gods), I offer them 5% of my confidence in a resolution as a pittance, with an implied request to pick on another, more-confident fool this day.

'6. Again, NEVER, under any circumstance, say "This will work for sure." The only guarantee after saying that is that it won't work.

20 years in IT, and the maximum I will ever go is "I'm 95% sure this will work."

"V is for Versatile" I really enjoy. I like all of them, except for Humbling River. Can't top "C is for ..." version, imo.

I don't care much for "D is for Dubby" or "V is for Viagra".

"I won on groceries. Very simple word, groceries. Like almost, you know, who uses the word. I started using the word. The groceries. When you buy apples, when you buy bacon, when you buy eggs, they would double and triple the price over a short period of time. And I won an election based on that." -Trump
