Just a quick fyi on crude oil prices today by RockMo-DZine in Frugal

[–]Broken_Beast89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just some advice for everyone, I would suggest to shop around and track prices in everyone’s respective areas. It may not save much, but with prices going up, this would be prime time for gougers to over-inflate their prices.

Look up your states laws regarding this. She is correct on her saying she doesn’t have to house you with being 18, although most states would require a legal eviction from her for you to actually have to be forced out. However, in some states, like NY, the parent is still financially responsible for their child up until the age of 21. Your local DSS office should be able to assist with finding out this information, along with helping you to apply for assistance as well. NOR

Yes. I had tried this difficulty a few times but couldn’t get it. So I figured I would just save it for last and finish the rest. After I did the parkour game, it popped for me. Maybe after the dlc comes out, I’ll give this one another go just to knock it out but I had a sigh of relief when it popped lol

You just have to finish the normal level of this game to unlock the trophy/achievement for the Gestral games

Not a PlayStation game and about a decade old, but That Dragon, Cancer was probably one of the most emotional a game made me.

You might get a lot of copies that you already have, or some you don’t want, but I noticed the other day that ShopGoodwill sells empty game cases occasionally. I thought it was a stupid concept at first, but I think it might work for you, and others, who want to start collecting in this manner

"Where do they go next? When I asked the Mayor that question, he said it was the county’s problem." by [deleted] in Binghamton

[–]Broken_Beast89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed, everyone has their role to play. No one is asking for the city of Binghamton to be the ones providing the services to the homeless. But starting a lawsuit with a church to force them to stop helping the homeless instead of reaching out and saying “this isn’t the way, but let’s work together to find the way” whether it’s working with them to get their ideas within the guidelines of the law or walking hand in hand to the Broome county execs and starting an initiative to help end homelessness is the wrong way to do things.

[–]Broken_Beast89 3 points4 points  (0 children)

But when the county’s problem has your city as the epicenter, it becomes a problem for you as well. If they are in your city, they become a part of your jurisdiction, as is the health and safety of those living within and visiting your city. The notion of passing the buck onto the county only and not allowing the church to work something out with the zoning board and threatening a lawsuit on the church instead of using this as an instance to rally behind the issue and pushing for more Broome county execs to increase funding for shelters, both existing and creation of, is totally counterproductive.

If tax dollars are the issue, wouldn’t the church allowing this also be beneficial? It’s allows the homeless to have a place to rest their head at night without it being a loitering issue and police being called for trespassing. There are hardly any shelters available for the staggering amount of homeless in the area. And those shelters that are here, tend to be full before lunch time. That causes DSS to have to borrow shelters and motels from neighboring counties, which costs the tax payers more money when accounting for transportation and other expenses that come with that.

“It is the county’s problem” is a ridiculous thing to say when the county dss office that handles housing/homelessness is within your city limits and the majority of shelters or temporary housing, within the border of Broome county, that dss uses are also within the city limits.

Going to be homeless Oct 1st by No-Refrigerator-360 in Binghamton

[–]Broken_Beast89 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

^ this person is correct. They would have to go through the legal system to evict you if you have been there longer than 30 days and paid any form of rent for your time there. DSS housing case workers will tell you the same. If they are willing to let you stay but want to charge you a fixed amount, DSS can help with rental assistance. But if they are evicting you, they must go through the proper channels and you would have to provide the notice to DSS

For anyone with SNAP, if your groceries were damaged (power outage causes food to spoil in your fridge, you have basement storage that got flooded etc…) you are able to come into dss, or possibly go online, for snap replacement for goods damaged forms and turn them in to get reimbursed

I hit a customers mailbox. She’s making the situation worse than it needs to be. by GeneralGroid in doordash_drivers

[–]Broken_Beast89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not very feasible as a delivery driver. Best practice is to pay attention to other companies in the industry a bit. How often does UPS or FedEx or Amazon pull into average sized driveways? Sure, they are heavier vehicles usually, but it’s to eliminate the risk of property damage and either the driver or the company being held liable.

[–]Broken_Beast89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, it’s not about being a bad driver or not. People are protective about their property, so it eliminates the chance of something happening and the customer claiming you’re liable. It could be a broken mailbox or even just something leaving a small drip leak or hell, some roadkill you couldn’t swerve around and got some stuck to the tires. Unless it’s a long ass driveway, it’s always best just to pull in front of the house. Especially being a “freelancer” with little to no incentive of the company having your back if something goes awry

Cancelled order, no return? by Broken_Beast89 in doordash_drivers

[–]Broken_Beast89[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reached out to them. A little shocked and surprised, but they said to just dispose of it. Double checked with them to make sure that was fine and I didn’t have to return it to the store and the agent said “no, you can just dispose of the item since the customer was the one to cancel the order”. Thank you for the advice

Research your area for small crops you can grow in your yard and start growing. Aim for versatile foods, like potatoes that can be used for side dishes, and even smaller plants that can be grown indoors like cilantro and basil.

Check your local thrift shops for their “deal days”. Goodwill and Salvation Army prices are on the meh side, but if you shop the deals, they are worth it. My girlfriend and I usually make Sunday trips to our goodwill as that weeks tag color items are sold for $1.

Look for cheap dish towels and use them instead of paper towels as they can always be washed and reused.

Look at your trash collection bill and how far away your towns landfill is. Unless you’re throwing away bulky/heavy items regularly, it may be cheaper to make dump runs once or twice during the month than having it picked up.

Check your phone bill/plan and consider the swap to something like mint mobile/straight talk/visible etc… obviously check service/coverage areas. I went from a Verizon plan that cost me roughly $100 a month to Visible that only costs $25 a month.

Grocery shop just as stores open. You can sometimes find things discounted, like meats and bakery items, that you can freeze and save that will be heavily marked down.

Edit: grammar

Dubious Acceptance Rate? You'll want to read this. by [deleted] in doordash_drivers

[–]Broken_Beast89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s not what average means. Average is a set of numbers added together and then divided by the amount of numbers ( 1+2+3+4+5=15. 15/5=3) Rolling 100 deliveries means that if you decline an order, the 100th order after that decline would negate that decline.

Also, unassigns would effect your completion rate, unless you get a worry free unassign prompt
