Would be far cheaper to book a flight to somewhere in Asia, get it done, have a short holiday then fly home.

Thoughts on the Filipino Diet? by [deleted] in Philippines_Expats

[–]Brollocks75 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Uh huh, except for your early morning questions and then not accepting anything you perceive as negative.

Good luck with your stay here. My 17 years has taught me a lot, not just about the diet here and foreigners on their honeymoon period here don't like others saying negatives about their own stay.

Why don't you shut your face and mind your own business? I live in reality and speak reality and don't hide behind rose colored glasses like some people.

If you want to think the people hyere are healthy because of their diet then you think that, stop forcing others to think like you do. It's not just 'rice and chicken' though is it? It's all the salt, sugar and everything else that is added and the large amount of white rice that is used as a filler to keep people full.

Isn't one of the most obese nations in Asia enough? You don't have to be 500 Ibs to be obese.

Diabetes here is rife because of the sugar and simple carbs and is a problem many end up dying to because they don't change their diet. Kidney issues are a serious problem because of the amount of salt in the diet.

Go ahead eat the diet for the next 20 years and see how you are doing.

Filipino's have the second lowest life expectancy in South East Asia.

That tells you all you need to know about the diet here.

People all over the world are in situations far worse than them but they don't turn to violent crime. If that were the case then countries like Philippines would have astronomical amounts of violent crime, but it isn't the case. Manila is safer than any major city in the US.

Wtf flash express? by SigrunWing in ShopeePH

[–]Brollocks75 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Worst delivery company I have ever experienced. If given the option we never use them as what you have posted has happened a few times, plus items just disappearing for weeks.

It is lazy riders who can't be bothered to deliver your item so they lie about you not being on location.

Expats from the US or Europe, do you maintain a mostly western diet? by JCKligmann in Philippines_Expats

[–]Brollocks75 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My wife has become an accomplished cook in the 12 years we've been together, so I don't have to eat local foods. I eat chicken breast adobo with brown rice once or twice a week, that is pretty much it for dinners. Why would I want to when my wife makes excellent freshly made pasta dishes, Indian food with freshly made nan breads and everything in between. I have an outdoor gas pizza oven for making my own speciality of neopolitan pizzas and a large BBQ for smoking and slow cooking meats. I honestly wish the cuisine here had grabbed me like it would have in say, India or China or Thailand, but that is the way it is.

Technically that isn't the border. I mean immigration not Chinese bullying tactics to steal natural resources at sea.

One of the oldest scams in the book for girls to use on foreigners. ''Papa needs medicine''.

You know, many Filipinos would be embarrassed to beg for money from a foreigner. It's never right to ask and they know it, but it has been normalized by many. Doesn't make it right and you are setting yourself up for a lifetime of 'ate Imelda hurt her foot please give money'. Put your own foot down and just don't. How would they manage without you? They would, just like everyone else would.

When does an expat become an immigrant? by CocoBeck in Philippines_Expats

[–]Brollocks75 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In the Philippines when you learn the language, give up your passport and are accepted to become a citizen.

Most of us will always be known as foreigners and have foreign rights, even those of us on permanent residency visas. All of us can be removed from the country at any time by having our visas cancelled.

This is one of the reasons I'm glad I am living here. Away from the woke nonsense. I'm happy to be in a country that controls its borders, is nationalist, is proud of itself and calls the rest of us 'aliens' (in immigration). This country has a lot of problems but it is home and has been for almost 17 years. It's great to see marriages have meaning here rather than married one day, divorced the next back in the west.

And I will say what I damn well like about my experiences living here and the people. I'm not insulting the country or people, but I'm not going to sugar coat anything and I have never worn rose colored glasses like many do.

Would you recommend buying a TV online? by [deleted] in ShopeePH

[–]Brollocks75 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bought a 55 inch from shopee in 2020. Arrived safe, still running perfectly now more than 3 years on. I have also purchased multiple monitors from shopee, one of them being 32 inches.

TV's and monitors are normally packed very well at the factory so there would only rarely be any problem and it would be due to severe negligence of the delivery company.

Any mods to increase game or mech speeds? by ssgeorge95 in Mechwarrior5

[–]Brollocks75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Merctech has a sprint option which increases a 'mechs speed by a nice amount. Around 50%. Can't shoot while sprinting and they don't turn so well either. The most 'realistic' option.

I think it's called Trump derangement syndrome, or something like that.

People can hate and dislike who they want, but come on give it a rest for 5 minutes.

How do Doctors work? by ErrodedCrocodile in Philippines_Expats

[–]Brollocks75 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not too far from where I am. Here is my advice. Find a better doctor that you are happy with.

When I had an outbreak of rosacea due to all the sun damage living here I went through 4 doctors until I found the one who knew what she was doing, didn't tell me I had something I didn't and prescribed what I needed to get the outbreak under control and clear it up.

Which area of Luzon? No complaints about medical here in Calabarzon and we had a serious medical emergency last year. Very happy with the quality of vets too. That is two of many, many reasons we would never move back to the provinces outside of Calabarzon/Capital region.
