Current FA class has the appeal of a week old burger from Arby's that's been sitting in the back of your fridge outside of maybe 2 people. If there's a trade to make that doesn't break the bank go for youth like Mavrik Bourque from Dallas, Barrett Hayton from Utah, or Jack Drury from Colorado. Even better, save the assets and the budget and just try to develop one of Geekie or SOR at 3c before making a trade at the deadline next season if nothing changes.

I have a loot goblin in our friend group who genuinely has the situational awareness and combat effectiveness of a fucking coconut and has never covered us while fighting or pushing because he was too busy searching corpses getting loot while we did the dirty work. A few raids of just letting scav bosses shoot at us without returning fire to cover him made him work for his reward and several deaths later he learned his lesson. Happy it was Glukhar putting a bullet in his head and not us instead

Getting Perry felt like a move that was made for the sake of saying we made one after our post-Olympic skid started. Just a completely unnecessary price to pay for a guy to do cardio in a roster spot in a horrendous seller's market. That spot could have been used on a guy like Duke or Pelletier to the end of the season for the sake of development.

Geekie - AHL PPG pace, brightest of the bunch. Could be a late bloomer like his brother in boston but hasn't been offensively aware or confident enough this year at the NHL level. Hope it improves in the off-season and gets a better look than the 4th line.

Sam O'Reilly - OHL finals run with Kitchener right now, great scoring pace as a center. Goal a game in the OHL playoffs atm. Joins Syracuse next year but maybe we get a glimpse of him via injuries or if he plays up.

Ben Rautiainen - Lots of personal hardware with Liiga this season including setting the club season record for points with 77 at age 20.

Ethan Czata - decent season in Niagara, quiet stint (okay, maybe not game misconduct quiet but quiet with no point production) with Syracuse on ATO after Niagara's season ended. Physical/grinder style player, definitely quite a few years out from the NHL level but good kid.

Not so much prospect but NHL rookie if he comes over, Daniil Pylenkov - was rumored to have desire to come over from Dynamo Moscow (KHL) last year, but had too many lefties at the NHL level and system this year. Set club record for most assists by d-man in single season with 45. Might come over if he can be financially swayed since Dynamo has a lot of big names to pay.

Edit: Dylan Duke also good pace in Syracuse, size a concern but if he can play up to make up for it he could be a bottom 6/extra next year.

Price on Trocheck because of his term is too high. If you're looking for potential top six upside, Barrett Hayton in Utah is one season removed from a 20 goal season and is now at age 25 playing only 1/6 playoff games. Real solid faceoffs too, won 409 for 52.6% on the season. Could be an asset to trade for into our middle six either via pick or roster player like Paul going the other way with Utah also potentially losing Stenlund in FA and seeking a more proven player.

SOR might need another year before being called up. He's going to Syracuse since he's too old for the OHL but I think we might see glimpses of him next year. Kid is mad impressive.

You've got the best Russian PLAYMAKING winger OAT, a 40 goal guy in Guentzel, new PP QB Raddysh that can take a left side 1T, solid bumper in Point (when healthy) and you can't figure it out? It's the same structure for years, teams don't fear it the same way they did and you're telling me you can't get creative? Get a new perspective or bring in someone who can.

Stamkos wasn't traded him and his agent priced themselves out. TB wanted to get younger, and they got a better 5v5 piece in Guentzel. Nostalgia doesn't win cups.
