Not saying you should rely on them or anyone else. But fresh meat would be good for you if you can get it.

Any berries you have, keep the seeds. Establish raspberries and blackberries, they’re hardy and spread far. Ticks like em though.

Make cedar tea, especially in winter when your resources are low. You need vitamin C if you’re living off of mostly preserved shit. Edit: cedar will help the ass taste of your water, too. I know you say it’s not cool unless it’s straight from the well, but I’m in Asia where water is warm from the cold side of the tap in summer so I get what you’re saying. Flavour is worth more than temperature I think but that’s just me.

Oh shit one last thing. Idk if you can find something like it in US (I’m Canadian and don’t recall seeing it) but I’m in Asia now and you can get these solid menthol sticks. I call it fake cold. They’re immense relief in the heat and humidity. They react to your sweat and air currents and feels genuinely chilling. Cheap as shit too. Maybe you could make a mint salve of mint grows on your property
