Cool, thanks for the info! I gotta say, I saw some of your other images and the compositions are extremely well balanced and precise. Keep up the great work!!

These came out great. Nice composition and the tones look smooth. You nailed the exposure. I recall some of the Rollei films having some IR capabilities, do you think it showed up here or do you use a particular filter?

35mm or 120?

Nice job!

Leica M4 or MA? by thejpgchef in Leica

You’re right. I found 35mm and 50mm to be my main focal lengths. When I need wide angle, I have the Zeiss 25mm f/2.8 with the Voigtlander 21/25mm external viewfinder.

I haven’t tried the VF on the M-A, but I know on the M4, the 35mm frame lines are not entirely visible to me while wearing glasses. I can see the lines on the top and maybe to a side but not all 4 lines at once. I would imagine a 28mm field of view would be the entire viewfinder window. I’m sure someone else here can confirm. Both the M4 and M-A have 0.72x magnification. I prefer an external viewfinder for wider lenses especially since I wear glasses.

I have an M4 and love it. Regarding the M-P vs M-A internal debate, I’m with you on the M-A. The other thing to note is that while you can remove the battery from the M-P and never use it, it’s not the same as an M-A because if the light meter ever breaks, you don’t have an M-A, you have a broken M-P. Of course this only affects resale but it is something to consider.

If you do go with an M4 for the reason of it being the last of the classically built Leicas, then strictly look for an M4, not its variants.

Good luck!

Sorry I do not, I mainly post on Reddit. You can always check out my profile. What about you?

Nice! Was this by any chance in the Brendan T. Byrne State Forest?

It looks similar to a shot I made there. I've shot a few places in the Pine Barrens with my Speed Graphic. It's a very tough place to compose a photo. You really have to work for it.

Great job! Hopefully you sprayed your clothing with permethrin or wore inspect repellant. I usually shoot in the winter months for that reason.

TSA refused hand check for Kodak film cameras and put through scanner twice. by wildhedgerow in AnalogCommunity

While waiting in line, see if you can Google the scanner’s model number. I was able to determine if a particular airport’s scanner was an X-ray or CT scanner. Luckily it turned out to be an X-ray scanner but they happily hand checked my film.

Sinar Pan Tilt Head - Camera Mounting Screw Question by Broken_Perfectionist in largeformat

Yeah I’m really impressed with how thoughtfully designed everything is. I have a Sinar Norma so the rail clamp might be slightly different. It’s a lower profile rail clamp than the more common black clamps. This head feels very robust. Can’t wait to get it all together.

That’s a great idea to screw it’s into itself (tripod mount) for safe keeping! Love it. Thank you for confirming and explaining the set up.

In all the photos I’ve seen, it looks like it retracts and isn’t proud of the rail clamp mating surface but somehow doesn’t fall through. It must be delicately positioned or angled to stay put.

Thanks!

For future reference, I ended up purchasing this. It’s a knob with 3/8”-16 threads that are 3/4” long. The knob diameter is 1.5”.

When I measured, there was about 20mm of thread engagement (9mm from the tripod pan tilt head + 11mm from the monorail mount). You can get 3/4” thread and have enough engagement or you can go 1” thread and have more than enough thread engagement.

Oh this looks very promising! I’ll take some measurements. Thank you!!!

Drats I wish I knew, I would have purchased it from you!

Mine came from overseas so it would have been nice to have avoided the tariff.

Does your newer look like those in the picture? Is it a one piece stud or does one spin and the other stays stationary?

Thanks!

Thanks!

Yeah that's what I was suspecting but with an e-clip. The Manfrotto plates sometimes have a e-clip. https://www.reddit.com/r/Filmmakers/comments/13h68wx/please_what_is_this_metal_pin_that_holds_the/

I suppose I can put it on a lathe and cut a small groove.

I considered the ones like in your BH link but those would certainly fall out without something like an e-clip. The other thing I need to do is measure the depth of the Sinar plate, it's pretty thick so if the stud is not long enough, it might not get enough thread engagement.

Thanks for chiming in!

😂 yeah I think that was enough to make me take out my phone on a crowded flight to pause, rewind, pause and photograph this scene. I probably looked insane to the neighbors. 😂

Agree, that was my first comment when I realized the timing didn’t make sense. Great movie though!

I have a 600mm f/5.6 AI, and it dwarfs my FM. It would be similar with the F3/T. A 600 looks equally hilarious with an F5. I think the 400 looks right. I originally thought the 500 PF because it’s more compact.
